  1. LOL... Harold has told me he was in 2023 and again this year enough times, I've got no choice but to believe it's true!
  2. He's a lot better than Haley was though and he's not nearly as much of a problem, so I agree that I don't expect him to have the impact Reggie did, but Mack is the closest comp I can think of when looking at players who actually got traded. Mack made the Bears a contender. They went from 5-11 to 12-54 and Mack was in his prime(though even he was a year older at the time of the trade). I agree, expecting him to be Reggie is a bit much, but this is more like trading for Lawrence Taylor in his prime. Maybe... LT lite? I don't know, this is close to unprecedented. This might be the best defensive player to ever be traded in his prime and he WAS relatively cheap to trade for. And Reggie was 6 years older, but his impact goes so far even just what he did on the field. But Reggie was a 6'5 300LB DE who could play the run and rush the QB and most importantly change the Packers by signing with them. Reggie or any elite edge though, you have to look at the impact it has on the REST of your defense. The MOST doubled player in the NFL. 20% win/loss rate. That blows the Packers best of 12% by Gary out of the water, but he sets up the rest of the defense. And I'll go a step further, I think the talent the Packers have already in place is better than what the Packers defense did in the 90s. That team had two great defenders and then just solid talent around him. Sean Jones was older, their LBers were guys who were pretty limited, they were good at one thing, they did that well, but not elite by any means. Even their CBs, hardly world beaters. But an elite pass rush makes me a LOT less worried about the CB position and excited about the safety position. No matter what you think of the trade. Risky, a good trade a great trade, as big as the Reggie signing, all the talk about there not being a lot of excitement around this team or not being sure where they stand, the front office sure as hell blew that out of the water yesterday.
  3. No. They'd trade for half a year of him because they wouldn't be able to afford to re-sign him. That's closer to how the Brewers have to operate, or WOULD have to operate. Nope. I certainly don't view Chicago offering the SAME package as we did for Mack to be a bad deal because Chicago was a worse team than us and they didn't end up winning with him. What is the worse outcome here? He gets hurt? It doesn't work? Arguably the BEST edge rusher in the NFL just came available and we got him for what is VERY likely 2 late 1sts. And again, this is an EXTENSION. So you've got Parsons for 5 21M for this year and then the 4/188 kicks in. That's where the total GTD money comes from. This dude is a generational talent. The list of players I'd take over Parsons would be... Dexter Lawrence and I guess Myles Garrett if he were 3 years younger and Maxx Crosby MAYBE. If I blows up in their face, it blows up in their face. That can happen with everything. If you want to make the argument it COULD happen, well hell, it COULD happen with Love, could have happened with McKinney, COULD happen with literally any player you give big money to. Zach Tom. That could blow up. As a % of the cap, this isn't' a bad deal. Not with the cap rising at the rate it is, nearly 10% per year. Even if you cut that back to 8%... This is the type of trade I think it'd be stupid to not make and without comparing the numbers, if you do a worst case scenario, I don't know that the cap hits and % of cap he's eating up or dead cap that he COULD cost in 3 years when he gets expensive is more than what Ja, Bakh, Gary, Clark, Tom would have been at the same point. He's also about 4 years younger than Garrett. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/72392/micah-parsons
  4. Wrong. Tag Walker, trade him, 2 1sts in return, one from... Seattle and in 2027 they're going to be terrible and we take Jeremiah Smith in the top 5. I think that's a pretty clear option you're overlooking... But I really meant to post this. The Jones are trying SOOO hard to make it sound like Clark is going to make them better overall is kinda funny. "Things are good here....things are good here...I want to be clear on that."
  5. No, I LOVE this trade, but Reggie was... different. I get Parson's gets LT comps and... they're not crazy, but I think Reggie was a better player. He was definitely a better player vs the run(at least as a 43 DE). He also did all the things you said. He changed the way the Packers are viewed and they've been different ever since. There are still risks and there's downside. The Cap is also getting so big that... I don't think the risk that this is going to be a crippling cap hit is THAT big. One question I have. I've seen this repeatedly reported as an extension. If that's the case, it's 5 years ~209.3M. That'd make it better for the Packers. I mean, I'm happy either way, but that'd be a big difference.
