The Sounds found home cooking to their liking after a 12-game roadtrip. The bottom-line W-L results weren't pretty elsewhere, though as usual, we found positives to spotlight. The ultra-thin Maryvale lineup managed a victory to cap the night. We also detail two busy days' worth of transactions. It's a couple of rare weekday morning entries from yours truly this week, happy to be along for the ride! Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Let's catch up! Transactions (Monday/Tuesday): 05/20/24 Milwaukee Brewers optioned CF Chris Roller to Nashville Sounds. 05/20/24 Milwaukee Brewers recalled RHP Bradley Blalock from Biloxi Shuckers. 05/20/24 Biloxi Shuckers released RF Justin Dirden (initial indication is that Dirden retired voluntarily). 05/20/24 Carolina Mudcats placed SS Kay-Lan Nicasia on the 7-day injured list. 05/20/24 ACL Brewers placed RHP Ismael Yanez on the 7-day injured list retroactive to May 19, 2024. 05/21/24 Milwaukee Brewers recalled RHP Tobias Myers from Nashville Sounds. 05/21/24 Nashville Sounds transferred C Nick Kahle to the Development List. 05/21/24 Nashville Sounds activated LHP Nick Bennett. 05/21/24 3B Ben Metzinger assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from Nashville Sounds. 05/21/24 RHP Dencer Geraldo assigned to ACL Brewers from DSL Brewers 2. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 10, Charlotte (White Sox) 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds' Offense Explodes in Rout of Charlotte in Opener - Brewer Hicklen and Wes Clarke homer in Nashville’s 10-3 victory The Nashville Sounds (23-23) scored in each of the first six innings. Yeah, that's a nice way to kick off the first linked affiliate game summary of the day. One does wonder what impact Brewer Hicklen (home run, triple walk, 18th steal in 21 tries) would have had on the big-league roster as the right-handed OF/pinch-hitter option vs. Joey Wiemer and the brief Chris Roller MLB stint. Dude has been incredible, and yet, the Brewers insist on infielder Vinny Capra maintaining his 40-man roster spot. Tyler Black on base four times (single, walk, two HBP's). His own stolen base was his 7th in eight AAA tries this season. The Sounds were only 3-for-15 with RISP and stranded ten, so enjoy the crooked Oliver Dunn, Isaac Collins and Eric Haase numbers knowing the rout could have been even wider. For all we hear about the White Sox organization and their weak farm system, the Knights' 19-26 record is poor but not abominable. But yes, it's a homestand kickoff from which the Sounds can build some momentum. You can find a bunch of Nashville video highlights here, but they are silent. Either the Sounds are incredibly unlucky from a technology standpoint in 2024, or they are in need of a do-over on the season. These issues only seem to happen when Nashville's at home. But let's face it, compared to years gone by, we as fans are still blessed and lucky with what's available to us. First world problems, and the Sounds will figure it out. Outside of Abner Uribe's difficult 9th inning (he's been spot-on otherwise since his demotion), pitching was very good here, and credit to LH starter Nick Bennett for the effort, needed after planned starter Tobias Myers' call-up. Biloxi Media Notes Final: Birmingham (White Sox) 6, Biloxi 2 Box Score and Game Log Biloxi Falls to Birmingham on Tuesday Night, 6-2 - Boeve, Rodriguez reach base multiple times in series opener at Shuckers Ballpark Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake does his best as always to highlight the positives within his game summary, something we always strive for here as well. In that sense, the linked article above is worth your while. But all five Biloxi hits were singles. They did reach via walk four times, but that overall lack of offensive production has been all-too-common, difficult Southern League environment noted, but that sidenote can only go so far in the long run. Eric Brown, Jr. opened the game with a fly ball single to center, stole his 8th base, but after a Mike Boeve walk, made the first out at third base when he was caught stealing for the third time in 2024. Aggression encouraged, but perhaps greed is not? While solid overall this season, this is the 3rd outing in six for LH reliever Russell Smith that has been uneven at best. Blake Holub stranded three of Smith's baserunners or Tuesday would have been uglier. Shame on me, because I said I'd get off this train, but let's see what fellow southpaw Andrew Abbott, selected two picks after Smith in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft, did not just last night, but season-to-date. Note to self: Stop it, Jim. Get over it. Every MLB organization can look at similar close call draft-day misses. You'll find a few clips via the Shuckers here. We don't want to be a pest, but for your behalf and because we haven't pestered in a while, we'll ask about the disabled center-field camera view one more time. