  1. He's basically been good in two series. It's early, but we also had Vaughn at 1B, Chourio in LF and Yelich at DH. That changes our entire offense. Ok. 18-year-old SS prospects who are raking at AA and the #1 prospect in the Minor Leagues are available far less often. I don't think anyone would come particularly close to beating Made for Pena. You're getting Pena for this year and then MAYBE next year, then a FA. I would imagine the Astros would jump on that trade immediately. Doubt they'd even feel the need to field other offers. I'm kinda surprised you think it'd cost Made-Plus, even if there were a bidding War. He's a ~700 OPS type guy who plays good defense at SS. Players like that... they aren't that rare. Lets go back a couple years and think about Adames. The Os offer Gunnar Henderson or the D-backs Corbin Carroll. We're not shopping that deal, we're jumping on it.
  2. I don't know... have we seen THIS from them? A rotation with Skenes, Chandler, Jared Jones coming back, Keller, Ashcraft, and then Mlodzinski? That's a really talented rotation with 6 quality arms. Cruz is a guy we've talked about trading for on here because... I think most suspected a monster season was bound to happen with his bat speed, exit velo and just underlying offensive metrics. I would expect Konnor Griffin to get better as the year goes, Bryan Reynolds was a good hitter the 2nd half of last year. O'Hearns is a really solid 1B. They have some power arms in relief. Wouldn't be THAT shocked if they were competitive and brought up Seth Hernandez... but everything would have to go right for them. I could pretty easily see them winning 90 games. As far as being "worried" about them? If the Brewers can get going, mostly get healthy and Yelly can get back and be an 800 OPS guy, Chourio I think was due for a big breakout and then Vaughn... I think he's legit, that's a really good 1-5 in a lineup(Contreras+Turang) and I think Frelick will come around, Mitchell... has been pretty good. Rengifo I believe he'll hit. Just good ABs and some tough luck hard hit balls, but if those things happen, plus Priester, I think the Brewers are good enough and deep enough to win... but the Pirates are a scary team.
  3. Misiorowski is just going up and up in value... and I would guess we've already approached Made and were too far apart(as it sounds like we were with Mis). There's a lot of "call Made up now" momentum on X or other places... and I'd actually be alright with it... IF we had a 10 year 120M extension in place. The kid would become a FA at 29 and get paid now. If it takes 140M, I'm fine with that also. Get him time at 3B also. But no shot would I call him up now just so the Brewers can watch him get the first Billion dollar TV deal when he's a 25-year-old FA SS.
  4. It's really not a stretch. The Eagles OL is a LOT better than what the Packers had out there last year. They have an elite RB who forces teams to play with another man in the box quite a bit. They(Philly) struggled vs press man and Wicks was very good there. With Waddle, AJ Brown, Hollywood Brown plus a pretty solid TE in Goedert... at the very least, comparing last years offense to what the Eagles offense looks like, it should help him. He was also the 2nd highest graded WR we had last year. The whole hierarchy or being able to pass them is reliant on the chances you get. He didn't get enough last year. If he plays like he did his rookie year or last year, I think 65 catches 800 yards as a 3rd down threat is easily attainable. The Packers had to create more snaps for Golden and room to be able to draft a rookie WR. Getting a early 5th rd pick(the Falcons 5th) and a 6th rd pick is just really good value for us.... but I think Wicks will be well worth the 12.5 for Philly. Yeah, he was awful his 2nd year with drops. But he was elite at creating separation. He was very good again last year in his limited opportunities.
  5. I'd want Pena in CF. Pena has 70 speed, a good arm...seems a waste in LF. Plus, Chourio, Frelick, Lara... we kinda have our OFers set. Jett, maybe Fischer or Adams could factor in, Black, but... at least have him splits reps in CF with Payne to start... IMO.
  6. We just made a trade using our starting pitching depth when we trade Peralta and then added Meyers. I really don't like giving up Myers... but seeing Sproat, even with his warts thus far, I'm more encouraged. But I wouldn't be looking to trade away more. Unless you're concerned Logan Henderson can't hold up... or you could get a real impact arm. Grant Taylor was the guy I was really interested in. Not sure why the CHW would trade him unless... they don't think he can start(and I believe he's only throwing out of the pen right now) and you're looking for more "value." I'd do Henderson and Drohan for him. I may be underestimating Henderson though. He feels like a guy who won't hold up and I don't really have a good reason for saying that. He's not much different from Peralta's profile. He's just not a 6'3+ 220LB+ pitcher. I think he would be best served in a role similar to Hall or Ashby... but vs RHPer. Not sure he'll ever give you 170IP(feels like 200IP ~20 years ago). Outside of a... legit RHed bat, a... Braun type, adding a HL reliever would be my biggest priority. Someone with team control. But that's a priority beceause we have depth elsewhere.
