Burnes?
-
No. I think my disdain is pretty healthy. Pretty much a Joe Barry defense(though...the assumption is we will NOT play this defense in the regular season).
-
He is not good no matter what string we're playing. OG would be one position I'd like to see a wire claim...if there's one to be had. Or a trade. That'd work.
-
Ok...well, I DON'T want your 1M anyway!
-
It IS the pre-season...the games DON'T count and we're playing with our backups vs the Bronco's starters. LOL...what are we expecting here? BTW, that hit by Hopper? That dude can bring it.
-
That's a great point. That's ALWAYS been a huge focal point for the Packers coaches. If you're going to play RB, you'd better be able to slide over and pick up that free runner. I'd bet Wilson is working harder on that than any other aspect of his game. And I completely agree, he's better as a 3rd down back than as a workhorse(at least as OUR workhorse). "he's basically a super weird 3rd down back." Yeah, that...really does sum up AJ Dillon well! LOL...but also , if you do keep him, just change it up and run more downhill power schemes. Use Sims or Davis as the TE...or Kraft, he's a nice blocker. But just get Dillon North and South.
-
Yes. The natural talent is undeniable. If I were to nitpick...it's the pocket presence. He didn't need to spin out of there. The blocking was fine. Set his feet, shuffle to the left, and you have a good platform to throw off of(which he doesn't need, but helps). That's a lot easier to teach or develop than the ability to make that throw though. I've been pretty sure for about a year now the Bears would...really struggle to screw up the QB position in the Williams draft. I didn't know Daniels would be as good as he is(he's impressive also). But Chicago has a dude with elite physical skills. Should make for one helluva rivalry moving forward. An actual rivalry again. Not like the eras of dominance like...the modern era, the 70s and 80s for the Bears, 60s for GB,...etc...

Yeah, I'd buy a old beat up vehicle if I had to park it on the street still. That's foolish. As for the Hybrid's, I bought a Hybrid because I need a full 350-400 mile range(300, but I'm towing a little). And that's what I use my Truck for the most. If Toyota had an EV Truck and I could charge it in Northern Wisconsin, or if there were places to charge the Rivian, I'd absolutely have one. I bought the Tundra because I fully expect there to be EVs in the next couple of years that have much better batteries and it has good resale. The anecdote about my sisters was more just...the idea that they're so expensive to fix...that car doesn't have one square e foot that hasn't come into contact with concrete, metal or some hard object, but it's still runs really well. I've had to swap and it drives great. 350K on it.

They may not. There is one player I didn't include that I probably should have...Royce Newman. I think he makes it just based on them restructuring his contract. I know...nobody is a fan at this point for good reason, but the depth is so shallow along the IOL. Monk played really physical and showed signs of what he's capable of, but he's...just not acclimated to the offense well enough yet. Wilson, you're probably right. That's just what I'd do. But just watch Heath on punt team as that gunner or just covering kicks. He's at best the 6th best offensive weapon at WR(he's pretty solid, but that's also the deepest group we've had since 2011). Some of the roster hijinks were to get a player to the 53-man and then place them on IR. So that may change it a little bit. Some of it is just the Packers having a higher opinion of a player(Ford being one example) than the fan base does as a whole. They may not think as highly of Dubose for example. It may come down to who's better on STs. Heath and Melton are both dawgs in the run game and on STs. You'd think Dubose would be as it's mainly just efffort, but I don't know I'm really skeptical given everything Gutey has said about developing QBs and how well Clifford has looked, they'll cut him after a year. He's really only shown he was worth that 5th rd pick. I think we all agree Pratt looks good...so we'll see. We don't have long to wait now and they'll answer it for us!

The cost of new Vehicles is decreasing, not increasing. Go to any dealer and they've extra inventory. I think it's been roughly the last 12 months new car prices have been going down. They shot up due to covid, especially trucks, people couldn't find what they needed and they're coming back down.
-
I think a lot of the anti-EV is just being stubborn at this point. They're cheaper to maintain, to fix, the battery is used to scared people, but the battery life is incredibly reliable and only getting better. The price point on EVs is competitive. As for Hybrids? I REALLY don't get the argument they're not worth it. Just bought a new Tundra hybrid this year. I love it. Drives like a luxury SUV, it's got power and it gets better gas mileage than a comparable truck. My sister has had a Prius since...I think '08. She's driven it to Texas, California, moved around the Country. 330K on it and she hasn't had to spend any money other than on things she broke. He Husband bought a Ram. A big Diesal(they're real cheap to fix, right). 2021, he put 5K into it last year when the electric went. Put another 6 this year when there was something wrong with the exhaust and then the heat. An EV could run on a charger that uses human waste to power and prove that they're all objectively cheaper to maintain, and SOME people would still say an ICE is better and they won't care. But it won't matter, we're going to have EV power stations everywhere just as you have gas and we're going forward with EVs.