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: South Bend (Cubs) 7, Wisconsin 1 Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Hit a Sour Note in Loss at South Bend - Cubs beat Wisconsin 7-1 to open series at Four Winds Field Seems all that focus on the outstanding Timber Rattlers defense was going to jinx the club and level off at some point, and that linked game summary details the awkwardness of some of the goings-on Tuesday. Should you be in the mood for rehabbing Drew Smyly and other video, the South Bend feed provides. Gee, the Twins' Cedar Rapids club won their 8th in a row, and Wisconsin's division lead is down to one-half a game. Among the nine in the lineup, take your guess as the current OPS leader on the club. Check out the box score link, I bet you're incorrect. This was RHP Patricio Aquino's first relief appearance of 2024, though wouldn't read too much into that, as his prior two starts were very solid. Aquino has now allowed only three runs in 14 innings over his most recent three appearances, 11 H, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 10 K. The Dominican native's 47 pro appearances include 43 starts. Best part of this contest for the T-Rats: Two hours, one minute. Final: Myrtle Beach (Cubs) 5, Carolina 2 Box Score and Game Log Mudcats Drop Opener to Myrtle Beach Yophery Rodriguez doesn't turn 19 years old until December. Through 136 AB's, a .243/.340/.412 line (.752 OPS) works! The baserunning (4 SB, 3 CS) and the pickoff in this one is pending development, Thing of beauty: Speaking of standings, the Muddies remain one game out - still a few weeks to go in the first half, My goodness, despite the loss here, we should all be such Manuel Rodriguez fans. The 18-year-old (again, just 18 until August 8th) has walked TWO batters in his seven starts. Heck, he has three HBP's, including one on Tuesday. Rodriguez' WHIP is under 1.00 at 0.98, and he has fanned 33 in 35.2 innings. Stud. Overall, the Mudcats' roster seems effective but not overly standout-ish (not a real word). At 23-15, they've earned our attention, we're just kind of waiting on the "we can't wait to see this player at upper levels in the future" wow factor pop. Final from Monday: ACL Guardians 10, ACL Brewers 9, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Final from Tuesday: ACL Brewers 7, ACL White Sox 4 Box Score and Game Log Prior to Tuesday's game, 18-year-old switch-hitting 2B/SS/LF Luiyin Alastre's last nine plate appearances: HR, 2B, 1B, 1B, BB, 1B (SB), 1B, 1B, 1B On Tuesday, Alastre walked in five appearances, driving in a run on a groundout. My fellow Link Reporter Daniel noted over on our forum: I’m guessing Manager Rafael Neda is dealing with a thin bench in Arizona. INF Tyler Rodriguez and C Yannic Walthier haven’t played since May 10 and 13, respectively. OF Pedro Ibarguen left his last game (May 18) after the 1st inning. So that may mean that only 10 position players are available at the moment. Time will tell. NOTE: Actually, it may be nine only, as OF/DH Angel Pereira exited Monday's game early, and did not play Tuesday. Welcome to the 165-man stateside MiLB roster limit, folks. It would normally be completely unfathomable to think that the Maryvale squad (remember when there were two just two years ago?), would be facing this crunch. 20-year-old LH catcher Edgardo Ordonez, a LH-swinging Venezuela native, homered in each of these games, and in a not-so-small Dominican Summer League and Arizona Complex League sample of 298 AB's, has an .840 OPS. Not shabby... On the subject of 18-year-old Venezuelans, my goodness, shortstop Filippo Di Turi. Expanding his season-long highlight reel, Di Turi was 3-for-5 with an HBP and four walks in the two games. Through 64 plate appearances this season, his OBP is a mind-blowing .578. A .500 SLG is just fine also, thank you. Kudos to 19-year-old Venezuelan southpaw Anthony Flores on placing a semblance of effectiveness among the ranks. He shone on Tuesday and earned his relief win - 4 scoreless IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 5 K. Catch Chris Mehring's radio call from South Bend here for a 10:05 AM Central first pitch. It's evening action for the other three affiliates, and the Maryvale kids are idle and hope to get healthier. Have a nice spring weekday, everyone! Your 2024 Wisconsin Timber Rattlers
Jim Goulart replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Luis Lara left the game Saturday after stealing a base. Looked like a hand/finger injury. Maybe a dislocation/broken finger based on his reaction. Actually, Lara only suffered a laceration on this play, and apparently the sight of his own blood was not comforting, as he fell back onto his backside. Stitches were required, and he should be back in action late this week, it seems. This was all discussed in the latest version of the Timber Rattlers' postgame podcast (Dropbox direct link) with Chris Mehring and Kyle Lobner. A very worthwhile episode, as it includes the full DL Hall presser, of which only a small portion was made available via Twitter. -

NOTE: With the Maryvale game standing alone, there will not be a traditional Link Report on Tuesday AM solely on this late-evening contest. This Monday game, along with Tuesday's Maryvale game, will be further detailed in the Link Report which I'll compose overnight Tuesday night, to be released early Wednesday AM.

