  1. Good read based on study of MLB players. Basically, he'll miss the 6-8 weeks post-surgery, but shouldn't suffer any ill-effects re. performance. https://www.healio.com/news/orthopedics/20180912/mlb-players-likely-to-return-to-usual-play-after-thumb-ucl-repair
  2. I have no clue why we're suddenly thinking that Frelick is done for the year. Mike Trout suffered this same injury while sliding into a base in 2017 and returned six weeks later and was just fine. Frelick's not even a guy who's reliant on his power.
  3. They changed the ruling on the Anderson botched fly-ball and gave Maton a double. Runs now charged to Freddy. Stupid. Completely disagree with the scorers being able to change their ruling after the game.
  4. Woody throwing basketballs into the stands at the Bucks game. But doing so left-handed lol
  5. Braves didn't have a problem DHing Contreras last year with D'Arnaud catching...
  6. Geez. McCutchen's already put up more than half of his bWAR total from last year in 21 games....
  7. Okay, fine, you said they don't catch everyday. But, if Rutschman can play every game so far this season, why can't Contreras play a little more than he has been, including at DH? Winker is the full-time DH AGAINST RHP. Against LHP, he doesn't play...Creates opportunity for Contreras to get rest from C and see time at DH without having to be removed from the lineup completely. FWIW, Winker wasn't even in the lineup on the roadtrip, yet Contreras still didn't DH...
  8. Speaking of Tyrone Taylor, how long we thinking he'll need to be in Nashville for? Haven't been able to find anything from CC or Arnold. He didn't play at all in ST, so I'm assuming a week and a half at minimum...
  9. If Strzelecki threw 95/96 instead of 91/92, I'm pretty sure he would be up there with Devin as among the best relievers in the game. Though, with his arsenal he might as well be starting at that point...
  10. Lol. You keep dancing around the point. You said catchers don't PLAY day games after night games. Adley Rutschman has literally played in every single game this year! Absolutely nowhere have you seen me advocate for Contreras to catch every game or anywhere even close to that. I have no problem with his rate of appearances at C so far. Rather my qualm stems with his rate of games played/at-bats. He simply needs to DH more when he's not in the lineup, given how valuable his bat is to this lineup. The Braves had no problem regularly DHing him last season... 111 games at C is fine. But you need to add about 25-35 games at DH on top of that. That can easily be achieved by DHing him against LHP when Winker isn't in the lineup. Instead, Counsell is giving him the "Narvaez treatment" where if he doesn't start at C (which has been happening every few games), he's out of the lineup entirely. That can't be the case when Contreras' bat is so much more valuable.
  11. Geez. You gotta swing the bat there, Rowdy.
  12. Lol. Not true. JT Realmuto does. Adley Rutschman does. Yasmani Grandal did. That's the company of catcher bats Contreras is in since last season... You don't always know more about the Brewers and baseball than others...
  13. There you go again...I've never once advocated for giving up on Winker. For pete's sake, I've been one of the biggest Winker stans on here dating back to when we acquired him. Quit putting words in my mouth. Winker doesn't play against LHP. If Contreras were to be our regular DH against LHP, it would solve the problem of getting him rest and keeping him in the lineup without impacting Winker's playing time at DH.. The day to DH Contreras and give him a day off from C would have been Monday night against Boyd. But, with CC not DHing him then and Winker mired in a slump, I probably would have done so today.
  14. It's okay for people to have viewpoints that you disagree with.
  15. And yet, you could play him in even more games if he DH'd more frequently. More games for one of our best hitters, whether at C or DH=a good thing... Again, the problem could easily be solved if CC simply installed Contreras at DH against LHP, when Winker isn't in the lineup.
  16. Pray tell, where did I say I wanted to give up on Winker? I’m pretty sure I didn’t…Merely that he has an injury history himself which requires his fair share of days off. You can use hyperbole all you want, but the fact of the matter is that Contreras’ bat is a lot more comparable to Grandal’s than Narvaez’s. Yet, CC has only opted to DH Contreras once thus far, when the Braves took the opposite course last season. 135-140 total games with 30-35 or so at DH is eminently reasonable. Give Contreras days off from catching against LHP when you can plug him at DH with Winker out of the lineup…
  17. Braves didn’t seem to have a problem with that when Contreras was their DH for a significant amount of time last year with D’Arnaud catching. It most definitely hurts the team when one of your best bats is regularly taken out of the lineup. We have a hard enough time scoring runs as it is.
  18. No I’m not. I’m fully aware of that fact, and I’ve reiterated that. But Contreras isn’t just an ordinary light-hitting catcher like Narvaez. He’s one of our best bats and needs to be in the lineup almost every day, not taken out of it completely at least once a series. The DH is there. Use it, particularly with Winker’s injury history and slow start. We need the firepower. Right now, CC is treating Contreras no differently than he did Narvaez. That’s a problem, when Contreras’ bat is superior and more like Grandal who played more than 150 games for us in 2019. Not saying Contreras should play quite that many, but the DH is there for a reason.
  19. Contreras is one of our best hitters (if not our best) vs. LHP and RHP. He needs to be in the lineup almost everyday. Not taken out of there completely every few days. Yes he needs rest from catching, but the DH spot is available and CC for whatever reason refuses to use it for Contreras, when that was only his primary spot last season for Atlanta and he started there in the All Star game. Winker needs his fair share off days himself due to his injury history and isn’t exactly lighting things up right now. I would have started Contreras over him today.
  20. Again with the “Narvaez treatment” by CC for Contreras…You can’t just take one of your best hitters out of the lineup completely every few days
  21. Maybe by July, Burnes won’t be struggling anymore?? Same with Nola, Manoah, Alcantara, etc
  22. This is freaking unbelievable.
  23. His velocity is not down 3-5 MPH. It's down 1 tick...
  24. Tigers are also the worst team in baseball against LHP. No excuses tonight or tomorrow. Just get it done.
  25. Wow. This is a shock. Seemed destined to be traded to the Yankees at the deadline.
