  1. I honestly can say I have no clue how Teheran is doing it. Nothing special about his pitch profile.
  2. We'll see. If he hits like he did before the injury I would be in favor of calling him up.
  3. So as to not get my hopes up, I'm fully expecting this to be the game where Tehran comes back to reality and Gallen shuts us out for 7/8 innings (as he usually does) with the aid of the afternoon shadows and our impotent bats.
  4. Tyler Black is the type of hitter we could probably call up to the big leagues right now, and we'd get a .380 OBP out of him at minimum. Tempting if we wanted to jettison Rowdy and/or Winker.
  5. Relax. They've got to give him AAA at-bats just like in any rehab assignment.
  6. He won a Cy Young with the same routine... It's execution/location of his pitches. That's the entirety of the problem.
  7. They're not just going to bring him up without anymore AAA at-bats...
  8. Seems to be the case with most hitters once the longer they are Brewers.
  9. Goldschmidt and Arenado are also playing significantly below the level of their career years from last season. Who could have seen that coming with those two being in their early to mid 30s...
  10. Defense and base-running matter
  11. Yep. The back-end of the Brewers bullpen has been largely responsible for torpedoing the Brewers' run differential.
  12. Except it's not a matter of "when" anymore, it's become a matter of "if". Other teams in the NL Central have had and will have good months, too. They have a deficit to make up right now that leaves them out of the playoffs 9 times out of 10. Is it possible? Sure. Is it among the likeliest scenarios right now? No.
  13. 11% is still 11%. Doesn't happen 9 times out of 10... They've been a bad team right from opening day. They have some good hitters, obviously, but there is absolutely nothing in their run-prevention profile to suggest that a run is probable at this point.
  14. Brewers played really good baseball in March/April when they were actually healthy. Injuries and underperformance have definitely caught up with us since, but we still have an 8.5 game advantage and are finally getting some guys back while Corbin Burnes is beginning to pitch like Corbin Burnes and Yelich is looking more like Yelich, etc. 8.5 games and below 3 teams is a lot, even in June. Why they currently have an 11% chance of making the playoffs. It's also worth remembering that they have less games against the NL Central to make up that deficit this year... I'm not counting the Cardinals out by any stretch. I'm just not that worried about them right now because they've been a bad team from opening day.
  15. Okay. But 11% is still 11%. Doesn't happen 9 times out of 10....What happened in 2011 is irrelevant.
  16. Right. Which is why you can't count them out completely. But that's still 8.5 games and three teams separating them and the Brewers. Cardinals need to actually start playing good baseball at some point and for a lengthy stretch. They haven't shown any signs of being able to do that thus far.
  17. At the same time, the 2011 team was never below .500 after mid-April. The current team is 14 games below .500 with a negative run differential in the double digits. Different years, different teams, different threats.
  18. Except no one here is writing off the Cardinals. We're just saying that it's highly improbable at this point, and that there are bigger worries.
  19. Context is key my friend. In baseball as in life. Can we count the Cardinals out completely? No. Should we be worried about them right now? Also, no.
  20. They also have to jump a lot more teams now than they did then due to their position in the standings...And they're currently 14 games below .500. The 2011 team never crept below .500 after mid-April. That Cardinals team was solid for most of the season and got insanely hot at the end. This Cardinals team isn't good and has shown no signs that they're going to have the sort of hot stretch they need to propel themselves into playoff contention. Can we count them out? no Should we be worried about them right now? Also, no.
  21. Or come to terms with the reality that a trade is never happening, and that he's a Brewer for the duration of his contract For a trade to happen, you'd have to package Woodruff/Burnes with him AND have Yelich waive his NTC. Brewers aren't offering that. And Yelich has little incentive to waive his NTC. He's hitting at an all-star level again and helping us win ballgames. Best to sit back and appreciate it.
  22. Yelich has a full no-trade clause. He isn't getting traded.
