  1. Yeah, that was just bad. It also points to the trades that fell through, but...JAKE MCGEE! That was infuriating. It's not even like he'd have solved our problems, it was just an asinine move to deal away the guy with a lot of upside as a potential BP arm. You roll the dice on talent like that over Jake McGee who was clearly no longer effective. I'm alright with not dumping Suter...if people are talking about blowing up chemistry, Suter getting DFA'd wouldn't help. Jake McGee and...I don't recall who else, but there seemed to be another obvious choice. Someone else going to the 60 day perhaps? Topa or...whatever. They should have found a way to keep Lamet.
  2. That and Bush+Rogers would give you a deeper pen(and Rosenthal). And then it just seemed like Boxberger, Bush, Rogers and even Williams a couple times would take turns blowing leads. Very small, narrow leads as we played a lot of close games, but...still. And then also, as Attanasio said, there was a trade(s) that fell apart that they thought they would be able to complete.
  3. I honestly couldn't get past, "Ruiz was washed up until this year." So at 22 he was...washed up. Yeah, that tracks.
  4. I wouldn't love a 1st, but I'm real confident the OL is going to be fine, I think the defense is way too talented to not be good...so yeah, screw it...give up a 1st if it means Claypool. I wouldn't do it for Moore though.
  5. I hate the 3rd round. 4th round however seems outstanding.
  6. Well...I think Moore would be actually cheap if they just traded for his current contract. I don't know a lot of teams would want to take on that nearly 20M base next year. We do get the benefit of getting him at a discount and we could restructure. But I think the tendencies are kinda out the window. They traditionally never pushed money down the road and I don't know what Gutekunst will do. This is a guy who just traded two 2nd round picks to move up in the 2nd(a very aggressive move) to get a WRer. That particular WRer may take longer, and with the very real chance that we're looking at Rodgers final year, who knows? Robbie Anderson would be good as well. Mike Gesicki is still a guy to keep an eye on. He's basically a slot. He's not a deep threat, but he is an explosive talent. Curtis Samuel is another guy I was really high on, but with Cobb and then Rodgers, that seemed less likely. The thought being here, if they're going to lean on the deep threats they currently have, they could at least add some guys who can open up the field a little more with the intermediate routes. Kinda wonder what this offense would look like with Darren Waller if Adams had signed the franchise tender(without it, they couldn't include players, only picks, so the proposed 1st+Waller became a 1st+2nd). Then we went back and tried talk about Waller for a 2nd and the Raiders balked. Really, the whole Adams situation may play out well in the long run. Love Quay has huge upside as does Watson, but the timing was really bad for our WRer room outside of just him. ONE week earlier and maybe we sign MVS, JuJu, OR...DJ Chark who is a pretty damn good player and a really good fit in this scheme. Also seems like the type of guy Detroit signed almost so they could flip him like a Baseball team would. A 1 year deal? Now they have Williams coming back, St. Brown and a pretty nice WRing core and Chark is on a one year deal? Call everyone. Don't let some stupid team trade a D-Hop for next to nothing.
  7. Yeah...I'm not a big fan of OBJ either...and I'm not sure he's a deep threat any longer(maybe he is). DJ Moore is the guy. Might be a Von Miller type situation though. Get the Panthers to convert ~10M of his 2023 base into a signing bonus and we just might have to give up a 2nd rounder for him(maybe throw Amari back just because...why not). Or sign Will Fuller? He's fragile. And I still think Watson will play a role. Maybe it'll be later in the season, but you can't count on that. So if it IS OBJ, or if it's Moore, or you trade with Detroit for DJ Chark. He was an obvious trade target. But sure, I don't care who it is. I do think some of this is gonna kinda start coming together. I think the OL will get better, I think the chemistry with the young guys will get better. The defense will get better. But maybe more than ever, it's important to go out and get another piece for this team. No sense in pushing in 950K in chips and then folding. Push that last 50K in.
  8. LOL...he reminds you of Will Inman? How so exactly? And Ruiz is blocked? Because we've got good OFers? Good...left handed hitting OFers? Is Wiemer also blocked? Hey, lets just not draft any OFers for...IDK, I guess 3-4 years. Why bring a guy into the system who is..."blocked." We definitely don't need guys who can hit left handed pitching on this team. Nah, we have a surplus of that!
  9. Is this a bit or do you really think Daniel Sterns is our GM and we got "nothing" in return? That Gasser in particular, but Gasser and Ruiz are "nothing?" That...just can't be serious.
  10. I thought Ashby did maintain his rookie status this year? By what measurement did he not?
  11. I really thought I was the only one dumbfounded by the Lindblom thing. Even when he got hit around at the big league level, you could see how much movement he had. He seemed to improve his control and with his movement, at least offered the potential for a couple of good outings. The potential for blowup's as well, but...that's what we were getting already. It's almost like, "well, if we're paying him over 3M a year, at least he's going to help OUR AAA team and we're not going to call him up, just to DFA him if it doesn't work out." I would hope that wasn't the logic, but it's hard to figure out what else it'd be.

  13. Don't even need to look and see how he did. Only that the Hader has been terrible thread has not been bumped, he obviously did not give up a run. Though, FTR, we threw him in the 8th last year vs the Braves and Freeman.
