  1. I feel like it needs to be taken into consideration how clutch the bullpen was last year. They were 5th in bullpen WPA among all bullpen’s in the 21st century. The likelihood our bullpen is that clutch again seems unlikely. I’d toss a few wins out just on the basis of that.
  2. I don’t know the context of other conversations but you’re totally taking my comment out of context. I was talking about Sanchez being a weak side platoon DH. If you did this with my comment then how can I know you didn’t just do the same with the others? Big time red flag.
  3. He also underperformed his xwOBA by 31 points in 222. Here is his DRC+ for each normal season of his career. 2016 - 131 2017 - 133 2018 - 110 2019 - 135 2021 - 104 2022 - 98 2023 - 115 He's a good hitter and he smashes LHP. He had 0.6 more fWAR than Caratini last season in only 40 more PA.
  4. Haase DFA. Black isn't on the 40-man. Option whichever one of Frelick/Mitchell/Wiemer will play the least. Gasser isn't on the 40-man. Option Clarke. Option Ashby. DFA Vieira. Not that difficult. Depth is a good thing not a bad thing FYI.
  5. My goodness how is signing a backup C (which was absolutely a need) who rakes LHP and can DH against LHP garnering this much negativity?
  6. That's what I am guessing. C - Contreras 1B - Hoskins 2B - Turang 3B - Ortiz (until Black is called up then Black at 3B and Ortiz at 2B) SS - Adames LF - Yelich CF - Chourio RF - Frelick/Wiemer/Mitchell DH - Bauers/Sanchez platoon
  7. The power potential from the DH position just looks totally leveled up compared to last season. Brewers DH in 2023 had 682 PA and 14 HR. Bauers vs RHP last year had 12 HR in 244 PA. Sanchez vs LHP last year had 9 HR in 79 PA. That's 21 HR in 323 PA.
  8. Love this. Hated the idea of Haase or Nola as our backup C.
  9. It will never happen, but I kind of want the Brewers to do some crazy pitching system after signing Junis. Do 8 SP and 5 RP. Freddy and Miley pitch as normal SP. then have 3 sets of piggy backs with Junis-Gasser, Ross-Ashby, Rea-Hall. Have the 5 man pen be Williams, Uribe, Payamps, Milner, and a shuttle spot. Like I said it would never happen but would be super cool.
  10. Nice depth signing for the Crew.
  11. My concern with a potential 6 man rotation is how do you shuttle that bullpen? Williams, Payamps, Wilson don't have options. Milner is the only lefty and barring a collapse too good to option. Megill, Peguero and Uribe were all really good last year and probably too good to be optioned. How do you shuttle with that bullpen?
  12. My comparison is poor man's Bo Bichette. Now that may sound crazy but look at this. Bichette's 2023 MLB numbers first then Ortiz 2023 AAA numbers second Avg EV - 90.2, 90 Hard-Hit% - 44.9, 44.6 90th EV - 106.6, 105.3 Sweet-Spot% - 38.3, 38.8 Chase% - 36.4, 32 Whiff% - 21.1, 16 K% - 19.1, 17.7 BB% - 4.5, 8.2 The huge difference between the 2 is one thing. Barrel Rate. Bichette's barrel rate was 9.6% and Ortiz's was 2%. They had pretty darn similar EV numbers and contact rates. Can Ortiz start elevating the ball better is the big question. I think he can probably improve it somewhat, but doubt he improves it to the level of Bichette who is slightly above league average in barrel rate. Poor man's Bo Bichette offensively with plus middle infield glove would be a very solid regular. Hopefully Ortiz can pan out.
  13. I doubt that trade gets you Cabrera
  14. Pretty hilarious trade suggestion. 2 crappy prospects and a constantly injured SP who has had 1 good MLB season for Adames and Wiemer...talk about hack job homer trade hypothetical.
  15. Hall is absolutely not a fringe reliever. His floor is probably a high leverage RP.
  16. What an underwhelming return. Ortiz hits the ball hard but can't hit the ball in the air. Hall has incredible stuff but really shaky command. I think Hall is a sure thing MLB RP, but Ortiz has plenty of question marks and he's already 25 years old.
  17. I mean Ortiz and Hall is incredibly underwhelming so I really hope there is more to this trade.
  18. I'm hoping Baltimore's new owners wanted a flashy move and told the GM to do whatever it takes to make it happen
  19. Patrick wasn't even a signing. We traded Toro for him.
  20. Topa and Wilson have the same amount of team control. Better numbers? They had practically the same ERA but Topa did it in much higher leverage with dramatically better peripherals. Topa - 2.61 ERA, 2.93 xERA, 3.15 FIP, 3.55 xFIP, 3.47 SIERA, 1.90 WPA Wilson - 2.58 ERA, 3.98 xERA, 4.13 FIP, 4.72 xFIP, 4.31 SIERA, 1.32 WPA Wilson had a marginally better ERA but look at the gap in those peripherals, so no Wilson was not better than Topa.
  21. You're definitely underrating what Minnesota got. Topa is way better than Wilson. Houser is better and cheaper than Desclafani. Gonzalez is a top 100/fringe top 100 prospect. Bowen is a guy with good stuff and has some industry hype.
  22. Have to win ROY to get the pick not top 3.
