  1. For the life of me I don't understand why the Brewers threw a 1-2 FB to Avi where they did. Just put it right in his sweet spot.
  2. The issue isn't how Wong handled the play (he handled it well) it was him not running hard to 3B after the ball dropped. If he was running hard to 3B after the ball dropped then he likely scores when the LF lost track of the ball but because he loafed it to 3B him scoring was not a possibility.
  3. Why? As long as he's an average MLB player which he has been this year and last it makes no sense DFA him and pay him not to be on the roster.
  4. Since the beginning of August the Brewers bullpen has the most meltdowns in the MLB (when a reliever lowers his teams win probability by 6% or more) with 41 and we are 26th in bullpen WPA. Bullpen has been a total failure since the deadline. The offense hasn't been great but our bullpen has been given numerous leads in lower scoring games in the last few months and has choked a ton of them away. Fixing the bullpen and bringing in a big bat are priority 1A and 1B this offseason.
  5. Higher rated team gets all 3 at home so if we make it we would play St. Louis 3 times in St. Louis.
  6. So this topic is fair game but Yelich's contract isn't? You need to update me with the rules of game threads.
  7. 538 has us at 47% and Philly at 56%. They project both of us to end at 87-75.

  9. Abreu likely would mean Yelich starts the year if LF with Abreu and Rowdy playing 1B/DH. If the OF kids are knocking on the door for more playing time you can always trade Rowdy/Renfroe to open up spots at some point in the season.
  10. Agreed. I don't think it makes sense to have Woodruff pitch on short rest. Pitching SP on short rest has proven to a be a mixed bag and the overall numbers are worse when SP go on short rest.
  11. I've seen some suggest Abreu. Other than him I'm not sure what expensive FA would make sense for the Brewers.
  12. He's not seeing the ball well again and he's chasing a ton because of it. He struckout both times in his last 2 AB despite only 1 of the 10 pitches Quintana threw him being in the strike zone.
  13. They could but he’s out of options after this season so there really isn’t much of a point in keeping him on the 40-man.

  15. Why do you continue speaking like the Brewers absolutely did not try to sign Burnes earlier during team control is a fact and not rampant speculation from you?
  16. Yeah because they have actually had success drafting in the last decade which has kept both their team and farm strong. Brewers farm was decimated after the Yelich trade because we have sucked in the draft for a decade. Here's a comparison of total bWAR from players drafted (and signed) by the Brewers and Cardinals from 2010 to 2020. Doesn't include players drafted and not signed. Brewers have 40.7 bWAR from pitchers and 32.3 bWAR from position players for a total of 73 bWAR as of today. Cardinals have 63.5 bWAR from pitchers and 101.1 bWAR from position players for a total of 164.6 bWAR as of today. So in an 11 draft span the Cardinals have drafted 91.6 more bWAR than the Brewers have.

  18. I don't even think Mark is a billionaire. At least I can't find any sources that list his net worth in the billions.
  19. Yelich is definitely not the same guy now that he was when we traded for him. He's a similar style but worse version. Yelich 4 full seasons in Miami he averaged 4.1 bWAR per 650 PA. In 21 and 22 Yelich is averaging 2.1 bWAR per 650 PA.
  20. That's just nasty. Thanks for giving the data. Just need to show that picture when people are upset he doesn't play more.
  21. Yelich's contract is an albatross for the Brewers. He's taking up 20% of our payroll and giving us 5.8% of our team WAR. That's debilitating for a small market team.
  22. He's underperforming a 7 year contract in year 1 as a 30 year old. It's only going to get worse. These types of contracts you need huge value up front to counteract the fall off that will come with age (basically how Lo Cain managed to perform to his contract because of a huge year 1)
  23. I feel like he can at least foul pitches off that are up and away and just straight up. Against up and in he just can't touch it. Mikolas located his pitches and dispatched Hiura like he was nothing.
  24. Hiura's complete inability to get the bat on FB up and in is just so sad. Just a gigantic hole in his swing.
  25. I just don’t see the reason the Brewers would extend Lauer. Pitchers of Lauer’s ability rarely ever get extensions. They are pretty much exclusively handled year by year. Out of the 109 SP with 200 IP in the last two years, Lauer is 85th in FIP, 89th in HR/9, and 79th in K/BB. Locking ourselves into 4 years of a pitcher of Lauer’s caliber seems like a move we would likely come to regret.
