  1. They are facing a LHP. Wouldn't read anything into it.
  2. Blalock move isn't surprising when you consider the only guys eligible to be called up on the 40-man are Ashby (pitched on 18th and sucks currently) and Uribe (needs to serve 6 game suspension still). Ultimately it came down to Blalock or a AAA pitcher not on the 40-man. Paredes could have been an option but he threw 32 pitches yesterday and likely needs a day or two down. Zastryzny left his last start injured. Blackwood hasn't pitched in 11 days so maybe is injured. Not really any other options besides those 3 to add to the 40.
  3. There's nothing wrong with the Brewers lineup. I don't really see any issues. 1. Turang 2. Contreras 3. Yelich 4. Adames/Hoskins 5. Bauers 6. Adames/Hoskins 7. Ortiz 8. Frelick 9. Chourio Not really sure what the complaint about the lineup is. We are Top 5 in pretty much every single offensive category.
  4. Pitch count probably won't let Rea go more than 4 innings
  5. I have a feeling the Brewers would very much like to extend Contreras, but Contreras seemed pretty intent on eventually becoming a FA when he was asked at the beginning of the year.
  6. That's the most frustrating part. He doesn't even need to be on the edges to have success. He can just pour pitches into the strike zone and have success and he just can't consistently do it. Still very young, but he really hasn't made much improvements in command in the last 12 months. I still feel like he needs to add a considerable amount of weight which I think would help him with consistency.
  7. Yeah but not to the point of being squeezed. Just not calling balls strikes anymore.
  8. Does Houston pump in crowd noise? Their crowd noise seems super inauthentic.
  9. Fenway has a very short right field corner but Fenway's straight away right field is actually the deepest in the MLB. Yes the walls are short.
  10. Even though Turang doubled, this is still a stupid ball park.
  11. Bullpen is pretty well rested. Everyone should be available today.
  12. That's a nice PA from the kid. Took some monster cuts, but also stayed within himself not to chase the garbage in the dirt.
  13. Ashby with another hard to watch start. I wonder if/when he gets sent to Arizona. Just seems like it can't be best for him to labor through high pitch innings every start.
  14. JESUS CHIRINOS WITH A WALKOFF 3-RUN MOONSHOT TO LF ON A SLIDER THAT STAYED UP!
  15. Luis Lara left the game after stealing a base. Looked like a hand/finger injury. Maybe a dislocation/broken finger based on his reaction. Yerlin Rodriguez with another blown save. That's now 8 ER in his last 4 appearances.
  16. Yeah I think this is very well said. Wichrowski is really the only big time helium prospect breakout this year so far. Last year you had Quero, Black, Misiorowski all making big leaps at this point. The farm system is very young for their levels on the whole so it’s not that shocking, but you’d have hoped to see at least one or two guys really elevate themselves.
  17. Misiorowski, Quero, Black, Wilken is a fine Top 4 prospects, but really nothing super impressive especially because they are stagnant mostly. Misiorowski hasn't shown any improvement of his command. Quero is out for the year so he will be passed by players breaking out, and Black has moved further down the defensive spectrum since the start of the season as a now full time 1B. Wilken had a bunch of prospect helium coming into the season, but really hasn't continued that growth partially due to injury. There was lots of hype coming into the season for guys like Lara, Yophery, Pratt, Bitonti to really breakout and find their way onto or near the fringes of the Top 100 list. So far none of them are flashing Top 100 prospect breakthrough. The system for bats just feels very stagnant this year outside of Boeve breaking out although he has started to cool off in the month of May with his OPS down to .738 after the double header today. Development isn't linear so there is still time for players to take steps this year, but the early returns outside of Boeve are lackluster.
  18. Owen Miller has never hit LHP in his career. I'd take Turang over Miller every day of the week in that situation. Hader when he pitches to LHH likes to pound the upper outside part of the plate with FB then throw breaking balls off that FB. That sets up nicely for Turang who likes to shoot line drives to LF. He isn't going to try and overpower Hader and pull the ball. He will take the ball where it's pitched and send it to LF.
  19. For as exciting as the pitching has been in the system this year, I feel like the hitting has been oppositely underwhelming. Injuries have certainly played a part, but we aren't seeing many breakthroughs with the bat so far this year. Will be very interesting to see where the farm system ranks come midseason re-rankings. Feel like I wouldn't be surprised if we fall to the bottom half of the teens with Chourio and Gasser potentially graduating.
  20. Was Biloxi no hit earlier this year? I know it happened to one of the teams, but can't remember which one
  21. I wonder where Osbriel Mogollon actually is. He pitched in Carolina last night according to the box score but we have no way to verify because no audio/video and the ACL box score says he's pitching for the ACL Brewers today which also doesn't have audio/video. Who is the real Osbriel Mogollon?
  22. Chourio struck out in his first AB, so you must have it mixed up with something else. Maybe Contreras first AB?
  23. Yeah his command was so much better today through the first 4 innings. Seemed like he was running out of gas in the 5th and 6th and looked more like the guy in his first start.
  24. First game of a rehab stint not playing a full 9 seems pretty normal.
