  1. Some pubs have done updated system rankings. ESPN and Kiley McDaniel rank the Brewers 17th: 17. Milwaukee Brewers -- $200 million Current top prospect: Jeferson Quero, C Preseason ranking: 5th, $276 million What has happened since: Jackson Chourio and Joseph Ortiz both graduated and Robert Gasser was about to join them before needing Tommy John surgery. Mike Boeve and Cooper Pratt are both arrow-up prospects from the 2023 draft class. First-rounder Braylon Payne wasn't expected to be a top-20 pick last month, but he was seen as a top-40 talent and the savings on his pick were spread around the draft, as the Brewers have done in recent years. Blake Burke and Bryce Meccage were the next-best picks in that crop. Baseball America came out with their rankings this afternoon: 15. Milwaukee Brewers Top 100 Prospects: Jeferson Quero, C (44); Jacob Misiorowski, RHP (64); Tyler Black, 3B (66). 2024 Prospect Success Story: Brett Wichrowski, RHP The Brewers have graduated Jackson Chourio and Joey Ortiz this year, but the rise of Brett Wichrowski, Cooper Pratt and Mike Boeve has given the team some solid reinforcements. See Their Midseason Top 30 Prospects ************ Has anyone been able to figure out what BA has been doing with Wichrowski? He was their #6 ranked prospect in their updated top 30 list. Now he's their 2024 prospect success story? I think he's a solid prospect (had him 17th in the July voting), but he can't be anywhere near the top five or listed as the org's prospect success story. It honestly makes me question my whole subscription.
  2. Petriello had a good article this week on slap hitters who have apparently decided to simply swing harder and looser since around the ASB. I immediately thought of Frelick and Turang, two guys among those across the league who swing the slowest bats. Mitchell doesn't have that problem. Barrel % and Hard Hit % are nothing to write home about, but you don't have to worry about whether or not he's swinging the bat hard. Combine that with his speed and it's why I don't really worry about that high BABIP crashing back to earth.
  3. Rodriguez has quietly put together a nice season for himself.
  4. Yikes, that was a rough game for Murphy.
  5. Henderson and Smith would be my locks. I'd like to see Clarke get a look too, but he's not on the first tier. Don't know what to do about Crowe but it'd be nice to see him pass through the Rule 5. Patrick is a cool story but his peripherals don't paint as gaudy a picture as he's shiny ERA and W/L. Would like to keep him but again, not on the same tier as a few others.

Gonna split the difference. Might be too high on Boeve but I believe in the bat. Love what the Brewers have in Henderson, Smith, and Hunt. Feeling I might be too low on Areinamo but really I could have added ten guys to this list. System is deep and exciting as hell.
  7. I think it's likely they took him knowing there wasn't much of a chance he'd sign. They'd throw a nice overslot offer at him and it's great if he takes it, but the more likely scenario was them having another pick in 2025 and more money this year.
  8. The intellectual side sees and agrees with all of that. I've made that same argument. Emotional side though this kicking my intellectual side in the head.
  9. I am so glad they didn't do anything stupid this deadline.
  10. I didn't say anything about playing for next season. It was a commentary on how ridiculous the sellers market is with regards to relief pitching. See if some team wants to give up a couple of their top ten prospects for Hoby Millner. Maybe they back up the truck for Devin Williams. Hudson and Megill getting hurt when they did was such a killer.
  11. Stating the obvious, but Arnold should be selling.
  12. I'd also vote for top 30 as well, if it were an option.
  13. @Brock Beauchamp Could you please unlock my vote? I think I had Myers in there. Thank you!
  14. A shockingly bad trade by the Phillies. If that's the going rate for a guy who "closes" I'd be shopping Devin and Megill.
  15. Mears seems like a good one to bet on here but I liked Herrera. Interesting that they chose to use some trade capital on the pen when they've got Devin and Hall coming back.
  16. I don't understand this one.
  17. Arnold on trading WIlly. Translation: come bowl us over with an offer.
  18. In a bad draft class I find the idea that the Brewers would simply punt on a high pick in order to get another similar pick in a better class completely plausible.
  19. Learned a while ago not to get upset or judge a draft when I don't feel like it went the way that it should have. People can have opinions one way or another but at the end of the day no one really knows dick. As much as most of us love the '23 draft, any one of those kids could flop hard. Or you could have something where David Fry is a nothing 7th rounder who signs for $10,000 and ends up an all-star. Who knows.
  20. @Seth Stohs KC Hunt and Josh Adamczewski are two possibilities for my list.
  21. Jay was recently DFA'd.
  22. I mostly just like the idea of a teenager in 2024 saying "Holy smokes!"
