  1. Great play by Fermin. What are you going to do. You had the two guys up you want the most in a contact situation the previous two at bats.
  2. Turang needs to sit on the bench in the postseason.
  3. This whole thing is overblown and stupid. His teammates were talking just a few days ago about how great an addition he has been to the team.
  4. That’s silly. We’re going to hopefully have some meaningless games coming up here where we can get him some at-bats. Why exactly do we need Anderson on the roster? We’re covered at 3B between Donaldson and Monasterio.
  5. Looks like the Cards are going with Mikolas tonight instead of Thompson.
  6. https://x.com/Brewers/status/1706752376726864035?s=20
  7. In my 27 years of existence, this is one of those things that I have yet to check off my bucket list. One day! Nice to see I have some company in being "that person" who reads everything.
  8. Problem is BRef WAR is horrific at measuring defense (particularly pitch framing) for catchers. So, Contreras' bWAR (3.6) is relatively lower.
  9. If he could elevate the ball just a bit more, I might go so far as to predict he will win an MVP in the near future.
  10. Would love to see Garrett Mitchell, Tyler Black, and Robert Gasser tonight. Sadly, I suspect we'll only get Garrett Mitchell. Also, I just realized that Contreras has surpassed Yelich for highest OBP on the team (16th in all of baseball). Dang. We may be looking at a top 10 MVP finish. Thank you so much Braves and A's.
  11. Go Marlins, Reds, and White Sox (playing the Dbacks). I'm going to game 1 next week and I have zero desire to be swarmed by a sea of Cubs fans.
  12. Yep. What Mitchell clearly needs at this point is MLB at-bats. Hopefully, we will be able to give them to him in low-stakes sooner than later.
  13. They want to freeride. This is a collective action problem that needs to be resolved collectively. At least the state has leverage if the city and county continue to demur.
  14. City and county are going to be left with no choice considering the leverage the state holds after it just saved them from financial collapse. State can always just divert some of the funding it gives the city/county to stadium renovations.
  15. I'm sure that will continue to be the case until a deal is approved through the respective government channels. MLB applying maximum pressure against lawmakers and has the Oakland-LV saga to back up its threats.
  16. Yeah. I'm sure he'll continue to make adjustments going forward. Right now, I'm interested in seeing where he is at the plate and if we can rely on him to do more than pinch run and field in the postseason.
  17. With one year left for each of these guys, the trade returns aren't going to be that much better than the comp picks we'll end up getting for them. Is it really worth forgoing what could easily be another 90+ win season and WS opportunity? And after what Johnson and co. have pulled off the last couple of drafts, why wouldn't we want to give them those picks? If the season goes awry for whatever reason, you can always end up trading them at the deadline, too. Offseason focus should be on extending Woodruff/Chourio and on getting Mark Canha/Josh Donaldson types to fill out the lineup alongside Yelich/Contreras and our younger players. Rhys Hoskins, anyone?
  18. I love Garrett Mitchell, but he's going to have to do something about that 40% K rate or he's going to suffer the same fate as Joey Wiemer and Keston Hiura soon enough. Good news is he's played in less than 45 games in the majors and he struck out only 17% of the time on rehab, but it's definitely something to monitor going forward. Should have a good few games to see where he is at the plate once we clinch.
  19. Yeah. I'd personally like to see Tyler Black get the call and get some at-bats once we clinch.
  20. Obviously not a shock, but Jackson Chourio's season is officially done. Will not be getting the call for the rest of the regular season/postseason.
  21. Then you're crazy. Cubs are going to play three games versus the best team in baseball which is trying to win, while the Brewers are going to play three games versus a bad team throwing bad pitchers and which has almost all of its good hitters out.
  22. Cardinals are missing all of their players and are throwing bad pitchers the entire series. Braves are going to be trying to win. I'll take it whenever you're ready to offer it.
  23. Doubt it gets to then. Even if we lose both games to a Cardinals team missing Arenado and Contreras, the Braves are going to be trying to win.
  24. Not to mention the Cardinals are missing both Contreras and Arenado.
