  1. REALLY? That's NEVER been the issue? They had ONE full season playoff appearance in their franchise history until Attanasio and then... they went "all in" and had two where hey made the big move and didn't win. But... that's cute. Making the playoffs has "never been the issue." C'mon...
  2. Doing nothing at this point would be perfectly fine with me and close enough to going all in just by bringing Woodruff back and then having a full season of Mis, Henderson, Gasser, another year of Chourio. Woodruff hopefully for a full year. This is as good as it's going to be. We're not going to add another big name. It's these trade rumors about Megill or Peralta that are insane to me. You've got a farm system I've seen as high as #1 and doesn't get below #5-#7 in most other rankings. Well... to be fair, you add an elite hitter. Ideally, you move him to 2B, Turang to SS. That would change the lineup a whole lot. Not much different than adding Marte. Same career OPS+. It would certainly get you closer to a banner... obviously nobody guarantees you of one, but if you have a team that's close... outside of Kyle Tucker, not sure anyone else on the market does more to put you over the edge. He just... can't play SS. But... we're just not getting one of the top FA's on the market. He's going to get a Yelich like deal(Tucker will get an even dumber deal), and it's just not realistic. Running it back with Woodruff for a whole year and... just hoping you stay healthy and can watch Chourio and some guys take that next step gives you closer and things go your way in the playoffs.
  3. Yeah... Misiorowski, Chourio, those guys... REALLY blew it, didn't they?
  4. And say he doesn't give up the 3ER in 1/3rd of an inning early last year, he has a 1.93 ERA. This is silly to me(the whole idea of trading him). He throws 100, he's got a 2nd plus pitch. He can close games, Uribe throws more innings. He won't be valued as highly as Williams or Hader, but we'll make our bullpen much weaker and we're going to count on Yoho and... just trust someone else becomes dominant as we run it back and try and win a WS? I think this 30-year-old obsession on Brewrefan is over the top. You're not signing him to a long term extension, you're keeping him at ~4.5M to continue to be your closer. You get rid of Megill, you're just going to be looking to trade for BP help come the deadline. We had a very good pen last year and we still tried to make a trade for a high leverage arm. In fact, we do it pretty much every year. Also... people talk about how volatile relievers are. Yeah... sure. Generally now the power arms who throw triple digits. And even if their ERA's may be volatile as a couple of bad outings can skew the overall results, they're still generally pretty reliable. I'm not saying we have to go all in and make AJ Preller type trades and give up a Made type prospect for a closer, but... c'mon! What are we going to get back? I wouldn't take a package like the Yankees gave up unless the controllable position player had better advanced analytics than Durbin(bottom 4-6^% of the league in bat speed, exit velo). I know everyone lives the "bites at the Apple" metaphor, but... maybe heading into the seemingly inevitable 2027 strike, we could take a bigger bite at this Apple?
  5. Yeah, I just had 3 friends who wanted to buy 120 acres and a really nice Cabin there. It was nice, clean, well maintained. They asked if I wanted to go in and I just couldn't' justify it. I don't hunt. I like having people up for hunting season, but I don't actually like hunting. If I was moving there... going to live there, It'd definitely be near Lacrosse or Buffalo County.
  6. Yeah, I'm not disputing any of that. I'm just saying there have been so many bounties investigated(including the Packers)... a lifetime ban would have been pretty punitive. 1 year, 6M, the staff(a good chunk), Williams indefinite, GM and the team losing picks was all pretty sufficient.
  7. Foundation on Apple TV is pretty original. It's also kinda lost me... but original. There's actually a lot of different, unique shows, but they don't seem to get as long of a rope as they should(IMO). New Amsterdam I think was the name of one(not the Doctor show, the immortal medical examiner). THAT was a cool show. Might not have been called New Amsterdam, but something like that. Gemini would be able to answer that quickly enough.
