  1. Really, people think the Brewers should have been paying him (barring a trade early into the contract, which sounds like he might have the ability to block), when he is 38 years old? No thanks.
  2. Six years for him? I'm glad the Brewers didn't do that deal...it seems like Stearns may have been successful in driving up the contract Darvish got. All in all, a strategy that seems to have worked.
  3. Years ago, I rememeber Bob & Brian interviewing one of the Brewers pitchers after the switch to the NL had been confirmed. He said, "I haven't held a bat since Little League." Just thought that was funny. I think the point about putting NL teams at a disadvantage due to increased injury risk to their pitchers is a good one.
  4. Exactly. It's overblown. Players spend half the season on the road, and spend Spring Training in either Florida or Arizona. I think most players care most about some combination of money and winning. Unless a guy has roots in a certain area where they want to play and stay (like a Derek Jeter in New York), I think team location is mostly irrelevant.
  5. I'm fully in favor of it. The game has become to be about specialization, and I don't find watching pitchers pretend to hit to be very entertaining.
  6. Not exciting news, but Morosi says Darvish and the Rangers have been in touch, but Yu returning to Texas seems "unlikely."
  7. A point I've made in the past is that if people seriously want to even *try* to attract an NHL team here, someone needs to get serious, take the bull by the horns, and create a "Wisconsin NHL Fan Association" (or whatever name they'd choose). Bud Selig formed an association several years before buying the Pilots. It was a big part of how he was able to put together an ownership group and bring MLB back to Milwaukee. If someone isn't willing to get serious and start a group like that, NHL in Milwaukee will always continue to just be a theoretical pipe dream.
  8. It's stupid, but if they want to try this again, fine. My guess is that they'll put this on WWE Network. Maybe stream live games on Hulu or some other platform as well, to reach more people (there is already some WWE programming on there). I can't see any of the major networks picking this thing up after what a ratings disaster it was the first time around.
  9. "What, you guys didn't hear? George Steinbrenner's reanimated corpse bought the Brewers! World Series Championship this year, or bust. "
  10. It's a misdirect. There is no way the Brewers take on the higher potential injury risk of playing Braun at 2B.
  11. Yes, and it was basically the one highlight of Mench's entire time in Milwaukee.
  12. In my experience, Klement's is fine when you grill them properly at home. The sausages served at Miller Park are poor quality examples. I suspect that will be the same if they're switching to Johnsonville inside the stadium.
  13. I like Cain a lot. Feels like a but of an overpay, though.
  14. My wife has done pulled pork, chicken soup, and a few other things. Everything has turned out great. I can see why these gizmos are so popular right now.
  15. Wouldn't the Brewers still be well below that, even with signing Darvish?
  16. I love Bob Uecker (who doesn't?), but I have been told by one person in the Wisconsin radio industry who said that it basically takes a special kind of personality to work with Uecker. Could explain why a lot of these guys aren't sticking around long term.
  17. We try not to post rumors in the MLB forum, until a trade or signing is official.
  18. Pretty sure anyone posting in this thread is a more likely Brewers 3B at this point than Ryan Braun is.
  19. Longer than three years, but it feels like it. Guess no one wants to stick around and be Uke's heir apparent.
  20. The Brewers have reportedly made an offer to the 31 year old free agent. McCalvy with a report here. https://amp.mlb.com/265101300-brewers-reportedly-make-offer-to-yu-darvish.amp.html?__twitter_impression=true
  21. Finally saw the movie this past weekend. I really liked it...I didn't think it was quite as good as The Force Awakens, but I still thought it was a very good Star Wars movie. Really don't get the bashing of Luke's character by some. I thought the way they built him up through the movie made sense, and I was swerved by the "Force projection" thing he used at the end. I hope Snoke isn't coming back...seemed like a lame Palpatine knock-off that they just sort of had around to explain the rise of the First Order. No depth to the character, but they can revisit him in the future if they need to. One thing that bothered me: Was this the first time in a Star Wars movie that "running out of fuel" on a ship was a thing? I don't remember that ever coming up before.
  22. We got one a few months ago. Love it. We play it pretty much on the TV only, but it's still a lot of fun. Basically all the Nintendo exclusive games are great.
  23. Only 42 days until pitchers and catchers report! Happy New Year everyone!
  24. Recently got a PS4, and received Skyrim for Christmas. No, I've never played it, even after all these years since it was originally released. I know where my free time is going after the next few months.
