No indication that Urias is being moved from 3B, where he's played predominantly for the last two seasons...Plus Urshela's going to make around $10 million in arbitration, which wouldn't make sense given that we traded Wong who was going to make the same amount. Either they'd want to go with the cheaper Turang or a clear upgrade, which Urshela isn't.

We already have an Urshela. His name is Luis Urias. Same exact WAR last season and a superior WAR the season before that...

No worries. My question was more directed at the FO than you as I just want to see a clear strategy and some sort of move lol. Unless they want to pay a lot for Varsho, I don't see where they're going here.

I have concerns about the FO's strategy this offseason, but I also realize that it's December 8th and that there's four months until the season starts. Regardless, there is no place for calling someone what the above poster just called me.

If we're giving up Mitchell and Lauer why don't we just give them to the Jays directly for Danny Jansen, right? I don't get it. Though, I would definitely love to have Daulton Varsho on the team to install in RF for the next four years. Maybe even longer, as a Marshfield, WI resident...

There's some good points here, particularly the seeming lack of a concerted offseason strategy. As another poster stated in a different thread, it's been a lot of zigging and zagging by this front office. However, they have still managed to clear about $20 million from last year's payroll, taking into account projected arbitration figures. That's a meaningful amount of wiggle room that they lacked at the beginning of the offseason. They just have to use it. With plenty of free agent and trade options remaining, I'm not concerned that they'll decide to pocket the savings just yet. In addition, one injury-plagued season in one of the most pitcher-friendly parks in the majors doesn't change the fact that Winker is a better hitter than Renfroe. 123 career wRC+ for Winker vs. 109 career wRC+ for Renfroe. Renfroe's all-power, high strikeout/low OBP approach is the exact thing that has plagued this offense over the last couple of years. Compare that to Winker, who walked in the 99th percentile last season with a well above average contact rate...

Box, sure. But Gott and Suter were literally replacement level pitchers last year....They seem want more quantity than they had last season, which I agree with.

Other than Hader, who had already been traded at the deadline, who left that we'll really be missing? Boxberger, I guess. He was certainly valuable to us. But who else? On the other hand, we've added a number of depth arms, which is what hurt us last season when we were forced to trot out guys like Alexander and Kelley....

From MLBTR, "Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports roughly 10 clubs have been in touch with Hazen and company regarding at least one of the team’s outfielders. Piecoro lists the Yankees, Brewers, Blue Jays, A’s, Marlins, White Sox and Reds as clubs with interest." Very interesting considering our existing stockpile of young outfielders. Daulton Varsho sure would look good in a Brewers' uniform, with the rare ability to play elite defense at RF, CF, and C.... View full rumor