  8. Yeah... it's a show I throw on before bed. I've got bad sleeping habits. I sleep with the TV on. It's alright.
  9. Yeah... not my idea, but for some reason my Uncle went from Chicago to a place that didn't have a neighbor(or even a town) within 15 miles and then my Grandparents bought the place next to them and then my Dad bought land. Then when my Grandparents died, nobody really wanted to sell it out of my Uncles, so... they just let me buy it for... 30 cents on the dollar. Nobody wanted the hassle. The trip sucks though. Especially if it's a 3 day thing, but it's like a different world up there. There's an old joke about how you can travel 20 years into the past. Just visit Kentucky? Well... this is a lot like that. I'd have picked... Buffalo County or somewhere near Lacrosse.
  10. Are we talking about bounty gate? Because... that seemed more like brainchild of Gregg Williams. I also don't think it was particularly rare. If we're talking about because he was part of a movie in which Kevin James plays him and he signed off on that, then... yeah, that's cause. Not sure why we're favored, doesn't make sense to me. Makes sense to others. A pick 'em would be one thing, but... that's a good team with an elite front 7. That said, I seem to be in the minority of that opinion, so hopefully we can take care of their speed rushers(help with Walker) and the IOL holds up.
  11. He was working his way back from the same surgery Woodruff was coming off and was throwing with about 10 less MPH velo when he first came back in 2024. And a lot of those games he was a "starter" he was more like an opener because he was rehabbing. He's healthy now and a 4 pitch pitcher. That tells me nothing about his ability to start. The only reason he wouldn't start would be depth. The Brewers and Murphy have both talked about him starting and I still think there's a lot to figure out. He was a 2nd year pitcher when he was used as a swing man in 2022. That's one partial season of starting.
  12. I mean... it was both, but Clay jumped inside and just wrecked Mendenhall. Also... we obviously didn't pick up Pickett off waivers, he was one of the few big FA signings by Thompson. Howard Green was picked up off waivers(and he clearly did cause that pick).
  13. Oh... I never thought Hurts was as talented as Love. I just thought he was NOT going to screw it up for that team. The Eagles are kinda the epitome of "just don't screw it up" by the QB. Elite OL, Barkley(who is banged up, but still solid) and Green, Smith, good TE. But Love vs Hurts? People just go by SB wins WAY too often. Top be fair though, Hurt wasn't really screwing it up this year. He went into last nights game with 19 TDs and 2 INTs. He came out with 19TDs, 6 INTs and FUMBLE on the same play as one of the picks IN scoring position! God that was annoying! I definitely agree Hurts is not as good of a QB as Love. I also don't think the Eagles have a very good OC. I know we constantly want MLF fired(for who... I don't know)... but I'll take MLF over whoever is running the Eagles this year.
  14. The only thing I'd disagree with is I'd like to see him start. His stuff is too good, he's got 4 pitches. Hall can pitch vs lefties or in a multi-inning role(albeit not as good, but... I'd give Ashby a shot) and they have other arms they can throw out there.
  15. Well...yeah, it was kind of a rhetorical question, but... not, I still don't pick against teams like The Browns. Any team with a great front can beat anyone. That's not nonsense, that's... just Football. The 49ers played them the week before and had drives of 16, 32 and 18 yards.
  16. Yeah, I don't know how we lost to this team. Hurts is SO bad. Only player in NFL history to throw a pick AND fumble... on the same play. And I have the Eagles as my survivor pick tonight. It was them, the Browns or the Buccs... so it'd be nice if the Eagles D found SOME way to salvage this game... Jordan Davis is an absolute stud though.
  17. We used to go up North and find a tree and cut it down every year. That's when my Grandparents... Uncle and Dad owned land. I've since bought it and there are trees all over and that used to be fun. And it was fun for a few years for my own Christmas. And then it was just... 6 hours driving up there. It's like a high of 9 degrees up there, it'll be up to 18 during the week. I could just buy one but I just put up a fake one now. It looks REALLY good and it comes with lights, no fire hazard and it just comes part and goes in a box. Nobody seems to miss the good old days as long as there's still fun stuff under the tree.