  6. Yup, either one could kick inside and you can play Parsons off the ball also. I don't imagine you will do that often, but a 5 man front of even just Parsons, Cooper and Walker at LB? There are so many ways to use a guy who's his size with his speed and athletic ability and plenty of opportunities for even Enagbare and Sorrell yet.
  7. Totally disagree. He'll still probably get close to 50% of the defensive snaps this year. Not just because they'll start off slow with Parsons, but they'll can easily get both on the field together, but aside from that, rotating edge rushers is so important to keep them fresh.
  8. Yeah, sorta.
  9. I'm just kinda... at a loss for words(shocking, I know)... No first sucks. Losing Clark hurts a bit but you win in the NFL by dominating the pass rush. Look at what Tampa did. We may have to sell out a bit more on defense vs the run, but... so be it. I was kinda looking at him as more of a run stopper at this point. He just doesn't quite have that jump anymore. Parsons... may not have ideal size, but man, he is gonna make life easier for everyone else on the DL.
  10. JUST what I was thinking. Wyatt I think is going to have a monster season as well. Gute...getting it done!
  11. I don't think it was Clark being a bad fit, I just think... a player who has started his career like LT vs Clark who is on the tail end and has slowed down, you kinda have to make that deal. Love Kenny, but he wasn't the same player.
  12. Ego... that's it. He had a deal with Parsons or so he said... and that's all. He claims he agreed to a 5 year extension for 40.5M per year. I'm... in awe. Losing Clark hurts but... this is a Reggie type impact addition!
  13. Nothing beyond what they've done. I haven't had as much fun watching this team in a while... the way the Brewers have been playing has been INCREDIBLE. I'm not going to put this all on a couple games in Oct. If YOU do(you as in royal you) that's cool. But... this has been great. The season has been awesome and I can't let myself get SO emotionally invested in a handful of games that I let it ruin the whole year. I also am so excited for the future of this team that... it'll suck if the Brewers lose in the first round(which hopefully ends up being the Divisional Round) but yeah, all year, every game, it's been too much fun.
  14. LOL...I swear, I was going to say, "it took me a second to figure out what Williams you were talking about," as I'd totally blanked on Savion Williams, but then...I honestly didn't think you would think John Williams would make much of an impact! Plus, Savion has been banged up and I thought there was still some question if he'd be available or active for the first chunk of the season. But I overthought it. Still, plenty of players in that group to make your statement about a big mid-season addition true.
  15. I didn't even know about the Cancer, I just know he's old and desperately wants to win. Even before that, he's been pretty against rebuilding, so... I think you're right, he's gotta be even more against it now. Not quite a Mike Ilitch type situation, but close enough. I just wonder... what the hell is the problem? These deals aren't simple, but 25 year old All Pro Edge? If he gets this done last off-season, he can probably get him signed for 32-33 for 4-5 years like Jerry likes to do. But, this is one time I wouldn't be shocked if we were the most aggressive team waiting in case the unlikely happens.
  16. I would guess Welch would be one of the players activated week 1. Big role on special teams, depth at MLB. And just getting Watson back would be a huge addition. I can't cite them, but there were a lot of next gen stats. I think one was we averaged 3.8 more yards with him on the field... but whatever they were, it was just something that very clearly jumped out. He takes a safety with him wherever he goes. Williams and Lloyd both add something to the run game(presumably, we didn't really get to see how they planned on using Williams, but I thought that was the idea, he'd get snaps back there or be used on some jet sweeps).
  17. The Packers did come up just short for Mack back in... 2017, 2018. Whatever year it was. From what I recall, we offered pretty much the same the Bears did, the Charges just took the Bears offer as they thought their picks would be better. There's also the belief that Policy would like to make a splash early on in his tenure(though I'm not sure if that'd be a good thing, I'd prefer our President stay out of that part of the process). Mack had such an impact on the Bears... as a player like that often does. At least 2 1sts and probably a 3rd and maybe a guy like Doubs OR... LVN. And then that contract would be massive. The rumor is 45M a year, though in order for that to happen, the Packers would have to have been granted some permission to talk to him, so that seems like it's probably more from Parsons camp. I'm not sure if that'd be a good move or not. If it happens, I'll definitely get on board with it. We'd have an incredible front 7 in terms of speed and getting after the QB. The trickle down impact on Gary, Wyatt(who I think is going to break out)...Cooper and Walker. And I think they could move Parsons around and play him both at edge and a little bit off ball where he's really good vs the run. But Jerry will likely do what he always does. He'll wait too long and then overpay to keep him as Jones doesn't let stars leave.
