  1. I'm good with this. I hope Villar can play himself into a nice trade chip down the road (and a large contract with someone else), and that some of the multitude of middle infield depth is ready to backfill him.
  2. Nice way to step away from his salary. The Plumlee signing was bad, but JH has wiggled out of it again.
  3. I don't think there is unknown with Beasley. He's a microwave. He's not going to play D, he's not going to pass, he just shoots. There isn't a huge risk of dropoff, he can shoot mid range jumpers. That usually doesn't just go away.
  4. I think Parker is going to have to change his game after this injury, not sure he'll ever have the value he had. I know he's terrible at defense, but a lot of scorers are. Many obviously disagree with me on his worth. I think if we have a rim protector, his defense is irrelevant. At this point, it really doesn't matter. There is no precedent with a player like him and 2 ACL surgeries. I will expect the worst. Tank or not, they should be in the lottery, and there is a lot of talent in the back end.
  5. I didn't see this before I posted. I know it's a longshot, but hey, I'm optimistic.
  6. Brewers Record: 86-76 Playoffs: Yes Brewers MVP: Ryan Braun Brewers CY Young: Wily Peralta Brewers ROY: Josh Hader First player traded: Villar Surprise player: Brandon Woodruff Disappointing player: Travis Shaw World Series: Red Sox over Cubs I think that the Brewers will surprise this year. A lot of youth, and I see a setback for the Cardinals/Pirates. I think Hader is the ROY, possibly in a closer role. I think Woodruff is up early, and a steady pitcher for the year. Not flashy, but good, a la Davies. I think Peralta found his groove, and goes on a run. I think Braun is Braun. I think the team tires of Villar, and moves him, even though he plays well. I think Shaw becomes the new Wes Helms, a placeholder. Not so much disappointing, but I think the team will overachieve, and he'll be back in the pack. Won't be surprised if Perez winds up as the everyday 3B. I think Santana stays healthy, and that Arcia is ok.
  7. I expect Scooter to report in the BSOL. So jacked that he has to go up in a size to a Youth Medium uniform...
  8. I think people are overstating his deficiencies. On the BS podcast last week, Durant said that GA/JP are the scariest young combo, and the team everyone should be afraid of going forward. I think Jabari is a great secondary piece. That being said, in this deep of a draft, I'll take a lottery pick. Can only help the team.
  9. I really don't know what to think of this Badger team. I don't get to see all the games, but I haven't seen Koenig look good this year. Hayes just never took that next step, to me. Brown didn't advance, I like Happ, but I feel you can get him in foul trouble easily and quickly. I'm hoping this is the beginning of them gelling for a post-season run. I guess I agree with you guys, could see them losing to a 14 seed, or reaching the final four.
  10. Torn ACL, out for 12 months. Ugh. I loved the way his game was coming around. Sad.
  11. It was a fun 30 minutes of the Big 3. I'm going to go cry now.
  12. Return of KM tonight...a few months to gel and sneak into the playoffs. Then wreak havoc!!
  13. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/18639431/new-york-yankees-agree-1-year-deal-chris-carter Not a bad sign at that price for the Yankees.
  14. We agree on that, he is excellent at burying rats in the wall. I'm not sure why they don't grab more first rounders. I am all for snagging late firsts to draft and stash overseas. Maybe they just deal with teams that don't have the assets. I don't think we can get a first from Cleveland at this point.
  15. He wiggled out of 1 long term for 2 short term bad contracts. That was a spectacular trade. He traded a dead rat in the wall for two rotten fish on a table. You can throw the fish out, and the smell will dissipate fairly quickly, that rat behind the wall is going to stink for years. If he wasn't so bad at FA, he wouldn't have to work magic on the trade wire. I'm good with his draft, I'm good with his trades, but man does he strike out a lot on FA.
  16. They are a 2 man team (3 when KM is healthy), and they are riding their horses hard. These are the doldrum months of the NBA. The excitement of the new season is over, and we're not at the playoff push yet. I don't think much of Kidd as a coach, I don't think he's an innovator. He hasn't been around the coaching game enough to learn what works, or steal from others. Part of the benefit of being an asst. coach first is learning from others, forming your own hybrid from different styles, and then (hopefully) using that hybrid to dominate until others figure you out. I'm sure he's good at developing skills, but he's just not a good in game coach. He doesn't seem to be able to adapt. It would help to have a visionary at this point, a D'Antoni type willing to try anything. You have a completely unique talent, you need someone willing to truly experiment on how to use him, and turn Parker into Scottie Pippen.
  17. Allows Hammond to shed an awful contract. Hawes may be useful, as he can at least stretch the floor a bit. The corpse of Roy Hibbert should reside firmly on the end of the bench. As long as we don't have to send along picks, it's a pretty good move. Even if we give up a 2, I can live with it.
  18. If history teaches us anything, he'll be DFA'd in the next few weeks when DS finds someone else he is slightly more curious about.
  19. It could work. I think it would be ideal for someone like the Brewers last year, who had depth in mediocrity, and little else. I think you throw it out the window if you have quality SP. Why waste high end talent at 3 inning clips? You could rush people through the minors faster, as you don't really need a third pitch to get through the lineup once. What happens when someone is lights out after 3 innings? You pull him regardless?
  20. I read earlier in the week that the Packers' only hope of winning was playing that zone, and hoping to shut down Freeman. They didn't have the guys to cover Jones and crew, and basically had to play bend/don't break to have a chance. Unfortunately, they bent and broke. You can allow the 6-10 yard passes if you can shut down the big plays, they couldn't shut down either. I'm not a fan of Capers, but the losses prior to and in game limited anything he could do. Aside from that, Atlanta is really good, a horrible matchup, and executed well. We didn't take advantage of the mistakes. Had to have another game like against Dallas, and it just didn't happen.
  21. They need to solidify the CB position somehow. They're not going to be in draft position to get a true difference maker at the position, he's going to have to explore free agency. Shields is done or close to it, Randall has had his confidence destroyed, I'm not sure Rollins was ever good, and Gunther et al are special teams/backup players. I'm not saying you pay a ransom for a Darrelle Revis in his prime, but they need some experienced guys. Even a Terrence Newman type, who isn't fantastic, but steady, would be an upgrade. Can't keep throwing out random rookies and hoping for the best. As far as the DL, and the LB core...Matthews should be gone, Peppers is another year older. Ryan and Martinez were ok, but could use some new edge rush. I wouldn't invest too heavily in the DL, I think they're ok there. Offense, I would draft McCaffery in the first round, he is the type of player who would thrive in this offense. Re-sign Cook, regardless of how frustrating he is. That being said. I expect we'll do nothing in free agency, let Cook walk, max out Clay, and then draft a number of unheralded and undersized offensive and defensive linemen, along with a punt returner in the fourth round.
  22. I think they signed GA to a 5 year extension this offseason. Parker's should be coming up this summer maybe? I forget how long the entry level are.
  23. I've smoked wings in the past, turned out really good. Very tender. After smoking, I lightly battered and fried them. Then tossed in sauce. I may do that this weekend now that you've mentioned it.
  24. Jim Bowden just praised this "fleecing" by Cincinnati. Talk about a kiss of death. I thought it was a good trade for the Reds, now I'm not so sure. I'm also not sure this should be in blue. I'm kidding, but I'm also serious. I'm confused.
  25. I thought the zone was fine. They didn't have the players to play man. Randall was a broken man, at least with a zone there was a safety to make the tackle after the catch. I don't think they can lock anyone down, they are just going to have to outscore, and hope they win the rushing battle.
