  1. So, Twins would be more willing to deal him then, too, with Lewis cemented there. Good deal all around.
  2. Well deserved. Was truly the best catcher in the NL this year. Lock him up!
  3. They’re not arbitrary value websites. It would be solid core but we still can and should do better. Orioles might be reluctant to part with their prospects, but it’s the price you have to pay. Freddy is healthy right now and controllable for 3 more years after coming off a second half where he was arguably the best pitcher in baseball. Devin is arguably the best (top 3 at minimum) closer in the game and is controllable for 2 more years. That’s a Juan Soto combination of value. Trading guys for less than their value, especially when they’re controllable like Peralta and Williams are, is right out of the A’s playbook.
  4. Yeah I said and/or insinuated none of this but go on.
  5. Not really for guys who have multiple years of control. 3 more years in Peralta's case. Again, Peralta and Williams together is comparable in value to when the Nationals traded Juan Soto to the Padres and got their haul. What is by far the worst strategy is trading guys for less than what they're worth when you don't even need to trade them. That's how you end up like the A's.
  6. That would be a terrible strategy by Arnold to "overpay" with guys who have multiple years of control. If the value demand isn't met, then you keep them until someone is willing to meet your price. Peralta and Williams together would be comparable in value to when the Nationals traded Juan Soto.
  7. A return of Mayo and Westburg for Peralta AND Williams (who each have multiple years of team control) is pretty light. I think you need to add another major piece from the O's. I also don't think we have much precedent to think the Brewers will be involved in the Yariel Rodriguez sweepstakes. Just hasn't been their MO.
  8. I disagree it means "absolutely nothing". What it means is those teams have some catchup to do, whether by virtue of internal improvement or external additions. I don't believe I ever indicated the division is going to be easy. Simply that Woodruff being out for most if not all of the season isn't exactly much of a net change from this past season.
  9. Why you have to offer Chourio a deal very soon.
  10. I'd easily do the Twins trade and Rays trade # 2. Orioles would probably come down to how much you believe in Mayo. I would take Mayo and Basallo or Kjerstad for Peralta for sure.
  11. I'd still be shocked if they traded Peralta.
  12. Tbf, it's not like we had Woody for a most of the season this year in which we won the division by 9 games... That said, I would be shocked if we didn't sell of some pieces.
  13. Yeah that tends to happen to 18 year olds who are playing guys a decade older than them on average. Fact that he's doing what he's doing now just a year later and still as a teenager is remarkable.
  14. Advanced to a full Senate vote next week. Would still need to go back to the Assembly before Evers can sign it. https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/2023/11/08/brewers-ballpark-funding-deal-advances-toward-senate-vote-next-week/71505570007/
  15. My problem with extending Willy is that while he’s a huge bounce back candidate now after a subpar offensive season in the prime of his career, he’s not necessarily a safe bet in his early to mid 30s once his defensive value begins to decline. I think we’re better off going with EBJ or finding our SS of the future in a Burnes or Williams trade.
  16. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that when MA has meddled less in baseball decisions, we’ve been more successful. Those big “shopping sprees” that you laud MA for going on early in his tenure turned into Jeff Suppan, Matt Garza, whose contracts actively hurt the team.
  17. That’s funny because which version of MA have we won more with….
  18. Bear Bryant won a championship or two.
  19. He doesn't get to have his cake and eat it, too. He's severed his ties with this community by virtue of what he's done. Now, he's got to live with the consequences in terms of his legacy and reputation in MKE.
  20. Love love love the profile pic update btw!
  21. Well, if you make the postseason in MLB, you have a shot, if recent postseasons have taught us anything....Regular season be damned.
  22. Pat Murphy interviewing for the job tomorrow morning, per Verducci.
  23. Believe me, I'm not saying harass him in public, though I'm sure some stupid people will. But in one day he's lost all the goodwill he's built in the city and the state. I wonder if he underestimated the backlash he would receive.
  24. Something tells me CC won't find continuing to maintain residence in Milwaukee to be as amicable a situation as he hopes....
