  1. Wayne Franklin and "El Duquecito" can round out the rotation unless bumped out by Ben Hendrickson. Hernan Iribarren needs to be on that team, if only as the utility IF.
  2. She basically needs to sue the guy and make him pay it off or it won't go away. I co-signed on a loan for my ex-wife, the entire thing was assigned to her by the judge in our divorce, and after she defaulted I still had to pay off the loan before I could buy a house. She repaid me nearly half of the money, but now has not made a payment in over a year. To get the money at this point, I need to take her to court, where she'll be found in contempt for failing to pay the amount stipulated in our divorce settlement, and may have her wages garnished until I'm repaid.
  3. You suck quite a bit of value out of Lucroy if you move him from behind the plate. He'd need to have the potential to be a plus defender at another difficult position to make it worthwhile. If his OPS falls down into the .750 range, he's no longer a very hot commodity unless he can play catcher. Sure, if he can OPS .850-.900, and you have any concerns about durability if he remains a C, move him. I just don't think he continues to be as awesome at the plate as he started out this season.
  4. I drilled a hole in my hand with a 1/4" bit while bracing a piece of wood on a bench I restored. The board fell while I was drilling and I reflexively jerked my hand up to stop it. Blood gushed everywhere, but I have a $1,000 ER deductible, so I applied pressure and then a generous amount of super glue. A month later, it's just a big pink spot on my palm.
  5. I caulk everything tight and then spray Ortho Home Defense around any opening to/from the outside (even the caulked ones). I then lay a 3' barrier of Sevin granules around the foundation of my house. I have close to zero bugs in my house. As an added bonus, I have a colony of House Geckos living in my garage and around my house, so they help with the bugs as well, and they aren't bothered by common pesticides.
  6. Ryan Braun was created in a lab by combining two parts Russell Branyan and one part Jesus. Given that Braun seems to be proud of his Jewish heritage, we know he doesn't have that much Branyan. If he did, there would no longer be an Iran.
  7. what do we call the platoon? Using 8% of your roster to create 1 crappy player. It's like having 1 Ford Escort with a blown engine and buying another one with a blown transmission for parts so that you can create a working Ford Escort. Makes you envious of Kia Rio owners.
  8. I think the best you can say about Loretta is that if he's legitimately your 8th-best option (i.e., behind every non-catcher), you have a very solid lineup.
  9. I don't get to see many games since I live out of state but when I do get to see them it seems like Aoki continually has good/long at bats. Mlb.tv. Do it. I agree with others on Aoki's defense. Dude is definitely our weakest CF. He should probably be in LF, but that ain't happening in this lineup.
  10. I can't watch Brooks Conrad anymore. Yes, it's a small sample, but even on an offense that frequently sucks, his bewilderment at the plate stands out.
  11. While you can't get too upset about signing a former major league pitcher to a minor league deal, I'm about as excited about this as if they'd signed Rick Helling. The chance that he can be any more useful to the Brewers than a 27 year-old failed prospect plucked from indy ball is very remote.
  12. A) Brewers hit a homer. B) Brewers' next hitter got drilled. C) Mets' pitcher was ejected. Sounds like you already won and the Mets got what they deserved. Quit while you're ahead.
  13. Hamilton's a risk for the guys with deep pockets to take, not for a team that would be destroyed by paying 25% of its payroll to hobble around on crutches.
  14. It hurts me inside when I have the same reaction to Rickie coming to the plate as Izturis right now. He looks like Cory Hart in a slump- crappy control of his swing and just flailing at pitches hoping that magic will happen. I don't think it's a swing/mechanics problem as much as he looks like any hitter does when they're being fooled.
  15. I can't believe it's gotten so bad that sides are being chosen for either Yuni or Izturis. It's as if baseball fate is controlled by a bully who's holding us down on the ground and telling us we either have to eat a cat turd or a chihuahua turd. We're trying to convince ourselves that one or the other wouldn't be so bad before we take a bite.
  16. because for the last 5 years or so I've been able to throw pain free for the first time since little league I still can't, and I gave up baseball in early high school and hardly pitched. I tried to whip every throw in the spring without building up proper strength. I'm sure boxing also ruined some body parts, but now my shoulder clicks when I throw.
  17. As important as Robinson was, I'd personally be happier without the "42" and if it were as much about the Negro Leagues and de-segregation as a whole as it is about Robinson. The guys in line before and after Robinson are important as well.
  18. Holy crap, it got Stanley Spadowski! Edit: it failed on Emory Leeson from Crazy People (another movie I watched a billion times in my childhood).
  19. I don't think losing Greinke necessarily means we resign Marcum or pick-up Wolf's option. If he's healthy and any good this year, I don't see them declining Wolf's option unless they just plain run out of money due to large extensions for other players. He'll essentially cost $8.5MM for one year - which is pretty decent for a 200IP/sub 4.00 ERA pitcher. If one of Greinke or Marcum are gone, which seems very likely, I think you've gotta pick up Wolf's option to maintain a competent rotation while they wait for the next in line behind Peralta.
  20. Do you healthy eaters have any website recommendations for recipes? Read up on square foot gardening. You can grow a really nice herb garden for super cheap - way less than buying herbs at the market. When you have good herbs, you can cook much healthier foods. I use Thai basil in pretty much everything I cook, which allows me to avoid less healthy flavorings.
  21. I replaced all 4 window regulators in my car, and it's not that hard. If you can find someone who knows anything about cars, they can do it in an hour. I've ordered my from am-autoparts.com, and paid like $60 each.
  22. So what exactly made him think he was owed a September call-up? He had posted a .797 OPS in AA. At age 20, that makes you a promising young player, not someone who's being screwed if they're kept in the minors.
  23. My guess: stupid kids and their satanic rock and roll music.
  24. Corey Hart's was 5th in the league in sac flies in 2008 and had more RBI's in his age-24 season than Stan Musial. So, Hall of Fame?