  7. Lara's start has been really exciting. I think his floor is a Blake Perkins replacement... but his ceiling could REALLY round out the Brewers lineup... the OF. I think he'll end up being our starting CFer. Feels like a pretty disappointing start to the season for this minor league system, but we're... not 10 games in yet. Where are we expecting Williams to play if he's going to be up by the ASG? Utility? Move around between SS, 3B and CF? I don't even know if he's playing any 3B, but I'd like to see him there as an option.
  8. LOL... literally earlier this week someone pointed out how it's been a good start for Harrison and Hamilton while couching as being WAY too early to make any declarations and... even then you told them to slow down! Can't win!
  9. The visits tend to inform who they will value in the late rounds or as UDFAs as much as anything. I think they'd be stupid to pass on a good, athletic DT or NT. Problem is you generally have to wait for them to develop. But, that's why you sign stopgaps like Hargroves, maybe we'll pick up another guy like Jordan or Campbell.
  10. If you get a whole, healthy AND productive year out of him... great. Enjoy it, trade him... and move on. One year... I'll be thrilled. I can't say I'm overflowing with confidence when he comes up. I think I'll have to see him put the ball in contact more regularly(play 140 games). And if he does that... immediately trade him.
  11. I'd be more inclined to agree if we were talking about our high leverage depth. Koenig was struggling, Megill I think is alright, but he had that elbow issue last year. But just overall depth? I think we're pretty damn deep. We're also only a week into the season and have a LOT of time for guys to earn a call up.
  12. Oh wow. That was... way more emotional that I thought(though the "la di dah does throw me as it infers a man skipping around with no problems... but I was able to see though that!) A few problems though; 1-Hiura- I was a big fan. He was not a good hitter. I wanted him to be. I liked him. He wasn't. Came up, had a REALLY good half in 2019. That's it. Played every game but one the next year for the Brewers. Stuck around in '21 and was just unplayable. '22(when he again, not good, 111Ks in 266 PAs) he got some PAs but he was bad. In all, from the terrible defender Keston Hiura, the guy who couldn't play a position on the field, he hit; .203/.289/.381 and a .670 OPS. But hey, at least he put the ball in play and made things happen, right! I mean, other than that strike out rate of nearly 40%... It's SO much more reasonable now to be upset about Made! How is he supposed to play Baseball knowing that Cooper Pratt got paid at SS and Keston Hiura who... apparently in this scenario he thinks is a good hitter(which is the most troubling thing I've heard yet). But no, I guess you're right. That's it. The future of the Brewers is written, Made isn't in it and really, why should he even try? What IS he supposed to think? He could be Aaron Judge with Ozzie Smith's defense and the Brewers won't play him at Shortstop! They gave another player 50M over 8 years! It's over, out of his control! His future as a player is... well, I see NO other path he can take than Hiura's, who definitely didn't get a chance! Also... something is going on around MLB as he's been cut or released by the Angels, Rockies, Tigers, Dodgers AAA team the last few years. I'm just curious though, does Brice Turang have any value? Manny Machado? Did Mookie Betts have any value before 2023? Man, I could go on with this list for a LOOONG time, but the clue was... they were players who played positions that were not shortstop. Fernando Tatis? Pretty sure Molitor came up as a SS! What was even the point there! My god dude, there's 1 Shortstop and... Made can still win the job. Or he can be our 3B of the future. Not sure if this is well known, but that's pretty important too! 2B... pretty important. But no, you're right. He's not supposed to go back and play SS. He should probably learn a vocation. I'm hearing electricians are going to be REALLY important in the future with all these AI Data Centers! We should... probably just leave the 6 hole empty at all minor league levels because Cooper Pratt signed a contract! Oh, and by the way, I REALLY hope Made thinks "La di dah, La Di dah," when THINKING about going and playing defense... that'd just be swell! I won't be able to watch him play without thinking "I wonder if he's saying "la di dah," in his head right now! There is just one thing that I'm genuinely confused about. Do you care to explain how Joey Ortiz and his 2025 struggled portend anything in any way for Made? Of all the emotionally drive and bizarre takes here, that is... definitely the most confusing! Oh well, "la did dah," nothing Made can do because of the precedent of Hiura V Brewers, a case in which an INCREDIBLE and versatile defender just couldn't catch a break(with literally anyone in MLB)... despite being a great hitter. (I wonder what would happen if the Brewers sign Made to a 10 year 120M extension with a couple option years next year... I think it'd create max confusion and you'd just have every Brewers SS, even Pratt walking around saying things like "la di dah," and not even attempting to play SS!... man, we better not sign Made! We'd just have a fielding line at 3B after Murph puts out the lineup and everyone would go to 3rd because that's... apparently the only position you can play!)
