  1. When you factor in league adjusted stats it's pretty identical to last season, but he's pitching way better than he was at this point last season. Freddy through 11 starts last year - 105 ERA-, 107 FIP-, 101 xFIP- Freddy through 11 starts this year - 90 ERA, 86 FIP-, 80 xFIP-
  2. Nobody calls a #2 SP mid rotation
  3. He's just not an ace. Lacks the consistency and inning eating to be an ace, but man people need to actually look at other MLB rotations if they think Freddy is a mid-rotation SP.
  4. It's one freaking game. If Contreras goes 0-5 at the plate today is he suddenly an average starting C?
  5. 2021 - 22nd in fWAR 2022 - injured 2023 - 29th in fWAR 2024 - 28th in fWAR A top 30 SP is only mid-rotation if there were 10 teams in the MLB
  6. Freddy has the 5th highest K-rate among qualified MLB pitchers this year...pretty dang impressive for a guy who doesn't have a strikeout pitch.
  7. Calling Freddy a mid-rotation guy is crazy talk. He's not an ace, but saying he's mid rotation is fiction.
  8. Carolina cools off in the 3rd inning only putting up 2 runs. 10-2 Carolina through 3.
  9. He came into this year at 1.040 service time, so he needs 132 days of service time to complete his second year of team control. Estimated mid-June return would have him returning with about 80 days of service time this year. That leaves about 52 days he would need to be up in the MLB from mid-June return to the end of the year to hit 2 years service time.
  10. Carolina really wants the 6 game sweep. 8 runs through 2 innings on 8 hits (7 singles, 1 double), 3 BB, 1 HBP. 8-1 Mudcats through 2 innings.
  11. Contreras going from not even in the lineup to catching today seems a bit unnecessary. Why not DH with Sanchez catching?
  12. Junk isn’t fully stretched out at this point so that’s really a bullpen game and our pen is not fresh enough to do a bullpen game.
  13. All is fine. Just allowed him to get his 5th strikeout. Dominant from Yoho.
  14. Craig Yoho is ready for AAA. Send him up there already. EBJ ruins his 6 up, 6 down on what should have been a routine ground ball to SS.
  15. Craig Yoho still waiting to get challenged. His first AA inning is a 1-2-3 inning with 2 strike outs and a lazy fly ball to LF
  16. Should clarify in the 3rd and 4th inning, but still crazy how much his velo shifts start to start and even within starts.
  17. Rough day for Blalock and Woessner. Woessner in particular has turned back into the 2023 version of himself where his velo fluctuates like crazy start to start. His fastballs were sitting 90-91 today
  18. Because baseball is a stupid game (example being the only Cubs SP we have hit well this year is Imanaga) I almost expect us to lose tomorrow with Freddy on the mound against a bad White Sox SP after we won against them with Crochet and Fedde starting.
  19. Biloxi batting around in the 1st inning was not on my bingo card today. Seems Ernesto Martinez Jr and Ayrault's ejections yesterday knocked some life into the bats
  20. I don't know if it's a simulator or an actual pitching machine that you can input that stuff into, but I do remember something being written about them getting it.
  21. I'd be fine with the first two names. I'd definitely try to swap Henderson and Bitonti for something else.
  22. Oh man I saw Ryan Birchard and got excited only to be very sad.
  23. I think the most logical options are bullpen game with the off day on Thursday, C-Rod, or Ross coming off the IL. I've heard absolutely nothing about Ross since he went on the IL though.
  24. The pitching staff in particular is crazy young. Over half a year younger than the next youngest pitching staff in the ACL and a year and half younger than the average ACL pitching age.
  25. I don't want to steal @RobDeer 45's thunder, but I thought this exercise was fun and wanted to continue it for June before the game started today. Here's the schedule for June: 2 vs CWS 3 @ PHI 3 @ DET 3 vs TOR 3 vs CIN 3 @ LAA 4 @ SD 3 vs TEX 3 vs CHC My prediction for June is 14-13. A bit of a tougher schedule and a lot of good pitching teams in the month.
