  1. Brandon Jennings had some pretty interesting (and at the same time, depressing) comments after the game. "I can't say I've been playing hard the last couple games...I really haven't. I need to look in the mirror and ask myself if this is something I'm up for."
  2. It probably doesn't mean a lot, but Lance Allen had this tidbit from his blog: http://www.todaystmj4.com/blogs/lanceallan/139411158.html A source very close to Braun told me Wednesday that Braun is "100 percent innocent," yet the same source isn't sure that Major League Baseball will see it that way, and fears he might not be able to avoid a suspension. And now only one thing is clear...that the Brewers don't know much more than we do. With GM Doug Melvin already in Phoenix for Spring Training, I had the chance to talk one-on-one with Brewers assistant GM Gord Ash. And when I asked Gord if the he and the organization were on pins and needles to finally find out what happens with Braun, Gord didn't hesitate. "We are certainly in an anticipating mood. I mean clearly this has gone on a long time," Gord expressed. "But on the other hand, we don't have a role in this. The club has not been privy to anything that's been discussed."
  3. Here's a really nice Richard Justice story on Bud Selig that's well worth reading: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120214&content_id=26688030&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  4. One problem is there really wouldn't be any good place at Miller Park to put them. With all the extra seating and stuff that's been added in the outfield, there isn't really much open space there. They'd probably have to be way up on top of the roof, and then with the roof closed you couldn't actually see them, unless they made it so the flags folded in under the roof or something. I guess I think the current pennant flags are fine, even if they're "fake". I do wish they'd get rid of the severely tired looking '82 "pennant" up over left field.
  5. There's a ton of stuff to do around the Power and Light District. Also, if you like BBQ, visit Arthur Bryant's (basically the original BBQ place in Kansas City), but go during the day.
  6. Well, I see it both ways. They did it to honor the team's first president. To "un-retire" it after all these years without consulting the person's family just seems really tacky.
  7. More Marlins controversy, as they un-retire a uniform number: http://waswatching.com/2012/02/15/marlins-unretire-number/
  8. Yeah. I wonder what the over/under is on when we'll hear some real news about Braun now. Maybe before position players report to spring training?
  9. We were just there this past August. Parking is not a problem at all. Kaufman is situated sort of like Miller Park, in that there isn't really anything else to do nearby. They have tailgating, but I don't know the exact rules. If you are bringing kids, the Royals have a pretty amazing child play area. If you go to a day game, be careful what seats you get. We had excellent seats behind home plate, but would have baked in the sun if we sat there the whole game. We ended up wandering around the stadium instead, which was fine.
  10. Well, I guess they have to pay someone. Maybe if he plays really well and becomes a draw, it will help the A's pursuit of a new stadium.
  11. After thinking about it some more, I'm kicking around the idea of starting a league up again (but from scratch...I had too many people drop out during last season). It would probably be a 12 team NL-only keeper league. Live online draft. No cash, just for fun. Would probably be on ESPN, as I like their draft setup. Please let me know if you'd have interest in participating.
  12. Awesome. Hopefully others can start chiming in within the next couple weeks to let us know tentatively how many are coming. Edit: Also, with the new forum software, is there any way to re-pin this topic to the front page of the forum? Thanks.
  13. hawing is right. It will definitely be a bonus having an announcer who interacts with the fans via Twitter or otherwise.
  14. I could see this being an early to mid-season "surprise" extension like Melvin has done in the past, especially if the team plays well early in the season. That might be enough to get Greinke to sign.
  15. Thanks for the summary. I can't believe there's angst over the Brewers "passing" on Russell Branyan. I know he has cult hero status for some reason around here, but come on already. It's not like he's going to go be the next Nelson Cruz for the Yankees.
  16. And here I thought the fascination with "perpetually injured" pitchers had become passe.
  17. A lot of "pundits" out there just see "Oh, the Brewers lost Fielder, they won't hit any homers this year." They forget that Melvin signed A-Ram and we still have Hart, Weeks, etc. even if Braun is suspended. I bet most of them don't even know about Norichika Aoki coming to the Brewers, either.
  18. It's a minor league deal. I'm doubting he makes the team out of spring training or anything like that.
  19. I know others have said this, but it's long been at the point where I just want it done either way just so we can all stop worrying about it. I have to think it will be "any day now." I do think as long as this has dragged out, it could well be in Braun's favor.
  20. Even though I hate the Yankees, good for Bill Hall. I hope he does well with them.
  21. Even though Arnett has been a bust so far, I would be hesitant to give up any young pitcher for LaPorta. And as for Briggs' reply earlier, I personally value Kjeldgaard more highly than a LaPorta at this point.
  22. For whatever it's worth, Bill Michaels just said on his Twitter feed that we would find out "By Monday."
  23. I really don't see much value in Matt LaPorta at all for this team. If the Indians want to give him back, fine, but I wouldn't give up anything of value to trade for him.
  24. Here's a link to the Brewers official spring training roster, if anyone is interested.
  25. Eh, I don't think anyone really knows. If the arbitrators need a few extra days to decide, I would think MLB would grant them that extension anyway.