  14. 25 would almost certainly get it done I'd think...but it's just so hard to track this sometimes. Castillo is a good Woodruff comp and he's obviously using that. Castillo signed a very team friendly deal though. The Bonilla trade was made so the Mets could go out and get another player. They failed to trade for Griffey Jr, then traded for Mike Hampton and won the NL, got David Wright as their comp pick and they ended up making out well. Bonilla end's up coming out on top as he turns ~5.8M into 30M. We don't add anyone in this trade and it seems entirely unrealistic. The Brewers should aim for a balance between the A's/Rays and Braves/Cards-That was not intended to rhyme. But lock up young talent early if possible, if not, you DO have to trade most of it. I can see one extension...and I don't see why Adames would sign for 5 years 67.5, but...it's not totally insulting. I'd offer 5/125 and then 5/110 for Burnes and Woodruff and maybe player options for 30M with 5M buyouts. I really don't know what each player is thinking, and I've been pretty vocal about wanting to retain at least one of the two pitchers. Both and Adames is...a little fantastical. Though, somehow still more likely than moving a 35 year old Braun to SS or Frelick now to SS.
  15. I brought Abreu up months ago but was told(and kinda convinced despite having Vaughn, Eloy, Sheets) that the White Sox wouldn't let the elder statemen and the player who brought in so many other young Cuban players. But if this is true...he's a damn near perfect fit into this offense. 2/30-3/45 seems like the going rate for a hitter of his caliber, even at 35 years old.
  16. What does McCutchen have to do with Abreu? They're not even remotely similar other than...they both play baseball and are in their 30s. Abreu is a wildly different player. His exit velocity this year was higher than his career average and his hard hit% is higher than his career average(over 50%). I also don't see how or why Wiemer is being blocked by him. We're not playing Wiemer at 1B/DH and we're not playing Abreu in RF. Offering 10M over 1 year would just be an insult and pointless.
  17. My problem is Jansen is a career .212/.298/.396 before having a nice partial season last year. I don't know he really is a big offensive upgrade. 2022 version of him, sure.
  18. I kinda agree. Jansen was good in 248 PAs last year, but for his career, he's 98 WRC+. He's a nice catcher...I don't want to give up Wiemer for him. I'd honestly rather run it back with Omar...provided he was cheap. He had a solid walk rate last year, few Ks and his BABIP was .248, over 50 points below his career line. Wiemer may very well be a bust(they might all...obviously). But his tools are so impressive, I'd rather roll the dice and take 6 years of him and then I'm not sure what Carlos Rodriquez that is. CF is certainly more appealing than the RHPer. Garcia is a lotto ticket I like but wouldn't object to. I guess I just don't see it. Jansen had success last year despite an also low BABIP...though his career number is actually .239 and last year he was .255...which may mean he's due to have a HUGE year, but it's just not a move I'd like to see.
  19. Prevacus isn't exactly big pharama. It seems more like a scam "Alpha Max Brain Energy" nonsense type supplement. It looks like they've raised a couple million dollars and are trying to use Favre's name to raise more and giving him stocks(that he in turned wanted to give Bryant...and was told that was VERY illegal and he persisted saying he'll give him some of his shares since he "needs to be taken care of."
  20. I don't think the problem is that Rodgers CAN'T throw deep...but who is he throwing to? Doubs isn't going to be a consistent deep threat when he's THEE deep threat on the field. Cobb was never a deep threat. He snuck behind the defense a couple times in big plays, but he's never been a guy you want lining up on the outside and going up and getting the ball. I think losing MVS hurt a lot. Last year he looked like he was really breaking out, he just kept getting hurt. He looks really good in KC(and he'd almost certainly be back if the Adams situation was decided earlier). So we bring in Watkins who is an alright deep threat, but one you know isn't going to play regularly. Watson is a great deep threat...when he can stay on the field, catch the ball and Rodgers actually trusts him. Rodgers can still put the ball where he wants it. But at least there's a chance. Get Watson out there, just hit a couple(also though, maybe sit him the next couple weeks as he's obviously just re-injuring that leg). A DJ Moore trade could be outstanding. I'd even give up a 2nd if the Panthers restructured his contract to give him a 10M SB right now and take 10M off his guaranteed base salary next year.
  21. I had no idea Kamara started out at Alabama. Sounds like he acted like a clown there as well. What do they say though? Be who you can afford to be? Or something like that in the NFL that basically means you can get away with stupid **** if you're a stud. I think Adams was acting out of character and just reacted...I'm not sure if he should be suspended or not. Seems like his emotions were just running high, lot of adrenaline.
  22. Mitch Haniger would be a good player to sign...in a normal year. A guy that can give you .253/.318/.485 type line as he did in 2021. I'm guessing that'd cost you either 3/36 type deal or a 1 year deal for ~10M with an option for ~15M with at least a 3M buyout. And I bet people would be THRILLED with that. Yet we've got .255/.315/.492 coming back and people are like, "nah, pass." Now, in fairness, Haniger is a better defender...but he's also more injury prone, more up and down and I'm going back a year to get that slash line that's inferior to Renfroe's from last year(and Renfroe's was better in 2021). Renfroe isn't the perfect player...but he's close to the perfect fit for this team right now. RH'ed hitter, hits lefties on what will be a heavy LHed hitting team and 1 year left on an affordable deal and a fairly reliable player year to year...but he also doesn't have a ton of trade value, so you're not really missing out on much. Just feels like an easy decision if you're trying to win next year.
  23. Feels like it's pretty clearly gotta be their two TOR pitchers and their young SS, then players with several years left like Peralta and Ashby. I guess Yelich would be part of that group, but that's hardly by choice at this point. Williams. Feels like that's about it. You assume Renfroe(little trade value and a good RHed hitter on what's going to be a LHed heavy team).
  24. That is where Wisconsin has been the overwhelming majority of the time the past 20 years...and their ceiling has not been 7 or 8 wins. Their BEST classes are coming through right now...as has been repeatedly mentioned.
  25. I didn't think he looked bad at 3rd. He's not going to make those plays diving into foul territory and then getting up and firing it 96 over to 1B, but he looked fine. It was a pretty small sample size, but I'm not worried about him finding a spot. His bat should play if we've got the OF covered with the young OF prospects we've got.