  13. Yeah, he can ramp it up out of the pen. I also just did a... very little surface level look into Grant Taylor and... he ain't getting traded. I was ignorant about his pedigree. I thought he was just a live and unrefined arm, but he's a young guy who may still start for them. But Patrick, I'm still looking into Jordan Hicks if we could get him without giving up a ton. Just watching his pitches out of the zone, it reminds me of Megill or even Harrison where they simply had him move on the rubber so the movement kept the ball in the zone. I'm sure they'll make a trade for a reliever. I'm sure it won't be anyone I think of. I'm also... guessing they won't have a huge impact, but they will be an insurance policy. But I'd sure love another high end arm. Maybe Hardin or someone can play up in short stints(like Patrick). No clue what this staff will look like end of the year.
  14. There was nothing "random" about them, I was making apples to apples comparisons, not comparing highly paid veteran players. They were actual trades that took place. What was "random" was the veteran list of WRs you threw out there. And I put a question mark next to Watson because... the Packers aren't even considering trading him, he's not been mentioned once in anything beyond an extension. The idea he has little trade value with his contract is... ridiculous to me. He'll almost certainly be extended this year, not traded. You mean like THESE "random" facts? You came and pointing out that Adams was traded for a 3rd... AGAIN on a bad team immediately after requesting a trade and with a large contract. I wasn't comparing him or anyone to Watson as he's not even on the table, I was comparing HIM to... him. His trade value as an expensive 31-year-old who saved the Jets money(and they still get a 2nd rd pick for him if he met the conditions of the trade). If you're getting a 1st+ for Hollywood Brown, the 5'9 WR or a 2nd for Chase Claypool, a 2nd and a 6th for Sammy Watkins, a 1st, 3rd AND a 7th for Percy Harvin, I think you're getting a 2nd for Christian Watson from 20 teams in the league(there, NOW I'm "comping" players to Watson's trade value unlike Adams). Hell, Kadarius Toney went for a 3rd and a 6th when they couldn't get the guy to show up for practice in New York...all players on rookie deals. To be clear though, you've been arguing that Watson isn't worth a 2nd in this thread then, not Reed? That's kinda shocking to me. Either way, I NEVER "comped Adams to Watson." It just didn't happen. Not them as players, not their trade value... nothing in any way. The Packers also went out of their way when extending him last year to circumvent the mandatory 12 month wait to give him another extension by putting dummy years into his contract, the void years with inflated salaries so they could extend him prior to 12 months and to a big deal(that was a deliberate move)... and have just come right out and said it(As well as numerous reports). https://packerswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2026/04/01/packers-gm-on-christian-watson-extension-that-would-be-good-for-both-of-us/89420715007/?link_source=ta_first_comment&taid=69ce84889aa76a0001b16b84&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwY2xjawRCja9leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFLRjJERHBrREhSR3Jmb0ppc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHiRX-WKfC4mM6WmSiNQg5FxjWk1IjPV6A5ajOEO4HJ8Q5HAx4PR0mVsdVzr7_aem_FeO2j3I7hAPn_jCHRorngA
  15. Nope. But I do kinda like the signing. I just hoped we wouldn't need him the first week of the year.
  16. I wouldn't have. He doesn't look bad or hurt, but he doesn't look particularly sharp to me. It's only 3.2 IP this year, but game 11 vs Boston in the 6th? He's ramped up earlier with the WBC and he was throwing his FB at 95 in his last appearance(he got back to 98, but still). Another Right Handed Power arm would be the one thing I'd like to see them be a little aggressive in targeting right now. Megill had the elbow last year. We had 19 lefties in the pen. The White Sox had a few guys I'd love to see in Milwaukee. That Taylor who threw for them was overpowering, but he went to his off-speed when he was throwing 102 up in the zone past us. Hicks is another guy if they kicked in some money. I'm also less bothered as I didn't expect this lineup to really do anything today.
  17. Seems rather obvious they don't believe that. I don't think there's much illusion about Pena being a SS at this point and he hasn't even thrived at HiA. Which isn't a knock it's just we're talking about very young players. As for Pratt not "proven he can hit AA pitching," he was above league average as a 20 year old GG Shortstop. I've never been one of the best in the world at anything, but... if I were, I'd probably not worry about who is ahead of me. If I was an athlete the caliber of Made, I'd think... I'll force my way in. Or maybe like Manny Machado and Jackson Holliday and countless others, they can think, 'I'll become a GG caliber player at 3B.' I don't know how you can pull the rug out on a 18 or 19-year-old... when there's no rug beneath them. We have high hopes for them, but they haven't proven anything yet. I am fairly confident if Jesus Made is an elite defensive SS(which is in question) and he can hit like we hope he can, we'll find a spot for him. I don't think that'll be a problem.
