  1. 103 wins, #1 record in the game, up 2-0, now 2-1 vs the hottest team in the league offensively(coming in) and then just a COUPLE plays. Boegarts makes a diving stop keeping the ball in the IF; 1 run. 107+ up the middle vs Yelich with=at least 1 run. Merrill diving catch on Chourio bullet to left. Conversely-Pratt spiking one, +1 run for the Padres Passed ball by... Hall. That was the margin. It was a game won or loss on the margins. But I'd say it's gotten us pretty damn far this year.
  2. They kept saying he was "down" today... which makes ABSOLUTELY zero sense when you look at how often he threw multiple innings and threw ~30 pitches this year. He did it like 5 times the first week of the season and pitch in like 2, 2, 3, 4, 2 days later. I wonder if it was a decoy to impact who hits for us.
  3. It's literally... just trust your talent. This isn't Caleb Durbin. He's got exceptional bat speed. But he's... not swinging freely. It's tight and ugly and... the pitch selection is not good. I'd be happy with Lara in CF, Frelick in RF tomorrow... and if Mitchell is back in there, I would hope he'd figure it out and be aggressive IN the zone. He's looking for Walks... can't count on that.
  4. I think I agree all the way around. I'd add Contreras has been great. Frelick has had really good ABs... his last one with men on 1st and 2nd was not great, reaching out at a pitch well off the plate, but in general. They have the books on Chourio... make him chase. He has to adjust now. Pratt has been impressive... that throw notwithstanding. That cost us a run. Boegarts saved them at least two. Merrill saved them a couple(Chourio and Frelick). ***I absolutely agree with Hamilton, but Chourio didn't take a pitch, so even the hypothetical didn't matter, but you have to try and get Lara in scoring position there. We face Buehler tomorrow. We have to be patient. Get back into that pen again. They're already worn down.
  5. It's... yes. That's the argument. We haven't been scoring(nobody in these playoffs have been because... it's the post-season) and we should start Vaughn at 3B. Not MY position, but an argument.
  6. EVERYONE has trouble scoring runs in the playoffs... because teams do things like this, bring their ace back in to get the save. And playing in THREE 1-run games is an argument AGAINST playing a guy with poor defense at 3rd, not for it.
  7. And our offense scores 5 runs if their defense isn't outstanding.
  8. Ok, well, setting aside our personal opinions, I don't think ANY manager is starting Andrew Vaughn at 3B vs a team as good as SD(or really any team) where the defense is the difference. Boagarts gets two diving plays, saves two runs. I mean, you could also look at the fact he hasn't played there is whole career, a poor defensive 1B with 68 innings, almost all coming this year... at 3B seems like a bad idea, but... sure.
  9. So I can re-disagree with it? Why? Pretty much the same thing he did when he hit the ball 105 back up the middle earlier.
  10. He hit a bullet right back up the middle. You run through the WHOLE list of things that went wrong, Yelich swining at the first pitch and hatting a bullet is not the problem.
  11. You are NOT playing Vaughn at 3B in a playoff game. That's like Kotsay in CF. It's for late innings when you're out of choices.
  12. If this was the Dodgers, fine, but vs this type of RHed heavy lineup? I'm not sure.
  13. I'd rather he put a good swing on a Fastball than be down 0-1 there.
  14. I also don't know who else you're throwing out there? Gasser, Drohan? Harrison? BP game? He had good stuff, we didn't make plays, they made great plays.
  15. Yeah... I don't know if that's better or worse. Boegarts really saved the game for them.
  16. He hit the ball ~108 MPH. I don't know what else you can ask for... THAT was a the ball to jump on... just terrible luck.
  17. ****... good swing... just right at 'em. We'll, we get them tomorrow.... and I'm off before the 2nd guessing.
  18. Again, KEEP looking the other way... lets go! He's had good ABs this game! PUT 'EM AWAY HERE!
  19. 2-1... good discipline. Hunt your pitch Turang!
  20. You taking off here? You take the bat out of Yelich's hand potentially.
