  1. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c311/bbedoll89/ta%20tas/dwight.jpg Brain teaser: 3 men go into a motel. The clerk says the room is $30, so each man paid $10 and went to the room. A while later, the desk clerk realized the room was only $25, so he sent the bellboy to the 3 guys' room with the extra $5. On the way, the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5 evenly between 3 men so he gave each man $1 and kept the other $2 for himself. This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which made a total of $27. Add to that the $2 the bellboy kept and the total is $29. Where is the other dollar?
  2. He'll either be dominant and someone will give him just a ton of money or he'll suck/be injured and we won't want him back at what he'll still cost. The only way I see him back is if he's simply mediocre and signs a 1 year extension to build up FA value for 2010. Of course, that'd also probably mean the team would ave to be great and he thought we'd give him the visibility that'd help restore his value. I'd put the odds at 20:1.
  3. I always remember the rumors surrounding the sale of the team and how we almost unanimously favored Gilbert over Attanasio. There's a little egg on our collective faces now.
  4. Scary stuff, I hope things aren't any more serious. I hate when this happens to Cubs players and I have to stop and feel sorry for them when I'm reminded that they're people and not goblins.
  5. Yeah, I'm sure Bonds would be a type A, but the Giants didn't offer arbitration, and thus no compensation is necessary. Those lists come out before the deadline to offer arbitration, IIRC, so they don't reflect whether compensation will actually be required.
  6. would russell branyan become a vegetarian? Branyan doesn't eat meat, he eats hanging curves.
  7. I'm a man because I have chest hair, which my grandfather told me comes from eating vegetables and other things I didn't want to eat as a kid.
  8. The team exists in 2008 to win games, even if it means dumping off surplus starting pitching for not-so-great of a return. That reminds me of an econ professor I once had who would proclaim "sunk costs don't count" about 8 times per lecture.
  9. Yes you need to replace the lost protein, that is easy to do tofu is a much better means of getting protein. It's not vegetarian, but more people need to be turned on to squid. That stuff has tons of protein, and if you're into animals that aren't gruesome to kill and butcher (plus they aren't as "smart" as some animals many object to killing), it's the way to go. I just had some squid jerky as a snack earlier tonight.
  10. or is he Russell, himself, talking in the 3rd person? Branyan has advanced beyond referring to himself verbally. When he refers to himself, he simply flexes. People get the point.
  11. Kinda reminds me of the fat vegan girl my friend knew. She'd go out to bars and suck down a ton of beer and then stop at Jack in the Box for jumbo curly fries afterward.
  12. I get chicken, add in a pinch of crushed garlic and a little Sriracha. If I have tofu and cabbage on hand, I dump a little of each in there.
  13. Lately, I've been rocking out to some serious Dio and a whole lot of Kiss and Motley Crue. Who hasn't gone through a 70's/80's hard rock and hair metal phase?
  14. I don't think it's "black listing" at all. It's the same reason nobody wants to date someone they know to have VD. The person wasn't collectively blacklisted, you just don't want the VD that'd come with dating them.
  15. Gack. Puke. Wretch. Bye Bye BFN. I'll be back when adult conversations start up again. Let us know when you're ready to engage in them.
  16. There's only one thing to do: bring back the sunglasses avatar. Done. Took me awhile since I had to recover from all those push ups.
  17. I'm not even sure what to type now. Think I'm gonna do a bunch of push ups.
  18. Al, I don't think it's the breeders who create this problem, it's irresponsible people who don't get their dogs fixed. Human society dogs often don't come from breeders - many are mutts from parents that should have been fixed or purebreds raised by owners who didn't take adequate care of them. Of course, there are also plenty of sad stories of people who couldn't care for the animal and ethically gave them up.
  19. Bombing toilet harbor.
  20. They're not guilty pleasures to me, but the artists I like but others often label as cheesy are Phil Collins, Hall & Oates, and Styx.
  21. It's very situational, as has been mentioned. If you have a burner of a runner on base and a crap hitter up to bat with great hitters behind him, it looks much better than having a decent hitter lay down a bunt to move Estrada over. Plus it depends on how many runs you need. If it's tied in the bottom of the ninth, it's a better move than when you're down by a run in the 7th, because you know you only need a single run.
  22. People here hate Nickelback because it is the cool thing to do and it seems impressive to hate a popular band. I will be a rebel and state that I like Nickelback. I think it's more likely that people hate things more when they can't escape exposure to them. There are bands worse than Nickelback, but they're probably performing in some bar in a suburb of Tulsa right now, so they don't bug me nearly as much. Most of my favorite albums went gold or platinum, so it's not like I hate everything that's popular, it's just than when I dislike something that's popular I dislike it way more because I'm constantly exposed to it.
  23. I miss County for the beer mug and on the most beautiful of summer days. Aside from that, give me Miller Park.
  24. Yeah, it's awesome when you're going to a strange place and you can see right where the nearest parking lot is and know what the layout actually looks like.
