I'm not talking about playing Contreras 150+ games. I'm talking about treating him a little differently than Narvaez and taking care that his bat is in the lineup on occasional days where he isn't catching, rather than always sitting him entirely.
Yasmani Grandal played in 153 games for us in 2019. Why? Because his bat was so valuable that we needed him in the lineup even when he wasn't catching.
CC is still going with the playbook he had for Narvaez, whose bat wasn't worth putting him in the lineup when he wasn't catching.
Contreras is much more like Grandal than Narvaez...
My only complaint about CC thus far is that he feels the need to take Contreras' bat out of the lineup completely every few days, as opposed to simply putting him at DH. That was only his main position last year for the Braves and where he started for the NL in the all-star game...