In general, the power was there for the Brewers this week, but the patchwork starting rotation is barely getting by. There is a first-place Wisconsin team providing fans with a bunch of exciting, well-executed baseball these days. Oh wait, there's actually two, and the young men in Appleton put on another show on Saturday. Was another of the organization's top prospects banged up during the proceedings? Meanwhile, the Sounds were skunked, the Shuckers displayed life at the plate, the Mudcats got muddy, and the Maryvale kids hunkered down for a long, long contest. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Let's check it all out! Transactions: Biloxi Shuckers activated LHP Adam Seminaris from the 7-day injured list Wisconsin Timber Rattlers released RHP Joseph Hernandez The January 2023 deal in which Brewers RH reliever Justin Topa was dealt to Seattle for Hernandez will go down as a rare misfire for GM Matt Arnold. The Mariners got a very solid big-league season from Topa, and then spun him to Minnesota with three others for Jorge Polanco. Topa has yet to throw an MLB pitch for the Twins, as he's rehabbing a knee injury. As for Hernandez, he missed two months in the middle of last season and was delayed on rejoining the Timber Rattlers this spring. The Instagram account of brewersfarm has more on a rather middling Brewers' experience. Hernandez only turns 24 next month, so it would not be surprising to see him find an affiliated home elsewhere in time, best wishes to Joseph. One additional transaction note - Baseball America reported that Milwaukee released RHP Jolon "Lun" Zhao, the native of Beijing, China signed by the Crew in June of 2018. Zhao made six very nice appearances in that age 16 season in Maryvale and Helena. Tommy John surgery and subsequent rehab complications, along with the lost Covid season, meant that Zhao did not pitch officially again until 2021 back in Maryvale. Zhao would open 2022 in Carolina, was hit hard in two brief appearances, and landed on the injured list, from which he retired in late June. The formal announcement of his release at this time means the Brewers have relinquished his rights, there may have been paperwork delays on Zhao's part. Regardless, a fascinating side venture by the team has ended. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Jacksonville (Marlins) 10, Nashville 0 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds' Win Streak Ends in Shut Out Loss to Jacksonville - Rehabbing Marlins infielder Tim Anderson has four hits, scores five runs in Jumbo Shrimp’s 10-0 win Before we get to Aaron Ashby commentary, we'll take a quick peek at the Sounds' suddenly overcrowded roster. Keeping in mind the AAA active roster limit is 28, we see 12 position players (not counting MLB rehabber Joey Wiemer) and 16 pitchers. So even with the previously reported placements of LHP Nick Bennett and RHP Nolan Blackwood to the nebulous Development List, there are all kinds of mound options for Manager Rick Sweet. Via Cot's Contracts: LHP Aaron Ashby signed extension with Milwaukee 7/23/22 5 years/$20.5M (2023-27), plus 2028-2029 club options $1M signing bonus 23: $1M, 24: $1.25M, 25: $3.25M, 26: $5.5M, 27: $7.5M, 28: $9M club option ($1M buyout), 29: $13M club option You can understand why the Brewers will be patient with Aaron. That's a guaranteed $16.25 million over three years starting in 2025. Seven hits and four walks within his four innings here (81 pitches). It would be nice to see real evidence of command improvement, but it's not like Ashby was ever exemplary in that area even when healthy. Take the money when offered, young pitchers. I was curious about the three unearned runs in the 6th allowed by RHP Harold Chirino, so I checked out the error charged to Joey Wiemer in center field. Wiemer had to race into right-center and was a step onto the warning track when he reached out and the ball just nicked his glove and fell to the ground. It was a catchable ball, but I'm calling it a double based on Joey's proximity to the wall. Ironically the very next batter sends a high fly directly to Wiemer, but Joey can't find it as he's running in, extending his arms to indicate as such. The ball drops, two more runs score, and because that ball wasn't touched at all, it was ruled a base hit. It just seems like all of last year's outfield "freshmen" have inexplicably