  1. Despite the ERAs of these two pitchers, I think I would bet on some runs being scored tonight as they're both significantly outperforming their peripherals.
  2. I also never said they were going to go back to hitting at the rate of the first 13 games once Yelich returns. But adding your best hitter w/ an xwOBA of .460 seems pretty dang likely to lead to some positive regression for the offense as a whole. Rhys Hoskins, for example, is someone with a lengthy track record and a career OPS of .841 while currently sporting an OPS almost 100 points below that.... Youngsters carry downside for sure as we're currently witnessing. But they also carry significant upside. I would bet on some figuring it out to a varying extent, and the ones that don't will get less and less ABs as the season goes on. Benefit of having the Brewers' position player prospect depth. You're not pushing all your chips on one or two guys. Anyways, to answer your question. Is this the real Brewers offense? Unlikely. It's almost certainly somewhere in the middle between the first 13 games and the last several weeks. Which is about where it ranks overall now.
  3. Turns out you don't score as many runs when you lose your best hitter over an extended period. Chances are they won't score like they did over the first 13 games. But chances are they won't score like they have been the past few games. What makes this period without their best hitter "the real Brewers offense"?
  4. Brewers had the 2nd best offense in baseball by wRC+ and 3rd best by R/G coming into today....
  5. Assad is due for regression. He's solid, but not close to as good as his ERA.
  6. Zero reason the challenge system shouldn't be here starting next year. A shame it hasn't been installed already.
  7. Turns out the real MVPs of this org are Murph and Arnold.
  8. Chourio is so much more of a priority for this organization than Bauers it’s not even funny. He needs these ABs.
  9. Give me 16-12. Schedule is very favorable.
  10. Hard contact just isn't there. Plate skills haven't been up to snuff either compared to prospect pedigree.
  11. Wouldn't be shocked if Black ends up taking over in the leadoff spot soon.
  12. Peripheral stats don't like him, but man he just keeps producing the results.
  13. I don't think Uribe said anything. All I saw was a stare down from Uribe, and then Siri started yapping.
  14. That was a great at-bat. Unfortunate ending, but just a perfect pitch by Pepiot.
  15. 100% this.
  16. I think if anything you'd do it in a piggy back type role and feature him out of the pen some. With Mis, it's always been a question of control, not stuff. As soon as he does start showing control and the returns the past couple starts have been good, I see no problem with pushing him straight to the majors. He's only going to throw a certain amount of innings this year anyways, and it's not like the injury risk is any greater in the majors than in the minors. Obviously still a bit early but I think there's a possibility he could be ready sooner than we think.
  17. If Misiorowski can keep this up over the next few starts or so, you gotta feel like he becomes a real option for the big league club. You don't need to see whether his stuff plays at the AAA level, and he's only got so many innings in the tank this year.
  18. No. He's barely 20, and is experiencing an adjustment period, as guys like Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr, Elly de la Cruz, etc. did before him. When you pay a guy $80 mil, you have to give him every opportunity to figure it out in the majors. He's always adjusted at every step of the minors. This is just the biggest adjustment of them all, as we are currently witnessing. I think today he put together perhaps the best 5 consecutive at-bats of his career. Worked the count, swung at his pitches, and had hard hit balls 3/5 times, with a fourth being a 3 run HR in 8/30 ballparks.
  19. Way too early to send Chourio down still. Gunnar Henderson, Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr., Elly de la Cruz, etc. all struggled in a similar fashion to start their careers, before eventually adjusting and becoming the players they are today. When you pay a guy $80 million, you have to give him every opportunity to figure it out in the major leagues. He's always shown the ability to adjust at each step of the minors. This is just the biggest adjustment of them all. Give it time, and meanwhile he can continue to hit at the bottom of the order.