Yeah, I think we've been a bit harsh on Carlson. We all know the missed FG in the playoffs was not on him. The ball was angled away from him. We had poor snaps, holds and he shanked some. But a rocky rookie season isn't enough for me to give up on him. He's so smooth from long, I think if we get the rest of the kicking game going, he hits some early, he's going to have a huge year and be a weapon for us from ~60 yards out..in good conditions. Anyway, I think they'll ride it out with him and I think we'll be rewarded. Otherwise, I doubt Joseph is going anywhere.

Ok...I see that now. 2 players can start on IR and still return. Pretty big change. I still don't like putting a limit on how many players can go on IR for the whole year, but another story. 1-I don't think you have to worry about Rochelle or Wilson being claimed by another team. They're veterans, they're players who were available and who anyone could have signed and the Packers and each player chose to come back. Yes...some players got claimed. They're generally...more talented players and less journeymen. Usually not a guy who's nearly 30 who's going into his 9th year and has bounced around from team to team. Guys like Heath are the types that tend to get claimed. STs and positional value. We claimed guys that were Rich Bisachia guys. Dallin Lovett and pretty inconsequential players. Most teams have their rosters set and are looking to keep their own guys. The teams that are claiming players, they're rarely claiming veteran LBs or And I really don't see them declining to re-sign with the Packers. They're just trying to stick in this league. You get them on the PS, protect them(I really wouldn't even put Rochelle on there, I just don't think he's got that value. I think Wilson has the value to the Packers...so it's probably a good chance he's on the initial 53, but we've seen them cut guys who've been running with the #1s or #2s before. Don Barclay and then one camp...I can't even recall who it was, but it was an OL who'd been with the 1s much of camp and he was cut(not a Sitton or someone of that caliber, not a money saver, just an average player getting reps ahead of better players in the TC hierarchy). 3-I don't think that's right. I think as soon as you protect a player...they're protected. I don't think there is a one-day window...unless that's changed or I missed it, but how often has that been an issue? 4-Yeah...3 times as I said. By then, the problem almost always resolves itself. 5-Well...he's the 5th most important and nobody showed any real interest in him this off-season. We waited until signing him. 6-I didn't say it was because he was a pick...though that certainly helps him. He was just one of a number of players from the OL I think they'll choose to keep. My...best guess. QB(3)-Love, Clifford, Praff RB(3, maybe 4)-Jacobs, Wilson, Dillon IR Lloyd(if he's forced to go on IR) TE(3)-Kraft, Musgrave, Davis WR(6)-Watson, Wicks, Reed, Doubs, Melton, Dubose *Heath is the WC. He's a helluva gunner, good blocker and just a really solid WR, last guy cut OL(9, maybe 10)-Walker, Jenkins, Myers, Morgan, Tom, Telfort, Rhyan, Monk, Dillard (Jones has 2 games to earn a spot) DE(5)-Gary, LVN, Smith, Enagbare, Cox DT(5)-Clark, Slaton, Brooks, Wooden, Wyatt(I think he's the breakout player this year...along with the WRs) MLB(4) Quay, Cooper, Hopper, McDuffie "Wilson-Active on Gamedays and Welch may be as well. He's an underrated STs player and I think he's fine as a depth LBer...if for some reason, Wilson gets claimed. CB(6)-Ja, Stokes, Valentine, Balentine, King, Nixon S(5)-McKinney, Bullard, Williams, Oladapo, Johnson Jr ST(3) K-Carlson keeps his spot P-Wheelan LS-...I don't know, haven't watched the snaps, but if they already cut Bowden, that would suggest he won't make it. *I think as of now, it'll come down to Wilson at RB IF Lloyd doesn't go on IR. I think Dillon makes it, though he shouldn't. And then, 5th LB, 10th OL, 7th WR Ford is probably next...not that there's a huge demand for 1 techs in this offense with Slaton and Clark already there, but he's nice depth.