taken a step back defensively in '24 (Wiemer, Frelick, Perkins - Chourio, too). Tyler Black reappeared, started at first base, and the handwringing there ends. Biloxi Media Notes Final: Biloxi 5, Mississippi (Braves) 2 Box Score and Game Log Bowman Sets Season-High with 3.1 Innings, Leads Shuckers to 5-2 Win over M-Braves - Shuckers’ lineup sets series-high with five runs, 10 hits in win Ten hits and six walks for Biloxi, nice to see, though Zavier Warren's double was the lone knock for extra bases. Shame on us for quibbling, we will take Shuckers offense like this every night based on what we discussed yesterday regarding Southern League output overall. Welcome back, Ernesto Martinez after a full week idle (1-for-4 as the designated hitter). Eric Brown, Jr. doubled in his final at-bat Friday, then reached three times on Saturday. He has a long road to climb, but we hope the exciting 2023 Arizona Fall League version of Brown, Jr. is ready to fly. When are we allowed to get truly excited about Jacob Misiorowski performances? Not yet. Only 37 strikes among his 79 pitches here. Five walks in 3.2 innings, allowing only a single unearned run. Kaleb Bowman kindly stranded a baserunner for Misiorowski. Jacob is officially boring in a good but frustrating way, isn't he? We pretty much know what the line is going to look like every time out, and with the new MiLB schedule, it's a once-a-week event. Can a pitcher be unhittable and unwatchable at the same time? Apparently, the answer is yes. Really happy for Kaleb Bowman, his world tour backstory is fascinating (from July 2023), and he's bounced back in a big way since his 2023 introduction to the AA level. The Brewers are doing some pretty cool things stretching out the Biloxi bullpen guys, with RHP Shane Smith just joining the starting rotation and Bowman seemingly headed down a similar path. Long gone are the days of one-inning bullpen arms in the minors, as starter innings are just as reduced as in the bigs, actually, more so. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 4, Beloit (Marlins) 2 Box Score and Game Log Chirinos Blasts Rattlers Past Beloit - Three-run walkoff homer saves Wisconsin I know it's tempting to immediately roll the highlights, but I really suggest you devour the game summary first this morning. It's a bit like reading the spoilers of a fine movie with a blockbuster ending, but it'll put everything in context for you. Yup, you nailed it, Chris! Chris and Kyle Lobner don't have their postgame podcasts when the following day is a matinee. Too bad, because this one was a doozy. RHP Alexander Cornielle's sweet scoreless inning streak is still intact, and he needed only 66 pitches to finish up five frames here. Cornielle did walk two and plunk two, but that's good work regardless. If you didn't check out Alex's radio appearance this week, you should, an impressive young man. Another productive day for shortstop Gregory Barrios, what a breakout campaign thus far that few saw coming, though perhaps Brewers' brass had an inkling. From poster wiguy94 on our Minor League Forum: Luis Lara left the game after stealing a base. Looked like a hand/finger injury. Maybe a dislocation/broken finger based on his reaction. Sigh, darn those gigantic pizza box bases. We like to keep our nice things healthy! Postponed, Carolina Press Release: KINSTON, N.C. - Saturday's game between the Carolina Mudcats and Down East Wood Ducks (Rangers) has been postponed due to inclement weather at Grainger Stadium in Kinston, N.C. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader, featuring two seven-inning games Sunday, May 19, beginning at 1:00 PM Eastern Time. Final: ACL Diamondbacks 16, ACL Brewers 13 Box Score and Game Log On a 90-degree sunny day with an 11:00 AM local start time, these two clubs battled for a pitch clock-less three hours and 51 minutes! 29 runs, 32 hits, two errors (both by the A-Crew), 17 walks, three HBP's (all by A-Crew pitchers), three wild pitches, a balk, an outfield assist, action on the basepaths, and a partridge in a pear tree. Highly regarded first-time state-sider CF Pedro Ibarguen (.884 OPS in the DSL in 2023) had a busy defensive bottom of the first but was pinch-hit for in the second. Ibarguen is off to a slow start at the plate in the new year. As you can imagine, the box score is stuffed otherwise. 