  1. Bottom line is you're involved in a lot more plays at 1B....That's added wear and tear on the back and just as violent at times as crashing into the wall, which Yelich most definitely doesn't do that often. It's not near as logical as moving him from LF to DH my man...Unless the Brewers plan on signing a Kyle Schwarber any time soon. If it was in the cards, you wouldn't have gotten the answer from the Brewers brass that you got this week at the Winter Meetings. It is, in fact, a pipedream at this point.
  2. The logic: You're moving and bending down a lot more than in the OF. Involved in more plays, More violent actions on quicker hit balls, etc. Seems pretty straightforward to me. And how many times is Yelich actually running back into the wall over the course of the season at a high enough speed to potentially injure his back? You can probably count them on one hand, if that...And we don't even know if Yelich would be a serviceable 1B. Just because he played it in HS, doesn't mean he can do so at a major league caliber level. How many games did Braun actually play at 1B? That's the point. Especially with the DH now an option, which it wasn't until Braun's final season. That's how you manage a guy with chronic back issues whose value predominantly comes from the bat.
  3. 2X Tommy John is in no way a death sentence nowadays. See Eovaldi, Nathan. And who else is going to give you value on the mound in addition to having an MVP caliber bat? If anything, his bat is insurance against the contract turning into a "disaster". You're probably one on the few on earth who legitimately thinks this.
  4. If I were Ohtani, I'd go straight to Japanese media whenever the decision is made after how the American press has handled this.
  5. It's not just Ohtani, it's Yamamoto, too, which would affect Burnes' market.
  6. NVM I'll believe Bowden...What a circus.
  7. I mean he's also got the whole pitching thing (resuming in 2025) and averaging 9.5 WAR over the past three seasons....
  8. Crazy fact I realized today: Jackson Chourio is more than a decade younger than Tyrone Taylor, who is just now entering his first season of arbitration.....
  9. Need to give up on Yelich to 1B pipe-dream. It's never happening. Just like he's never getting traded. Would be the worst thing to do for a guy with his back issues. If he's ever moving from LF, it's straight to DH. We've finally got a version of Yelich where we're getting decent value out of that contract. Best to not mess with that.
  10. Arias and Hampton would be a great start.
  11. I think it's going to be 12 years and over $600 million.
  12. Hope the Giants sign Bellinger now, and the Cubs are left worse off than last year.
  13. Ohtani is going to the Jays. He's not flying there to tell them he's not coming.
  14. That’s not really a barrier considering Garver hasn’t even played in 100 games since 2018.
  15. Yeah. We could even throw in Williams to replace Hader and start talking about Merrill, who's kind of blocked in that IF right now.
  16. Starts with Snelling for me. Snelling and Zavala/Head.
  17. I would be somewhat frustrated if it's an OF, unless they proceed to trade at least one of Wiemer, Frelick, and Mitchell.
  18. It's well known that he counsels his clients to set their value on the open market.... Out of all the clients he's had over the years, very few have signed extensions before free agency. More often, they take the route of Carlos Correa, Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Corbin Burnes, etc.
  19. He’s been a late bloomer. Was the best pitcher in the Texas league this year and a top 50 prospect mid season before he graduated. Their second best young pitcher after Miller who’s out of our range by this point.
  20. He'll just pass it up because his agent is Scott Boras.
  21. Life is good. Except for the Reds getting the #2 pick. That will be a nice coup for them to add onto their young core. Cubs only 3 picks ahead of us, despite falling spectacularly out of the playoff race in September. We pick ahead of the Mets because they exceeded the luxury tax. Lol Greg. Lol Cohen and DS.
  22. This is a pretty nice list....https://www.ballysports.com/article/clpsp6wt9000btl0ib0v8oqaa Though, I agree I'd be content with progression th/o the season and anything above the .700 OPS mark. It's hard to play MLB at 20 years old.
  23. Sheehan is just as much of a stud from a pitching perspective as Mayo or Ortiz. Holliday is a different story. But we're not getting him.
  24. Why you have to target teams with a lot of it and who are desperate to win a WS, like the Dodgers or the Braves.
  25. I honestly would prefer to deal Burnes for high-upside starting pitching. It’s the one thing we lack in our organization right now aside from Misiorowski and then Knoth further down. Something like Burnes (and maybe Adames) for one of or multiple: Sheehan, Pepiot, Frasso, AJSS, Waldrep, Abel, Hall, etc.
