  1. Yelich’s contract has nothing to do with AM Fam funding. It also has very little to do with their ability to extend Chourio because by the time Chourio’s contract would start getting expensive, Yelich will be off the books. Brewers aren’t going to eat salary just to get rid of Yelich’s contract when he’s producing the way he is. Especially when they have virtually nothing else the way of long-term financial commitments. And, of course, the full no trade clause….Never going to happen, despite how often it’s talked about on here.
  2. Except for the fact that Yelich is one of our few good hitters on a team short of good hitters. Why would we trade him when his contract isn’t going to prevent us from extending Chourio, for example. That’s what Wiguy is getting at. There’s zero incentive for the Brewers to trade him, in addition to the fact that Yelich holds a full no trade clause.
  3. Exactly. What this team needs more than anything is an infusion of power. HRs win you games in the postseason where it’s harder to string together hits, and it showed as the Dbacks hit 4 to our 1. I like Frelick and Canha as pure hitters, but they’re not going to get it done as the meat of your lineup in the postseason. Now, guys like Chourio and Wilken may change that, but I still think it’d be wise to explore Hoskins, Alonso, etc.
  4. Right and we wouldn't have to do that much building to begin with considering we control all of our other high leverage guys from this past year. Maybe we should be cheering for a Rangers' bullpen collapse and see if we can get one of their young bats in the offseason (Carter obviously being the one off the table). Same thing with the Orioles given Bautista is out for next season.
  5. I keep seeing Monasterio as a key part of people's rosters for next year. I don't see it. He was a minor league free agent for a reason. Likely a flash in the pan, who the closer you look, didn't flash all that much. Utility makes more sense, but as a starter? Also, Yelich is not getting traded. He has a huge contract and a full no trade clause. Neither is Woodruff with his injury uncertainty. And Adames' trade value probably just isn't there right now. I'm on the fence about trading Burnes as part of me wants to run it back and get the draft pick compensation, while another part is curious about what he would fetch on the open market. Devin is a guy I'd actually be interested in cashing in on for a middle of the order bat type. Brewers have proven more than anything at this point that they can field elite bullpens.
  6. Jackson Chourio The GOAT. Nothing else to say. I'll take him over Holliday any day. Jacob Misiorowski Best stuff in the minors alongside Skenes. Right-handed Randy Johnson? Please stay healthy. Jeferson Quero A defensive whiz, his bat keeps improving. Love the power surge. Tailed off a bit in the second half, but likely injury related. Tyler Black Professional hitter. Dude gets on base with the best of them. As always, where will he play? Robert Gasser Grew so much over the course of the season, reigning in his control issues. I think he's a back end top 100 guy and a future mid rotation starter. Brock Wilken Big time power. Great patience. Fast start. Will he sneak onto top 100 lists this winter? Carlos F Rodriguez I'm lower on Rodriguez than most, but can't ignore his production at AA. Another guy who should be able to slot into the back-end to middle of your rotation, perhaps as soon as next year. Luis Lara So advanced as a hitter for his age. Will the power come? If/when it does, he'll move up the rankings. Cooper Pratt Likened to Gunnar Henderson on draft day and he's done nothing to make those prognostications look silly so far. I could see him topping this list a year from now presuming the graduations of Chourio and Misiorowski. Mike Boeve He's a hitter. Though, I worry about a Keston Hiura outcome with him. Eric Brown Jr Gets on base and fields a premium position. But you'd like to see more from someone who had the reputation of an advanced hitter. Next season will be telling. Eric Bitonti Second youngest on this list after Chourio. Decent showing in Arizona. Could rise up the list depending on how he shows in full season ball. Josh Knoth Highest upside pitcher in the system after Misiorowski, armed with a big-time curveball. Reminds me of Ben Sheets. Only 18, so still a wide variance in potential outcomes and will take some time. Yophery Rodriguez This is about as high as I'll go for someone yet to play stateside. I'm not saying it will happen and he doesn't have quite as loud of tools, but he's the one in this system who could experience a Chourio-lite rise. I can't help but imagine him in LF next to Chourio and break a smile. Youngest player on my list. Logan Henderson How did he not get the call to high A is beyond me. Recovered from injury and dominated the Carolina League. But isn't that to be expected from a 21 year old? If he can replicate that performance next season across multiple levels, he'll move into my top 10. Luke Adams Great showing in low A as a 19 year old. You love to see that kind of patience and power from someone so young. His set-up terrifies me though not unlike Wiemer. This is one where our hitting development staff will have to do some developing. Daniel Guilarte Promising start, but finish left a little to be desired, and there's little power. Still only 19 and has a great eye at the plate. Filippo Di Turi Only 17. You can't help but be thrilled with what you saw from him in the DSL. Will the Brewers be aggressive with him like Chourio and potentially Yophery? Power questions, but the glove is there. Bradley Blalock Two plus pitches with an average third and solid control. That's starter material. Good results. Let the Brewers pitching development system eat. Dylan O'Rae Love everything about him. EXCEPT for one caveat and it's a major one: He has yet to hit a single HR. in the minors. Top 5 farm system in baseball undoubtedly. What Johnson and co. did this past draft was criminal. It's at a point where I'm comfortable holding onto Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames for one last run.
  7. Man Willy's eye has been so good for the past month or so. I'm not trading him this offseason.
  8. Best case scenario is Nico Hoerner imo. Which is possible, but he's going to have to focus on contact and getting on base. He has the eye for it.
  9. How many of these are we going to have this series. Come on baseball gods.
  10. In-game news drop.... https://x.com/tombaseball29/status/1709716065998258400?s=20
  11. One word: Power. You need it in the postseason. Also, Monasterio has been awful lately.
  12. Yeah. The guy with a 13% walk rate has a bad eye....
  13. Okay but Payamps isn't a young guy....And as you said Uribe has looked fine. Peguero is back and was pitching really well in August/September. Overall, it's the best bullpen in baseball over the course of the season, and the second best over the last month.
  14. Our young BP guys were showing wear and tear at the end of the season? We had the second best bullpen ERA in baseball over the last month. Also, fwiw, we took 4/6 from Philly this season and Woody didn't pitch in any of those games while Nola and Wheeler pitched in half...
  15. Do it for Woody! Hope he gets the biggest ovation when he's introduced today.
  16. I'm too excited, so I thought I'd get the discussion started! Feel free to pin mods. If this wasn't the most important game of the series before; it is now. Time for Corbin to earn that paycheck and carry this rotation in Woody's absence. Offense was much better in August/September after being bottom of the rung for most of the year. Just get the lead and turn it over to Devin and co. for the close-out. Why not us?!
  17. Yeah. Obviously he's very highly like to be missing the entire postseason regardless of the precise nature of the injury. At the same time, all it's been described as is a capsular injury. No word of a tear. It could be more inflammation, for all we know.
