  2. Special and well worth the (slight) wait!
  3. "Clearly not ready for prime time." That's setting yourself up. Granted, he's not the only one in the fanbase who had this take early on, but there were also quite a few more simultaneously urging patience with a 20 year old player.
  4. Just because you post doesn't mean you insulate yourselves from all future criticism of your posts like there's a statute of limitations or something. It's a free discussion board, which goes both ways. He had a right to make a post that he very well knew (or at least should have known) would almost certainly not age well. And others have a right to look back on that and point that out. I'm not sure I would have done it in quite the same fashion Chorizo did, but Jopal did set himself up here. There was pushback even when he made his original post. I'll stand by all my takes and take the criticism when deserved.
  5. Yeah. With Yelich being on the shelf and Black showing relatively well in the OF, I think a recall of Black could be imminent. We're short on a lefty bat who can get on base at the top of the order right now with Turang struggling, and if there's anything that describes Black to a "T" it's that. He hasn't hit for as much power lately, but all he really has to do is hit for more than Frelick. Trading a non-Chourio OFer at the deadline would have helped sort this out a bit, but I think the time is here to give Black an extended run of ABs. And I think you can find them between the OF, DH, and 1B.
  6. I mean if you had followed Chourio at all during his ascent through the minors it was pretty easy to see something like this happening. So, you kind of set yourself up for that. There's something that has never been in doubt whatsoever with Chourio and that is his psyche/confidence. Even when he was struggling, he wasn't overwhelmed to the extent that a Jackson Holliday, for example, was.
  7. Peguero with inherited runners. Brace yourselves....
  8. Inexcusable managerial mistake there by Murphy to not pinch hit for Monasterio there.
  9. Yeah, injuries can always happen. And I would like to see him find a true defensive home. But, gosh, if that home is in the OF grass hard to see him having much of an impact in Milwaukee in the immediate future.
  10. Overall, I'm fine with not mortgaging any pieces from what should be a nice extended window opening up here in the next few years. I will be interested to see how they plan on getting outs in the postseason, though. Hard to do bullpen games all the time. We really need Freddy to pick it up like he did in the 2nd half last year.
  11. Too bad there's no room on the OF grass in Milwaukee.
  12. How do the Dodgers get away with this.
  13. They're highly unlikely to be underdogs in a Wild Card series if they stay #3.
  14. Unless some stuff goes down in the next half hour, this is shaping up to be the most boring deadline in recent history.
  15. Not quite sure how "obvious selling" and 7 game lead work together, but I'm listening.
  16. Some would say Skenes, but hard to count on a pitcher to stay healthy and he's got 4 less years of control if he wins ROY. Fangraphs sort of explored this question recently in their trade value series. Chourio came in at 25 behind Henderson, Witt, Skenes, Elly, Julio, etc. But, yeah, of that list I personally would probably only entertain a 1-1 deal for Witt and Julio. But even in those cases I would think long and hard about it.
  17. Mears looks like the dude his peripherals say he is. Could be another great relief pickup by this FO.
  18. Rangers are still hanging in the fringes of the playoff race. And I don't see why we shouldn't take him at his word when he's 40 years old and has done everything he can in this game, including winning his second WS title just last year. There's a reason why we're hearing nothing from insiders about the possibility of him being traded.
  19. From the Tigers beat....Flaherty has also been connected with the Yankees today, too. He's already been scratched from his start so presumably a trade is imminent.
  20. Scherzer already said he's not waiving his no-trade clause again.
  21. For sure. Crazy how he's been better in his 30s than he was in his 20s.
  22. Only threw 75 pitches. Wasn't as sharp today though and we have Wilson and Junis in our pen, so looks like Murph was willing to sell out to avoid the sweep.
