FWIW, Suzuki has moved to the OF and Tucker is at DH since Tucker came off the IL.

Agreed. Batting order, especially leadoff hitter, is perhaps the most overanalyzed thing in baseball. Leadoff is only ever guaranteed to leadoff once a game.

The Ortiz part is more tenuous I agree. End of the day Yelich batting first is a non-issue imo. Dodgers bat Ohtani leadoff for a reason. Get your best hitters as many ABs as possible.

It's really not that horrible of an idea. If you think Yelich is your best hitter, batting him 1st maximizes his # of ABs. There's a reason the Dodgers bat Ohtani leadoff. And you theoretically force the opposing team to throw Ortiz more strikes.

There is no 5.5. It's 6. The Cubs, assuming they hold on tonight, have to make up 6 games period to win the division.

I’m one of MA’s biggest defenders, but not cheering Adames would be the most ridiculous thing ever. His finances pale in comparison to MA’s, and he’s entitled to everything he got from San Fran. Just wasn’t in the Brewers’ interest to give it to him. That’s the business. He gave everything he had to this city, and should be paid in kind by the fans.

I agree Yelich should be listed, but DH limits him. Especially when this team is built as heavily as it is on run prevention. -

Earliest you can say the division is over is realistically next week. If they win 3/5 and exit Wrigley with a 9 game lead for instance with zero H2H remaining, I’m probably willing to declare it over. That would probably take what is currently slightly less than 10 percent chance of the Cubs winning the division to low single digits. Though, the “cupcake” schedule notion with the Cubs doesn’t move me much. They’ve had an “easier” schedule for a while now and are basically .500.

1. Peralta: His best season and the stabilizing force from the start with our rotation. People like to think of him as maddeningly inconsistent, but he's given us at minimum a chance to win in all but 1 game this year. So, so underrated by the fanbase. 2. Frelick: Took a leap from a batted ball perspective and turned him into an all-star caliber player with his hit tool and defense. The "pecking" starts with him at the top of the lineup, and the offense became the best in baseball pretty much as soon as he took over the leadoff spot. 3. Yelich: The emotional leader of the team. Not a coincidence the hot stretch started when he took off. 4. Collins: I keep thinking to how Mitchell went down and we instantly got better. He is the embodiment of this team's success and the archetype of a Murphy player. 5. Chourio/Contreras: Chourio literally carried the offense in July with his best month as a big leaguer and was our best player by fWAR (on pace for nearly 5 WAR) when he went down. Contreras has taken over in August since Chourio hit the IL, and has caught the best pitching staff in the league, which Murphy constantly talks about. Feel bad about leaving Turang out, which says a lot about how freaking good this team is. Probably should be on it, perhaps even at the top lol -

The prospect price that was paid for those relievers this deadline was substantial. For Mason Miller, we would've had to trade Made.

This is over 250 PAs which is not exactly a small sample. These are also his PREDICTIVE metrics. Not his surface level numbers. Which indicate that while he's not likely to continue to hit like prime Bonds, we're very much likely to continue to get high level production from him.