-
You can activate him(and I'm assuming they would) from the PS the first...3 games I believe. By that point, just given the way the season goes, you're not going to have the same roster crunch and you can elevate him. The only risk is if another team wants him and I think you're safe there. So he'd be the #4 LBer and a key STs player, just starting on the PS. I'm not saying go with 4 LBs for the games though. Same with TE. I think you could get one of the TEs on the PS, do the same. I don't think there'd be a lot of demand for Sims or(I'm blanking right now). Almost every year the initial 53 looks a little weird and overbalanced at some positions. It could just be a chance to put Lloyd on IR(which I don't know if that's necessary, but hypothetically). If Bakh is able to play, I think he's shown he's still an upgrade. He may still be better than Tom. I'm all for bringing him back. I don't know if he'd come back on the minimum, but maybe an incentive-laden deal? That's a move that IF he's healthy, if this surgery to re-grow cartilage actually worked and he can play ~12 games, that transforms our OL IMO. That's well worth the risk. The Packers would probably be in the best position to know where he stands after looking at his the MRIs or whatever they'd need. This is a wildly unpopular idea with the fans though! I've thrown this out on other forums and it does not go over well. I get it, he got paid and then couldn't really play and it was frustrating...I guarantee it was more frustrating for him as he was on a HOF trajectory. I don't think it'll happen unless there's an injury and he's healthy, but I'm all for it.
-
This would assume you only go with 2 QBs. Gute has said he wants to go with 3(or insinuated he'd like to keep 3). Pratt's the guy...I'd think, but Clifford looked really good last year, 5th rd pick, he's mobile and he was good vs Cleveland. 10 of 19 is misleading as there were a couple of drops and then he made some smart decisions on throw-aways. RB-I guess Dillon is the guy I'd be the most alright with losing(cutting), but Wilson is the obvious choice. Two locks, one semi-lock(sans IR, but he'd still need to be on the original roster and you'd still have to expose another player). At WR you'd have Melton, Duboseand and Heath. I think all have more upside. Melton looked like a legit, well-rounded WR last year, a ,really tough blocker in spite of his size. Just reminded me of Driver. Dubose is big and athletic and Heath is a great gunner, a good, physical blocker and catches the ball in traffic. This is a guy who was active as a rookie for the Packers at the end of the year in the playoffs. OL I think Jones would count. I think Glover's going to make the team. He may be 4th on the depth chart, but he's a draft pick, too big, and moves pretty well(I haven't actually seen him, but I've listened to Andy Herman talk about him, so this isn't a hill I'd argue on). TE- Maybe Wilson, but I don't know. I think this is a position battle between Sims and Davis and it's similar to Wilson in that you could get one through to waivers or start the year with just 2 TEs on the active roster and promote there as well. DE- Cox is one of the few I'd say could really be a significant contributor. So I'd go Emanuel Wilson, Brenton Cox, the 3rd QB, a couple of the WRs and the OL has a couple of players they need to keep. I'd guess they'd like to keep 10. It's a deep roster...and they'll need at least 3TDs, 5 LBs on gamedays, but just two places I think they can play the PS game. I'd be protecting Wilson(Eric) if you were to put him on the PS(assuming you're confident he'd go unclaimed and I'd think he would).

