Cubs schedule is objectively tougher. 7 series against playoff teams or teams in the playoff race and 3 series against teams out of it.
Brewers have 5 of each.
Trevor Werner killing the Mudcats again...just hit a 3-run HR in the top of 1st to put the Mudcats down 4-0. He's absolutely killed the Mudcats in his series. In the series he now has 10 hits, 2 doubles, 4 HR, 9 RBI, and 4 BB.
Not to mention the fact the baseball was carrying an absurd amount in that game. On a normal weather day, no way Taylor or Farmer’s HR carry out of the park. Taylor’s was 46 LA which tied the season high LA HR and Farmer hit a 97 EV, 35 LA ball into the CF side of the Brewers bullpen lol.
Yeah 29 of DW’s 42 appearances this season he has entered with a 1-run lead, needing 4+ outs, or the tying run at the plate. Think this is less how Counsell has used DW and more just the fact the Brewers have had so many 1 run leads given to DW. DW could have a much lower leverage index if Brewers gave him more 2 or 3 runs leads in the 9th
Once Reds get through those games their schedule eases up quite a bit with only 3 more games the rest of the season against a playoff team after the Mariners series. The damage could be done by then if they don’t start playing better though.
Quero removed from the game after taking a brutal foul tip right to the jaw. Seemed to have been shaken up pretty good and needed to be assisted off the field.
Yelich had a .274 xwOBA in August coming into today. Have to wonder if he's totally healthy. His quality of contact and whiffs have both fallen off a cliff this month. Just been a total disaster at the plate.
Bradley Blalock removed after 2 hitters due to injury. Seemed to be holding his left side. Maybe an oblique strain or something like that? Did not seem arm related which is good.
Avina and Castillo lead off the bottom of the 7th with back to back singles. Runners on the corners with 0 outs. Reidy Mercado brought in as a pinch runner for Castillo and gets picked off at 1B. Just cannot be making mistakes like this in close games in the middle of a playoff race.
Another blown lead by the Carolina bullpen. Frustrating, but the offense has slowed down quite a bit over this losing stretch. It's asking a lot for a Low A bullpen to give you 3+ scoreless inning.
If he's not on the active 26 man roster or the MLB IL then he's not gaining service time. Him being on the AAA inactive list doesn't make a difference to his MLB service time.
He's been building his arm back after a pretty lengthy time not pitching. He's also at best the 6th best SP on the team so not sure there's a role on this team for him with him being vocally pouty about being in a mixed SP/RP role in early season 2021.
And now we are winning with Yelich in the midst of a pretty huge slump. Imagine if the rest of our bats can continue to hit well and we get that dominant summer Yelich back as well.
I posted this elsewhere but Nashville has actually played themselves into a 2nd half playoff race. They are 2 GB right now and have been playing extremely well lately.