  18. Not yet, but they've certainly made an effort to correct that. You still have guys like Lara who will be like that, but the whole next wave of talent is largely comprised of guys who hit for power... at least relative to their position. Pratt as a SS... I think he's going to hit for some power. It's hard for me to imagine a guy with his frame and swing won't be able to develop some, but... we'll see. Front office has been incredible.
  19. Ahh... I thought he was first hit in STing and they cleared him, then the WBC. I guess it being vs the Nationals... muddied it a bit, but doesn't make much of a difference. As for risk, I would think the risk would be with pitchers. In the WBC, you're facing pitchers who probably have better control and would be less likely to hit you. A year or two ago, having Mis throwing in STing would have bee terrifying. It sucks, but I'm not upset with the WBC. I thought this one was exciting and was great for Baseball. I hope we don't have pitchers in it next time around(selfishly), but I wouldn't be mad about having 4-5 players from Chourio, Made, Fischer, Pena, Quero... hopefully more who are worthy. Tyler Black perhaps? Still clinging to some hope he develops as a LHed 1B/OF.
  20. Of course they're not starting Patrick on 3 days rest, right? The... what, 11th game of the year? Why would you consider risking it. Gasser should get the start and... Crow is on the roster(40 man) also, so if you could make two moves, that may be a good idea. It's a long year, we're doing alright without Chourio(who I thought was on the verge of a breakout year), Vaughn, Priester, Henderson limited. There's just no reason to push it with any of our young arms. This was pretty much the ideal place for Tobias Meyers... but despite the results, watching Sproat, the risk-reward on that trade looks like it could be a huge win for us.
  21. I... literally JUST addressed this exact question(Also, I referenced ONE players contract, Romeo Doubs). LOL... ok, and? Where did I compare it? Are you actually reading what I'm saying? I made the point that cherry picking trades is meaningly and very clearly said... I never cited Watson. So where did I "compared Adams' first trade" with anything Watson? The POINT was a player who is on a bad team and requesting a trade AND expensive has less value. I'd would have said bringing up Mike Williams last year for a 5th rd trade as an example of why Herman is so far off on the prospective trade values of the two players I mentioned is "laughable." But I just stated the facts. He was on the 2-8 Jets and he had 12 catches in 10 games and he still went for a 5th rd pick... so... you're reading things that aren't there. The Raiders saved 80M+ in future salary with Adams, 12M immediately and... he posted "free me," and he was 32 years old. So not Point-If a player demands/requests a trade+expensive+bad team=less trade value. Every player you cited fit at least two of those and most fit all 3. The Packers players don't fit any of those criteria.
  22. Yeah... but you just made it that much more expensive to cut him next year. His dead cap next year would have been 13. Now it's 26. So... you just got done signing him to this contract to begin with coming off a roughly average career with the 49ers(using PFF metrics, I didn't watch him enough in SF to know what he looked like). You choose to keep him after he was injured and bad and you are paying him another 29M for this next year in new cash. None of it makes sense, but it'll make less sense to me if he plays better next year and then they still cut him despite not saving salary cap space.
  23. I think they'll do something else in Free Agency... and I still won't understand why they did ANYTHING to that contract. You're already paying him 20M for next year(new money)... and now it's 26M cap hit to get out next year. I thought they should have cut him... though I didn't think they would. Restructuring was the worst case IMO. Yeah, but they could have done several other moves and still not done anything with Banks. He was both bad AND hurt last year. He was the last guy I wanted to see restructured and I'd have been more than fine moving off him, going and getting one of the 4-5 quality veteran OGs on the market and been free of his cap hit next year. Hope I'm wrong on him and hope @JosephCis also wrong... I don't see any sign he's been worth 26M last year.
  24. I'm not "confusing" anything. They both speak to value and I told you where who I was citing. You're picking players who were traded because they demanded a trade on bad teams or had character concerns, large contracts. Chase Claypool was traded for a 2nd. Davante Adams was traded for a 1st. George Pickens is not the closest to Watson... Pickens was a nightmare in lock room for the Steelers. I don't recall Watson posting "free me" two years before a hypothetical trade(I also didn't cite Watson). You're conflating players with a WHOLE lot of other issues. The Raiders were terrible and Adams was expensive. Mike Williams? He was on a 2-7 Jets team that was trading everyone, Williams in 9 games that year had 12 receptions... and they got a 5th for him. I don't think those examples show anything.