Ryan Braun almost came back this year
BrewerFan replied to ELCABALLO45's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I think Braun could come in and be a nice RHed bat vs lefties. Poke the ball the other way. The part in bold is ridiculous though. Why not stick him back at 3B(maybe SS). Get the most out of this offense! -
I'm not saying you go into any games with 4(though...depending on the matchup, you may be able to) but rather you could just promote them from the PS. I don't think anyone is claiming Eric Wilson at this point...so get your roster set, take the lower ceiling guys(like Rochelle, Wilson) put them on the PS and then just call them up on Gameday. You're going to have guys on IR and the roster crunch always solves itself. So you have 3 games. If you have to make a roster move at that point, then you can make one. You're definitely going to need 5 vs Philly, so he'd be immediately called back up. I'm just looking at the players on the Bubble. I may even want 10 DL for that game(so Ford perhaps). 6 guys can get the call-up. Ford, Wilson, a WR maybe someone like Heath or if Dubose can prove to be a good enough gunner, he may get the call. They'll have a feel for who will make it through waivers though. They always seem to do a good job despite a lot of consternation from fans.
-
That's...going out on a limb. You really think he's that valuable that they couldn't get him onto the practice squad(not me arguing, I've just had a lot more going on and haven't been following every camp report as I have in the past)? I don't have either of them making it to be honest. Both on the PS, but not the 53 man. I think you risk losing higher ceiling guys in that scenario and...while STs is important, you just spent a draft on young players who should be ST standouts.
-
I'm having trouble coming up with 7 CBs who'll make the roster. Ja, Stokes, Valentine, Nixon, King...probably Balentine(though I could see that going either way and making the PS, but...not sure). Bullard and Williams can play the slot. But am I blanking on the 7th? TE-I think you can squeeze the 4th on the PS...depending on the health of Kraft. I think they'll go with 9OL, maybe 10, and QB...IDK, that's gonna be tough. Pratt seems like he'll make it, Clifford goes to the PS? Will teams want to go after a smaller QB who's got limited arm strength, but is mobile and pretty smart? IDK...teams usually have their QB situation pretty well sorted at the start of the year. They're healthy and ready to go...though, Minnesota with McCarthy injured, they could roster, then IR him, and pick up Clifford. I also think they could even go with 4LBers. Is Wilson going to get claimed? I'd be shocked. You just start the year off calling him up from the PS and try and keep the best 53 and then play the game until you have the inevitable injuries? WR...I thought Melton was a near lock and I think he should make it, but will Dubose get claimed, Heath? Those are valuable players. This may be an unconventional cut-down to try and keep as much depth as possible. We should also look at it more like a 69 man roster as it pertains to players who probably won't be claimed(again, Wilson, maaybe Balentine...
-
Has he been playing LT? I'd love to see him make the final roster. I think staying healthy is the biggest thing for him. He's also fighting the scheme as he's not an ideal fit in the ZBK, but he can just lean on people and move them in the run game.
-
LBer is fine. If an OT goes down, you're looking at...Newman, Rhyan, Dillard. Maybe Caleb Jones can finally hold up, but you're probably going to be helping and chipping a LOT. If an OG goes down...you might be in slightly better shape. Easier to cover up for their mistakes and Monk played really well IMO. Some mistakes and whiffs, but he looked great for a rookie. I don't know what type of LBer we're going to get for a WR that we'd be willing to trade, the 3rd LB will be on the field maybe 20% as you said. OL is a bigger issue. You go down the list of players/positions that you're going to really have problems at if you lose a player and none even approach the impact an injury to Tom/Jenkins or really any of the starters has outside of QB. The next closest may be CB, but even there I think you have the depth that you'd be fine.

This is why I think we have a very real chance this year...but we need a lot to go right. Yellich coming back would be huge, a surprise performer down the stretch(Black?)...Chourio, Contreras to keep it up, Hoskins to stay hot, Adames, etc... But it's the pitching. We lost a guy who looks like not only a good closer, but a future dominant closer and...it's hardly been talked about. Megill? Sure, but how about Uribe. He's too overwhelming, too damn talented to not figure it out in Milwaukee. Plus I think Spears is going to take a leap. FF to 2025 and you hopefully get Woody back. Maybe for 120 innings, or maybe he's back in stretches, whatever, I'll take it. Gasser maybe end of next year, Mis, Yoho, Henderson should debut at some point. Behind Peralta, Rea and Myers, I love what we've got to work with. Forgot about Hudson as well, and we'll almost certainly have 4-5 guys pop up next year with good stuff that the Brewers can work on. This whole system and following how these guys are doing makes you look forward to the future so much more. Though, again, we're pretty damn good now, so...

How does Peguero or Ross trump Hall's '23 performance in a playoff race or in the post-season? Peguero pitched one year in a playoff race and threw a couple of innings as did Hall. Ross hasn't done so since 2019 and he wasn't exactly a key pitcher for the Nats making 3 appearances in Sept and 2 in the post-season.

A bad half a year and you go from #27 to out of the top 100? I don't think that happens real often.

Thats a big drop for Snelling(27) and Lesko(38) from the start of the season...