  18. Right. I'm not claiming their performances were good. ALL I am saying is you're talking about...219 PA's from Fenelon for example. And I completely agree with your take here. I just don't agree with... effectively saying 'there's still hope in the class despite those guys.'
  19. This is just... WAY too soon to be talking about the disappointment of the top of this class...particularly Fenelon who has a pretty interesting tool set(not that he's alone).
  20. Logan Henderson is at best an average SU man. Me saying it must make it so, right?
  21. Ok...so they have to DFA him again. What you're saying is we HAD to make this trade because we were so short handed that the ONLY thing we could do was give the Padres the pitching depth they needed...while paying for it AND an 18 year old SS prospect that... apparently they were enamored with(not that you said that). How about Jared Oliva? They had to make a roster spot for Lockridge, right? We made room for Berroa. So that's not really a problem... unless we're saying we literally couldn't give Nestor Cortes away while paying his salary for a guy with a good glove and a sub 600 OPS unless we added the guy we gave 1.7M for in the 2024 IFA class. Apparently not so much that I can't say, "I don't like that trade," and then disagree with the logic that Quintana was "immaterial," because we have other Shortstops without a barrage of arguments. There's no argument that we didn't have players in our system who could have filled in. Daz Cameron, Oliva, Avans, Black...AND Berroa who we called up. I also don't see why it'd be a big deal to DFA Cameron either. He's a FA after this year, no? We already DFA'ed him, right? And I'm going to bring this back. THIS was my argument; THIS...this is my argument and my point of contention. Other people said he was a glorified pinch runner and nothing but organizational depth and... no push back. But I've got it not. I LOVE this trade. It was great. It's right up there with trading Mendez for Dunn, trading Reese Olson for Daniel Norris, loved it. Awesome trade. If you have depth at a position, it really doesn't matter what you get back because you have depth, there's NOTHING the Brewers front office can do that I will ever disagree with as I've now learned it's completely an either or thing. You either love every. single. trade. Or... you don't trust them. Hell, I'm pretty sure if they have a bowel movement, there's not even an odor! I've seen the light, been made aware... I've got it now, alright. Let me atone for the sins of my past. I'm going to go and start now.
  22. Anything on what's going on with Luke Adams? Did I miss that?
  23. We're talking about to get by for a short period of time... and you're saying people on HERE were clamoring for an OFer? I don't recall seeing that. I remember 1B/3B, I remember some talking about CJ Abrams. I remember relievers... a 28-year-old OF prospect? I don't recall seeing much of that. And we're now guessing that maybe Perkins MIGHT have known he'd go on Bereavement? The reaches here are... big. Daz Cameron. How about him. Black could also play Corner OF. We're talking about getting by for a couple weeks at most. But you're saying we had to trade for a 28-year-old non prospect who hasn't done anything and paying for Cortes' contract, that wasn't enough? So... you either blindly agree with every move or you don't trust the front office? That's your take here? Yeah, that sounds more like a cult than a fan of a team. The tone, what was unnecessary? I don't find it "necessary" to belabor this point this much but here we are. This post is also particularly obnoxious given I JUST said; This doesn't seem like a particularly complicated concept, but... apparently it is.
  24. By this logic; This logic pretty much justifies any trade.
  25. Yeah, I love Selig. I said as much. I'm still not for changing the name of the stadium, but... it would be nice to honor him. So many fans who are just normal fans. Not going to trash them, but they don't really understand what he did in terms of revenue sharing and the draft, how smaller markets get money, etc... But I don't know if that'd work no matter what. That'd be pretty cool. Just the 'Get up, get out of here...' as the players are rounding the bases.