18-year-old switch-hitting middle infielder and occasional left fielder Luiyin Alastre had a monster game in what has been a monster stateside start to his season. Now all we have to do is learn how to pronounce and remember how to spell the Venezuelan's name. While Alastre's home run in this game was his first of 2024, 2023 3rd round pick Eric Bitonti is more familiar with the full trot around the bases, clubbing his 4th of the season in this one (through 46 at-bats). The hulking 18-year-old LH-swinging third baseman is projecting as a three-true-outcome favorite, The pitching lines are a mishmash, tough to decipher much this early into things. This is a very young group compared to other complex league rosters. The Arizona kids get to rest on their traditional Sunday off. The Mudcats hope to play the aforementioned twinbill. There will be a DL Hall sighting in Appleton, exciting! RHP's Tyler Woessner and TJ Shook look to continue recent fine efforts at the upper two levels. Have a nice day, everyone! Let's check it all out! For the second time in two weeks, a Brewers affiliate was the victim of a no-hitter, even if the latest was of the seven-inning variety. Overall, the system was at .500 for the day, so we do manage to extract some goodness within the action. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Let's get started! Transaction: This is more of an MiLB.com correction than a transaction. Carolina LHP Osbriel Mogollon was listed as transferred to Maryvale earlier this week but was suddenly back and pitching for the Mudcats three days later. Or so it seemed. Turns out it was an online snafu by MiLB and Mogollon is indeed in Arizona. This was figured out within three posts last night in our Minor League Forum "as-it-happens" thread. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes (unavailable as of post time) Final: Nashville 4, Jacksonville (Marlins) 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Bullpen Hangs on for Tight Win in Jacksonville - Carlos Rodriguez has quality start in 4-3 victory Keep pitching Carlos Rodriguez on the latter part of the workweek, Brewers. Clearly he benefits from getting umpire calls on the edges and avoiding the strict Automated Ball/Strike system. It's apparently how his game plays. Carlos is listed at 6'0", 206. Does he look like he could be a bit under that 6-foot mark? Inherited runners-scored: Middendorf 3-0. Ryan came in with only one out to bail out usually solid southpaw Rob Zastryzny - kudos, Manager Rick Sweet (and Mr. Middendorf).. Speaking of the bullpen, another fantastic outing for RHP Enoli Paredes, save #5, pitching around a two-out HBP. It's quite possible that Voice of the Sounds Jeff Hem discussed Tyler Black's missing-in-action status, idle for a second game after exiting early on Wednesday, but sorry, don't have a morning update for you today. You can, however, catch up with Jeff in an interview he provided Nashville radio - go to the 23:50 minute mark here. Among the topics he discusses is how Carlos Rodriguez was pitching in front of friends and family on this Florida start. The Sounds won despite the Jumbo Shrimp throwing some serious defense at them. Isaac Collins was the victim of a fine play by the first baseman to end the 3rd inning (video), Freddy Zamora thought he had a right-field XBH here, and finally, watch what old friend Jonathan Davis did to Joey Wiemer: Despite those roadblocks, nice win for the Sounds! P.S. "Oliver Dunn led off the game on the first pitch with a 106.8 mph home run to right-center field." - Did you read the summary from the Sounds? If you did, you knew! Biloxi Pre-Doubleheader Media Notes Final, Game One: Biloxi 3, Mississippi (Braves) 1, eight innings (scheduled for seven) Box Score and Game Log Final, Game Two: Mississippi 2, Biloxi 0, seven innings Box Score and Game Log Shuckers Split Doubleheader at Trustmark Park on Friday against M-Braves - Biloxi wins game one in eight innings, M-Braves toss no-hitter in game two Yeah, it was only two weeks ago to the day when Nashville was a no-hit victim by the same 2-0 score. Noah Campbell was the Sounds' designated hitter that day, and he was 0-for-3 with two K's. Since transferred down to Biloxi. Campbell started in left field, was 0-for-2 with one K. Adding injury to insult for Noah, he had to be replaced when he reached on a force-out in the 5th inning. Campbell's