  1. I guess I'm curious. Is it then okay to curse here in foreign languages? Seriously? I think you're either being a tad arrogant here, or completely misunderstanding the use of the word. You can't "curse", but you could, for example, say someone is a boob.
  2. I wish I could go in and fire people, it'd make my job way more enjoyable. Instead, the contingencies dictate that I can't go Gordon Ramsey on anyone. This is a major reason I'm looking for a new job. When you spend all day dealing with the problems of ridiculous people who you can't fire, you start to feel like you're wasting all of your time on nonsense. If I could cut 3 employees loose, my productivity would probably triple.
  3. I don't think anyone would consider "schmuck" profane, unless they were a Yiddish speaker and lived a couple of centuries ago.
  4. As a Norwegian, I find the Minnesota Vikings to be insulting and disgraceful because they suck. They portray my people as a bunch of wimps and chokers who wear purple and are afraid to be outside in the winter.
  5. Good. I hope that schmuck has a bit of humility now, if not, this'll help.
  6. The guay community is not offended by being called guay. So why should society or brewerfan think it's a bad word? It's not! Yeah, the whole point to you seems like a slider in the dirt to Jenkins. The issue is not the word "gay", it's saying "something sucks and I don't like it" but using "gay' instead. I obviously have no problem with the term "white guy" but if "white guy" became the term for "child molester", I'd prefer the term not be used.
  7. I would prefer getting "good" seats if I were visiting a park for the first time. They have those there? I couldn't believe it when I went there last summer and they were actually charging major league ticket prices to sit under a hefty bag in a gigantic pile of crap. The only reason I can see someone wanting to "experience" the Metrodome is so they can say "I watched a baseball game in the most pathetic pile of garbage to ever pass for a major league venue".
  8. They see me rollin' They hatin' http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/cnty/cntydepts/health/pubadmin/persprop/previous/images/10.jpg
  9. I don't know also why you'd want him up for only 2/3rd of the year next year? If the guys ready, he's ready. Why hold him back. It depends on what his role in Milwaukee would be. Like with the Corey Hart situation, I'd rather see him tear AAA apart than rot on the big league bench. Laporta has been great so far, but he's still young enough to have plenty to learn, and I'd rather he keeps learning through playing than only progressing through BP with the big boys.
  10. Flonase is great. Plus it's generic now, so I only pay $10.
  11. He sucked, but oh well, not like plenty of other players didn't suck for the early 2000's Brewers. I don't really get booing a guy who left amicably simply because he was crappy, unless his crappiness really hurt your team, like the crappy player who single-handedly blew a couple of games to lose the playoff race or playoff series. Had we made the playoffs and he committed a couple huge errors while going 1-18 at the plate, I'd understand it a little better.
  12. Zyrtec worked for me when others failed. Also, the generic is now available at Sam's Club for barely more than the cost of ibuprofen.
  13. At least there won't be any more vampires in prison.
  14. As if Corey Hart wasn't already brutally handsome. It'd be awesome if Craig Counsell proved everyone wrong with this http://www.worldbeardchampionships.com/images/elmarbyzach.jpg
  15. I rode the shuttle from my hotel downtown once and it was awesome. Everyone could drink freely and not have to worry about parking, traffic, or one of us having to be designated driver.
  16. You'd be better served by replacing a meal with "filler". I lost a ton of weight by basically taking half of a meal and replacing it with cabbage, spinach, and apples that have low caloric value and also stick in your stomach for awhile. Also, never drink your calories, soda and high calorie drinks make you fat.
  17. So, did you ask if you could get an autographed picture from him? No, he asked if HE could sign Hammonds' cast.
  18. I watched Cloverfield tonight. Apparently, I missed the point, other than "it's The Blair Witch Project" with an alien and in a city".
  19. Like bunting, IBB, depends on the crappiness of hitters. Having a crappy hitter but good bunter bunt is relatively favorable in many situations like walking a great hitter to get to a very crappy one. It also depends on how many runs you're playing for, like the bunt. If there's a man on second and you have your RH closer against an elite LH hitter in a 1-run game with 2 out, it's more favorable to walk him to get to a RH'er who's also a weaker hitter.
  20. Fans of a team with Prince Fielder are calling players on other teams fat? Glass houses, etc. I'd call Prince fat if he played 3B.
  21. Considering we have Cameron coming back soon and Kapler playing great as a fill-in, I'm pretty happy that we got a guy who was picked #47 two years ago for a backup OF. Only a maniac would think Kapler can keep this rate up, but we can hope he's not far from Gross' .766 OPS last year.
  22. I think the whole offense has been so crappy that nobody is focusing on a single player. If Braun, Fielder, Hardy, Hart, and Rickie were at or near expectations while Hall was at his current production, there'd probably be far more criticism. Then again, we'd also be riding high on a commanding division lead, so maybe Bill would still be given a free pass.
  23. I know why that word can't be used but I never really thought of it used in that context as derogatory to anyone. I always felt that was a word that has several meanings. It's the problem we always face in needing to keep up with the people who use terms as pejorative. Just look at this history of words used to describe the cognitively disabled, as discussed above. Initially, certain terms have no ill-will attached to them and are simply a label. Then people find ways to use them as an insult, and we have to change our terminology to differentiate ourselves from those who use the term to mean something bad. Many derogatory terms were once innocent, but then became insulting. "Negro", for example, was once a term that had far more dignity and respect attached to it when compared to the other term people used to express hatred. Then that term itself was used in a disrespectful way, and for us decent people to differentiate ourselves, we switched to using African-American. What is respectful at one point will eventually become pejorative. We'll one day look back at the current era with disbelief that we ever used the term "handicapped". It's inconvenient for those who mean absolutely no harm, but jerks will always "ruin" our vocabulary and out of respect we need to change the words we use.
  24. Is it possible that perhaps you're discounting your ability to care for the kid? It seems that those who are most qualified (teachers, etc in this case) are often the most critical of their own abilities and intentions. It may be that you're a far superior fit for this situation than most others would be, but you're hard on yourself for not being the perfect fit who doesn't really exist.
