  1. It strikes me that Dana has gone in the space of a month from getting overblown praise to receiving overdone criticism. I tend to agree with you and I think it has a lot to do with his "less than super prospect" status. His numbers at AA were terrific and I think that excited people a great deal. He had a fair amount of success when he first came up and that excited people even more, so he was celebrated. When he struggled, people were disappointed, moreso because he struggled badly at the end of the season. Whether that was because he was fatigued physically or mentally due to the number of innings he pitched, or because he was out of shape, or a change in his routine I don't know and I don't think anyone else does either.
  2. Brettac, great photo reference! Don't stop believin', hold on to that fe-e-elin'!
  3. Clearly Ohka and Cappy inspire their offensive mates to score more runs, along the lines of Wayne Franklin. Russ, you seriously underestimate this ability, which you flippantly refer to as "luck." Edit for this: I think one thing Russ's numbers show is that a pitcher can really help himself by being decent with a bat (although not in Davis' case). A pitcher who is at least not an automatic out in the #9 spot can make a huge difference in the amount of run support he gets. Now, I'm not saying there is any evidence that it has made a huge difference this year, just saying that it does matter.
  4. Considering the Brewers scored 2 runs total in their last 3 games and Williams ERA in his last 3 starts is under 1.00, I fully expect Milwaukee to be no-hit tonight. Of course, they will probably win 18-2, because they are so easy to predict.
  5. What an unbelievable game in Nashville! Through 6 innings there the 2 teams have combined for 8 HRs. Nashville up 8-5 through 6 innings in this slugfest.
  6. Zuniga and Cruz with back-to-back HRs to open the 4th (Cruz' 2nd tonight) give the Sounds a 3-2 lead.
  7. Nevermind, Durro, Krynzel, and Vinny K to end the threat. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  8. Nashville down 2-1 but with back-to-back singles to lead off the 3rd.
  9. Here is a link to a "MLB Gameday" style gamecast of the Nashville Tacoma game this evening. www.minorleaguebaseball.c...a_nasaaa_1
  10. The writer is only saying if you plug four chooks, a tomatoe and a can of beer into the portal between the minor and the majors, out the other end NORMALLY comes Albert Pujols. So, if I can collect the chooks and the tomatoe and the beer I 'likely' will see Albert stolling out of the portal. Wow, you must be into sci-fi novels. Where can I find one of these portals? More importantly, what the heck is a chook?
  11. Joe, just curious, you mention that MLE's have a long track record of accuracy. What do you mean by that? Aren't these just projections based on minor league production? How is accuracy measured? Again, not trying to be a naysayer, I'm just curious.
  12. I am hurt to think that there are people out there who think that BFNet posters are idiots. I mean, maybe I am, but they shouldn't do everyone here the disservice of lumping them in with me.
  13. I seem to remember a similar list last year, and amazingly, day by day we climbed toward the top (of the draft order). Let the climbing begin. Hoffy, your cynicism is starting to rival Geno's. I know you don't like Ned Yost, but how can you be so down on a team that is clearly better than last year and will clearly finish better than last year despite losing one of the game's top pitchers for 2 months of the season?
  14. How about he walks a batter. A balk call moves him to second. A ground ball is hit to Weeks who throws it in the stands. It will be much more fun to see Davis leave with a 3 or 4 run lead, then have a combination of walks and errors by Helms, Hall, and Weeks allow the winning runs to score. To top off this awesome display, I'm sure Davis and Turnbow will both tear rotator cuffs this evening.
  15. I can't help myself with this but................ I sure hope Hart gets that elbow thing fixed so he can learn how to hit.
  16. If Magruder stays and Hart goes I'm going to be upset. Not as much as Hart.
  17. I thought I read/heard that Cabrera will eventually be the Marlins third baseman, that he's only there until Lowell isn't and that he (Cabrera) moved because he was athletic enough to handle moving. Can anyone confirm this? That is correct, BSCR. Cabrera was a 3B in the minors and was moved to the outfield to accomodate Lowell. Does this mean Lowell has been dealt?
  18. Why did they pitch to Delgado? I agree, if you can intentionally walk a guy in the 1st, why not the 3rd. Certainly to miss Delgado and face Conine.
  19. So, what's the answer to the question about Manny the Manatee? Edit: Nevermind, I found it.
  20. On this note, I've noticed that I can no longer access the "Expected Wins" stat at Baseball Prospectus. Is that now subscribers only?
  21. The FACT is, they are nowhere near the wild card because they LACK HEART. Although, they do have Hart.
  22. Now that we're all completely down on the team, I fully expect a 5 game winning streak and something like 9 out of 11 to get our hopes up, before they dash them again.
  23. It's poorly played games like today that make me think .500 is an unattainable goal. Then again, if they had hit at all today, I wouldn't care about a couple of errors.
  24. Man, if they lose the game after giving up a run on a wild pitch and an E3 I will peel the skin off my body.
