  1. If the Brewers re-signed those 3 players and signed Shane Bieber their payroll would be well over $150M
  2. I had heard about this article but wasn't able to read it because it was paywalled. Why am I not surprised that Lauer is the one who said this? He definitely has developed quite the taste for speaking out to the press (not that it is a bad thing but it has happened both here and San Diego)
  3. Was Hiura the number one prospect in baseball?

  5. Why do you seriously doubt that? He’s the unanimous number one prospect in baseball who had a 125 wRC+ in 130 MLB PA as a young 21 year old.

  7. I wouldn't say Pepiot dominated. He had a 5.42 FIP, 6.69 BB/9, and 26.4% GB-rate in his 36 MLB innings last year. The results were good with the 3.47 ERA but the underlying numbers were very far from dominant which to me means he had a lot of good fortune with his super limited sample size.
  8. I'm not saying BTV is the end all be all, but Burnes for Henderson, Hall, Rodriguez is nearly a $100M overpay on BTV. It's not even remotely a fair trade. I doubt Baltimore would even accept Burnes for Henderson straight up.

  10. Baltimore laughs Arnold off the phone if he suggests that.

  12. I'm also going to clarify this. Barring a big improvement and season next year he still shouldn't be put on the 40-man next offseason. In 480 PA this season Garcia slashed .259/.300/.407 with a 4.0% BB-rate and 33.8% K-rate. In his 108 PA at A+ he didn't draw a single walk. He needs to make substantial improvements to be deserving of a 40-man spot next offseason.
  13. Garcia is rule 5 eligible this winter according to fangraphs. There's no reason he should be put on the 40 man right now.
  14. If the Orioles did ask for Burnes it would be managerial malpractice to say Rodriguez doesn’t have to be included. I still can’t see them trading Rodriguez though. Would be such a short sighted move from a team whose window is just starting to open.
  15. I’m very high on Henderson as well. His recorded spin rates are elite. There’s a lot of upside there.
  16. Pat Hoberg World Series MVP.
  17. I was talking age in comparison to when the contracts were signed. Was pretty clear.
  18. You said Woodruff's extension doesn't kick in until his final year of arb? Either Woodruff is older and his extension kicks in during 2024 or Woodruff is younger and his extension kicks in for 2023 which factors in two arb years and is too big of a contract. Castillo's contract takes him through his age 34 season. If Woodruff's extension kicks in during 2024 like you said then it would take him through his age 35 season (a year older than Castillo). So which is it?
  19. Pretty sure they were talking about their C prospect rankings not overall.
  20. I read that the players had the choice to opt out of those interviews. Don't see any issues with it if the players are okay with it.
  21. Burnes had an oblique injury that ended his 2020 season early. They both have 1 IL stint in their MLB careers and Castillo has pitched over 300 more innings than Burnes in his career. Neither of them have any serious injury concerns.
  22. From 2016 to 2022 Scherzer's defense had -3 OAA and -3 runs prevented while he was pitching. From 2016 to 2022 Rodon's defense had 1 OAA and 2 runs prevented while he was pitching. From 2016 to 2022 deGrom's defense had 6 OAA and 4 runs prevented while he was pitching. From 2016 to 2022 Nola's defense had -14 OAA and -11 runs prevented while he was pitching. Nola's numbers are 267/277 in terms of OAA support and 266/277 in term of run prevention support.
  23. What injury history does Luis Castillo have? He has 1 IL stint in his MLB career and from what I can see he didn't have any injury history in his minor league career.
  24. The big prospects in the Castillo trade were a 20 year old and 18 year old in A-ball. That's a huge difference compared to Grayson Rodriguez who is a 22 year old who would have already made his MLB debut if it wasn't for an injury.
  25. Mets reporter believes Orioles will be involved for deGrom this offseason.
