  1. Baseball Prospectus supposed to release their Brewers top 10 today, yet not on the site for some reason. Ugh! Don’t they know how desperate I am for Brewers baseball info this time of year.
  2. He also hadn't revamped his load and swing like he did in May. Just as he's not MVP Yelich anymore, he's not 2021-2022 Yelich.
  3. I think they're going to sign Yamomoto with Ohtani recruiting him.
  4. No. But that doesn't mean you have to trade him. Although a guy who averages 4.1 fWAR per season would get something approaching that on the open market. Either way, this was a made up rumor so it's not even really worth debating. Yelich is here to stay.
  5. He's one of the two good veteran hitters we have, and his deal isn't that bad. You're talking about a 4.1 fWAR player last year. If the Brewers want to contend this year like they've said they want to do, you don't trade that unless it helps you win in future seasons. No team is likely to offer much that would help us in future seasons.
  6. Answer seems pretty straightforward to me. Work him as far as you can as a starter and then once he approaches his innings limit (career high of 76 this year so maybe 110-120) transition him to the bullpen culminating in a stint in the majors in August/September. Of course, there's also the possibility that he experiences significant gains in his control and tears up AA in which case you might get him some major league starts. Most likely, though, any impact on the big league club in 2024 will be out of the bullpen. I wouldn't worry about the Brewers keeping him there like Hader. They have repeatedly said they are committed to him as a starter. And why wouldn't you with his elite upside. Hader didn't have 3-4 plus to plus plus pitches like Misiorowski did. It was almost entirely fastball with him early in his career.
  7. Not happening. Burnes said it himself.
  8. If they think this is how they're going to acquire Burnes or Adames, they better think again.
  9. What exactly does trading Yelich accomplish for the Brewers at this moment? He's their only major financial commitment throughout the duration of his contract and is not hampering us from being able to upgrade the roster. The only types of players he's preventing us from signing are the ones we'll never have a shot with anyways. He's also one of our top bats at a time when we're trying to contend. And the Jays aren't going to offer us much that would help us competitively in future seasons. Plus the NTC, which I highly doubt Yelich is going to waive to go to Toronto. Maybe reconsider in a year once the young outfielders have had more time to establish themselves, but we kinda need the insurance Yelich's offensive production provides us right now as we're trying to break in the youngsters. I'm skeptical, and we should still be prepared to ride this out like Braun.
  10. I'm aware of spring training and how it works. I'm just pointing out how the Brewers in theory have zero incentive to play their $80 million investment in that game, as opposed to the major league game where he would get more reps against major league arms, regardless of whether the pitchers are going full-speed (though chances are it will be more regular season like given how relatively late in ST the game is). Obviously, the chance of an injury is pretty much the same in both games, but it's a lot more palatable if Chourio were to get injured in a major league spring training game as opposed to a meaningless prospect showcase. I ultimately don't care one way or the other because it's only one game, but it's a legitimate question to ask.
  11. It's only an exhibition, though. The Brewers gain nothing by playing Chourio in that game. We'll see. MLB may force their hand.
  12. True. I could maybe see them holding Chourio out of the major league game to play in the prospect showcase. Depends how serious MLB wants teams to be about this. Brewers seemingly don't have much of an incentive here. Chourio needs at-bats against major league pitchers at this point, not whatever the Royals will throw out there.
  13. Really fun idea. Doubt Chourio will be partaking this year given he'll be in competition for a spot on the major league roster. Still, will be fun to see our top rated farm system match up against other teams.
  14. Never been less shocked by a FA signing in my life. He'll probably bang a few HRs against us, too.
  15. Cards sure do love their geriatrics.... https://redbirdrants.com/posts/cardinals-will-discuss-a-contract-extension-with-paul-goldschmidt-01hhdtp0nc9n
  16. Of course not when you put it like that. But it matters in terms of their overall value. Frelick was comparable to Mitchell in CF in a similar number of innings. And we already saw the Brewers put Chourio in RF for Mitchell... Going to end this conversation now. I would not trade Frelick for Julien as Julien is due for a regression at the plate and does not provide value elsewhere like Frelick. I would trade Mitchell for Julien but I don't think the Twins take that deal.
  17. They wouldn't fight the bigger markets exacerbating their competitive advantage on the field??? I think they would.
  18. Small market owners would be the ones fighting this.
  19. Power.... And he's a good defensive CF himself. Not that different from Mitchell.
  20. MLB should really void the deal, but they can't.... Wish the owners and players would work together for the good of the game for once instead of the good of their wallets.
  21. So, he can play there! Frelick is better fit in CF, for now. Yelich in LF Frelick in CF Chourio in RF. Wiemer obviously profiles best there, but we don't know if he can hit at a major league level yet.
  22. Maybe because that's where the Brewers put him in AAA? And Yelich is still in LF...If Corbin Carroll can play there.... Plus I think it would benefit him to have less defensive responsibility early on so he can focus on adjusting at the plate. Mostly I don't trust Wiemer or Mitchell to hit enough at the major league level right now.
  23. I'm probably putting Frelick in CF and Chourio in RF to start the season.... Neither am I too worried about his power yet considering he had a thumb injury. Concerns with Wiemer and Mitchell are much bigger and more fundamental. We need Frelick's floor.