  18. I think people are going off the perception Ashby has worse control(especially if we're talking about Uribe). BB per 9 Megill 3.3 Uribe 3.2 Ashby 3.2 I don't think they should make him a closer(I don't think they should make Uribe a closer next year as we should just leave Megill right there). Ashby is... just fine though.
  19. I'm not arguing with you... I'm just saying, I don't think they're going to call it every time. Gary has been called plenty.
  20. Ok... but the Bears really AREN'T fraudulent! We survived a blown assignment on the last play of the game by Evan Williams to escape with a one score win! But I'm curious... on pace to beat the '85 Bears record for most sacks, the best OG in the game(maybe, up there with Nelson) and good OTs, OL as a whole. Why are they fraudulent? Bo Nix?
  21. If Ashby did this, they'd... likely trade him as he'd be up there with the best pitchers in the game and the return would be massive. I would think you'd be hoping Ashby could post an ERA of ~3-3.30 and give you 120 IP. You'll likely have numerous guys who will need to have their innings managed. He'd be one, Mis, Woodruff, Logan Henderson. Ok... but you'd still have the 2027 season to make that decision... and it's PRETTY big leap to assume that he'd somehow end up in the same situation as the guy who was the reliever of the year and the most valuable non-starting pitcher in Baseball in Hader when he went to arbitration. He'd also be coming off a 7.7M salary so... the lowest you could offer him would be ~6.2M as you can only offer a 20% decrease. Injuries are part of pitching, but he's right about average as far as walks go. 3.2 BB per 9 is... pretty much average for a reliever(maybe a bit better than average). Add in over 10K per 9IP and a 60% GB rate... yeah, it be nice if he was even better, but it's pretty good. Coming back from Shoulder surgery to throw 97-100 is... pretty rare. If he COULD do what he did last year over 150 innings or so... that'd be incredibly valuable. But it's pretty unlikely.
  22. On another note... loving the good feelings, but... the Packers have one helluva tough schedule the next 3 weeks. The Denver Broncos... the team last year that looked TERRIBLE to start the year and looked like they had a coach who was washed, a 1st Rd pick who was a huge reach(and the 6th QB picked IIRC) but a good defense... they come in with maybe the worst matchup for the Packers. Excellent edge rushers, on pace to set an NFL RECORD in sacks, they're one of the best teams vs the run. They have the best CB in the league(at least among those playing right now) in Surtain. They're also somehow favored in this game IN Denver. I would think they'd be 3 point dogs, but opening line, Packers -1.5.
  23. It was kidding. I thought it was a knock, if it's not... it doesn't matter, we're both rooting for the same thing. Not trying to stir up something old!
  24. Musgrave(or Jeff Janis as you like to call him😉) it looked like it hit the ground, but I thought it was a case where had it pinned to his body and it just touches the ground while he controls it. If they call that incomplete, I'm fine, but I don't get how it was overturned. Wiliams pick, I haven't seen anything. I just assumed it did. I feel like that was splitting the difference. They called a fumble, Bears recovery(clearly recovery by Packers IF there is one). My Dad called... yelling in my ear, I thought my Mom broke a hip or something, but that's what it was about. "It NEVER touched he ground!" He's older. The Bears series is more personal for him. The majority of my life, they've been... irrelevant. We've only heard about the rivalry, but he lived threough 20 years of it going the other way, so this still gets that 71 year old heart going!
  25. I've heard it on several shows, but it's kinda like the All Pro tax. That's what it feels like. He's too fast and they can't call every time he gets hooked. In fairness, some edge rushers kinda rip through and then hold-on like it's the NBA and they're trying to draw a foul, but... obviously not Micah as he's so fast and relentless and he's never crying for calls. But yeah, I've heard it. Everyone's seen it. Gary has also been held quite a few times and it's not called.
