  1. I'm in there right now if anyone wants to join.
  2. I do agree that Melvin expected a lot from Parra, probably more than was reasonable given his performance up to that point. I think Melvin's stock rose quite a bit with most Brewers fans after this morning.
  3. Jeffress' agent just tweeted that he is indeed the PTBNL.
  4. I think the Brewers draw over 3 million fans this coming season. People are going to be buying season ticket packages like crazy now. Kentrail Davis might be a good guess, TLB.
  5. Heyman says Greinke feels Brewers can win sooner than Nats, and also likes Milwaukee. Maybe an extension isn't out of the question?
  6. Someone needs to make the obligatory, "Glad to see Melvin making an aggressive, Kenny Williams-type move" comment I wish I had thought of that to be honest. I'd been wishing for Melvin to be more like Williams for a while.
  7. Haudricourt with a new blog post, basically just re-stating Jeffress may not be included.
  8. It's an interesting idea worth exploring at least.
  9. Jon Heyman is also now saying it's a PTBNL instead of Jeffress.
  10. And if I'm Ron Roenicke or Rick Kranitz, I'm probably dancing in the street in my bath robe this morning.
  11. Haudricourt also saying Jeffress may not be in the trade! That would be something if it's only a lesser player instead of Jeffress.
  12. Peter Gammons doesn't mention Jeffress and instead says PTBNL. Not sure if he's just wrong or what.
  13. I don't think Cabrera would be much of an upgrade at all.
  14. I have my dartboard set up and raring to go. I have nothing to add other than this made me almost spit coffee all over my monitor. Though I do have to eat some crow on this deal. I was saying just a couple days ago that there was no way Zack Greinke would be acquired by the Brewers. Guess even I can be wrong sometimes.
  15. Olives, pickles, carrots, cauliflower, possibly some dip.
  16. I think at this point you keep both around, with the idea of Gamel probably replacing Fielder at 1B after 2011.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if Attanasio gives Melvin the go-ahead to spend a little extra at this point. You could be right, though.
  18. That would be an interesting idea. He's probably expendable to the BoSox and wouldn't cost a lot in trade to bring back to Milwaukee.
  19. Cool, thanks for the info.
  20. I really doubt it. My guess is that Melvin makes some minor moves to help the off-season going forward. Maybe sign a backup shortstop (Counsell?) or something.
  21. The Power 50 is certainly going to be tough to do right now if Odorizzi really was included, I'd imagine.
  22. yfinn6, I'd guess they will try to work out an extension. I'm not sure how amenable Greinke will be after having just changed agents.
  23. I agree with those saying we're giving up a lot, but that's what it was going to take to get two years of an ace pitcher. Escobar didn't light the world on fire and may never live up to his potential. Odorizzi and Jeffress are both still at least a couple years away from being full time major league starters. Giving up Cain probably impacts the team the most right now, but they have other CF prospects coming up soon.
  24. If this is all true, it's about the best early Christmas present Doug Melvin could bring Brewers fans all over the world.
