  1. I've heard Valentine is also Ichiro's personal pick to manage the Mariners. If that's true, you have to figure it's a strong possibility.
  2. Good luck, Mr. Uecker. All of Brewers Nation is pulling for you.
  3. I kind of doubt Haudricourt would risk his job by blasting a colleague to that extent, either. Plus using a swear word in a tweet seems out of character.
  4. Yeah, the thing that worries me about Valentine is that he seems more interested in promoting himself than actually becoming an MLB manager again. He might be expensive too, since he already has a nice gig with ESPN. I'm not saying we should cheap out on a manager, but paying him a huge salary would possibly limit other moves down the line.
  5. I did notice some of those tweets came much later than the others where he was discussing Allen, so it's not hard to believe someone hacked his account in the meantime.
  6. Some day our country will be like almost every other in the world, where the consumer just buys the phone and then goes month to month with whatever company they want.
  7. I just hope the Rangers take it to the Yankees. I know they did well against them during the regular season.
  8. This article doesn't mention Young or Webb specifically, but makes it sound like Melvin is really going to try and stay away from free agent starters this off-season. Brewers unlikely to target free agent starters.
  9. Mark Attanasio's letter to the fans. Nothing earth shattering as far as news, but nice to hear from the owner, I suppose.
  10. You'll probably see all of those as well as something like, "committed to winning," and "providing an excellent fan experience."
  11. Thanks, hawing. I noticed they mentioned an open letter from Mark Attanasio to the fans as well. Yet I haven't seen a link yet...maybe it's coming later today?
  12. Saw a tweet from Tyler Barnes this morning, saying the Brewers are freezing ticket prices for 2011. Would have been hard to justify an increase. (Discussion of this continues here - hawing)
  13. When's the last time that happened? 1995 or so?
  14. People on this forum were begging Yost to give Weeks a rest by the time Ned was replaced. Pretty disingenuous to criticize Sveum for benching Weeks, IMHO.
  15. From Tom Haudricourt and Anthony Witrado of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. These are always fun to talk about. I'm sure people here have their disagreements.
  16. How many teams are going to regret not adding major pieces at the trade deadline by the time the playoffs are over?
  17. I agree that this week's episode left a bit to be desired. Erin went from being quirky to being fairly unlikeable. Seriously, who is really that naive? Secondly, I was thrown a bit by another musical intro. I was thinking, "Didn't they do this last week?" Hopefully they step things up, like BrewCrewIn2004 said. There's quite a few episodes before the season finale, so it's not like they're in a rush, though.
  18. I think it might be a bit early to start comparing Braun to Favre.
  19. I don't see why the Dodgers would want Parra.
  20. Definitely true. I wasn't trying to bash Gallardo in my post. Realistically, we had Gallardo and then four #4/5 type starters in the rotation all season (maybe you can argue Wolf is a bit better, but that's kind of nit picking). A team can win with a bunch of #2/3 pitchers in the rotation, but not a bunch of #4/5 types.
  21. Yeah, I agree. Gallardo is a very good pitcher, but he isn't on par with the true aces around the league. I think he's closer to being a very good #2 than a real #1, frankly. Hopefully he will continue to improve as he matures, though.
  22. I think they should be paying for the whole thing, seeing how it broke almost immediately after she bought it. Of course, that's not always how things work in the auto world.
  23. I wouldn't be surprised if Brenly himself started the rumor in order to generate interest.