at-bat begins at the 01:16:20 hour/minute mark here for MiLB TV subscribers. Campbell was favoring his right foot, attempted to test it by jogging once Manager Joe Ayrault came out to check, and was pulled in what appeared to be a "let's play it safe" decision. MiLB has a problem. Well, more specifically, the Southern League has a problem, as does most of AA. Here's the Southern League team offense figures, as well as the Eastern League's (we'll bypass the Texas League for this discussion). Double-A pitchers are all about big arms seeking refinement, but those arms are blowing away batters at this level. It can't be very entertaining for fans, it sure isn't for box score crunchers, and the players wielding the bats, many of whom remain very talented, have to be frustrated. Then, consider where this series is taking place: Sure, the Shuckers scored three runs in Game One, but needed the ghost runner in the 8th to kick things off. Thankfully, both Eric Brown's double and Brock Wilken's single were line drives. Hey, kudos to the M-Braves' hurler on the no-no. All kinds of video coverage on the Mississippi "X" feed, with our old friend and former Voice of the Shuckers Chris Harris on the call. We have yet to learn what's behind Ernesto Martinez' weeklong absence, but no formal IL placement, so that's a positive, one would think. Martinez turns just 25 next month, despite his 2017 debut. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 4, Beloit (Marlins) 2 Box Score and Game Log Comeback Rattlers Beat Beloit 4-2 - Herrera pitches four scoreless innings in relief as offense scratches out four runs Jheremy Vargas' expression after being robbed by the right fielder is something. But like Nashville on this night, victory despite the leather flashing on the other side. Although, the failure to cover first base by Beloit proved helpful on the go-ahead run. - by the way, I think Tayden Hall should have been called out on that play. Dylan O'Rae on base four times, and now 19-for-23 in stolen base attempts. Did you catch Francisco Castro's recent Brewer Fanatic video interview with O'Rae? Terence Doston and Eduarqui Fernandez both on base thrice. Wonderful tandem effort from lefty Brian Fitzpatrick and Yujanyer Herrera. There is no greater reason to dismiss MiLB player page vitals than seeing they have the 20-year-old Herrera listed at 175 pounds still. Hey, if it works for Yujanyer... This Wisconsin team is so effectively efficient thus far in 2024. Final: Down East (Rangers) 5, Carolina 4 Box Score and Game Log Late Run Propels Down East Past Mudcats The Mudcats definitely received help from the Wood Ducks in their four-run 4th inning, but it's worth your while to view the game log and see how the frame came together. Speedster outfielder Yhoswar Garcia is posting numbers at the plate not seen during his Phillies' tenure, but the Brewers have unlocked something here. In an age where the 165 stateside player limit looms large, limiting the number of players brought in from other organizations or the independent ranks, hitting (so far) on the 22-year-old Garcia could prove big, and has certainly been worthwhile thus far. Josh Knoth is only 18 years old for all of this season, so we should look at his efforts as the proverbial dipping of the professional toe, especially at the full-season level (not Maryvale). Knoth's game logs have been middling, but at least his six K's vs. one walk Friday was nice to see. Welcome back to Carolina for the first time since 2021, RHP Brailin Rodriguez! It's been a long and sometimes bumpy road back from injury (we never did get a definitive word on the nature of his extended absence, which included missing all of 2022). Final: ACL Padres 7, ACL Brewers 4, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Maryvale drops to 3-7 on the season. Five singles and six walks on the day. Like the Mudcats, the A-Crew scored all four of their runs within a single inning. You know the drill, the game log for the 4th inning, which brought the good guys as close as they would get at 5-4, awaits you. Who will shine brightest on the farmhand mounds on Saturday? Jacob Misiorowski for the Shuckers? Alexander Cornielle in Appleton, the lone early afternoon action among the full-season squads? Maybe Aaron Ashby and/or Yorman Galindez will have something to say about that. Enjoy your day, everyone!
