    Wooooo! Go Warhawks! Played a great game yesterday. Interesting tidbit I just learned last night: My dad apparently coached Lance Leipold in Little League baseball many years ago. So clearly that's where he got his smarts from.

    Pretty amazing. I got home from a Christmas party last night and got overwhelmed by all these rumors. Now I see this morning that things are still being heavily rumored. Where there's smoke, there's fire, I would say. Congrats to Bernie's Crew for breaking this. FWIW, I see uber-reliable Twitter person "incarceratedbob" also has the rumor up.

    Another point not really touched on: This isn't a guaranteed contract. If Gomez stinks it up in spring training, the Brewers could still release him with minimal salary spent.

    Can he really be any worse than Escobar at this point? I realize it's only Winter League, but Escobar's performance isn't making me want to see him locked in as the starting shortstop right now.

    I really can't see any realistic way McClung makes the Rangers rotation. That said, best of luck to him.

    I see this as basically insurance in case Cain is traded for a high upside starting pitcher.

    Agreed GAME05. This whole Greinke to Brewers idea has been basically dead for a while. Sounds like the Royals were demanding better prospects from the Blue Jays than what we could possibly offer. I hope Melvin is exploring a trade with the Rays or elsewhere.

    My avatar is Ortiz, Sabathia, and Fielder. They are drawn in "The Simpsons" style. It was shown during an All-Star Game pre-game show on FOX a few years ago.

    I couldn't care less if he lost weight because he's in a contract year. It becomes more and more likely by the day that Prince Fielder will be our starting first baseman on Opening Day 2011. So if losing weight helps him have a monster year, good for the Brewers.

    I was able to get a discount credit through my credit card company (though that was a rewards program). I know sometimes certain organizations like insurance companies may have some sort of discount on auto rentals. Have you looked into anything like that?

    I used to have a Mudcats t-shirt for some reason. I'm slightly disappointed, as it would have been cool to take a trip to Florida and see the Brewers' Double-A team at that new park. Oh well.

    And again, Harden is probably going to be coming out of the bullpen for the A's. Not exactly a position of need for the Brewers. If you want a recovering injury dude out of the bullpen, I'm guessing Chris Capuano will be re-signed for about the same money.
