  1. What's weird is they're currently in third place in their division. Then again, they're only 4.0 games back in the wild card.
  2. Just saw a tweet from John Jagler, that WTMJ is going to have a big announcement regarding Uecker at 7:30 AM this morning. EDIT: Announcement is that Uecker is returning this weekend, starting on Friday! Welcome back Uke!
  3. Supposedly they may be looking at dealing Werth to the Rays.
  4. Yes, but where will he finish out the year?
  5. Good thing no one in the real world uses WAR.
  6. Who cares about that? When is Macha getting fired??? He's having a great season. Nice to see him staying healthy and hitting the ball well. I hope there is possibly mutual interest in an extension.
  7. It's like that one South Park episode where the boys are in little league, and realize they hate playing baseball. So they purposely try to play bad, but the other kids want to play even worse.
  8. Yeah, people are really downplaying him right now. It's gotten fairly comical. "Well, you know, he's overweight and his dad was done by the time he was 34, and his defense isn't that good...sure he leads the league in home runs, and yeah, he walks a ton...but look at his RBIs...and also his agent is Scott Boras, and we'll only have him for a year and a half..."
  9. Edmonds clearly a great defensive choice in CF. Come join me in the chat room and make fun of this...stuff.
  10. Good lord, this is brutal. And we thought last night was going to be, "Johnny Wholestaff."
  11. Well, they did vote in Chris Coghlan, who was basically a nobody at the start of the year.
  12. From what I've read, Hudson projects as possibly a #2 in the majors, but at least a #3. I admit I'm no MiLB expert, though. Still seems like a good return if Viciedo and one or two other solid prospects are included. I doubt we get Beckham along with Hudson, though.
  13. I just don't see how Heyward is all that impressive this year. .250 batting average, 11 home runs. OPS of .809. Good, but I don't think that stellar, and makes those comparisons early in the season to Griffey and Mantle seem a little bit more hyperbolic. My pick at this point would probably be Garcia. Strasburg has certainly been dominant, but Garcia may have longevity in his favor.
  14. That's exactly what I don't want them to do. Either go for it (for real), or sell off a couple pieces. Don't play for a .500-ish record.
  15. Cliff Lee is a pipe dream. The spurned Yankees, still mad about not finalizing that trade with Zdurencik, are going to come after Lee with a vengeance in the off-season. After him, the FA SP market drops off dramatically. Melvin should learn his lesson after this year and not try to build the pitching staff (bullpen and rotation), through free agency. It just doesn't work for a small market team. And yeah, I really don't want to see this year be like the last one where the front office pretends to be in contention, but then doesn't make any truly meaningful moves. Mortgaging the future isn't worth a couple hundred thousand extra ticket sales this season.
  16. Well, I don't think the 2B market is that high, but if someone is willing to give up a legit top prospect for him, don't you do the deal? He may be gone after next season anyway.
  17. Why does it have to be "in place of Parra?" Davis is still on the DL for a bit. With Gallardo just coming back from the DL, I don't think going with a six man rotation would be so bad at this point. I guess you risk throwing off the starting pitchers with that, though. My guess is one of Narveson, Bush, or Parra gets traded before July 31st. Has to be someone who can use a decent SP.
  18. I think there's probably a strong chance the Brewers can re-sign him if they wish to. Capuano has stuck with them this long, and seemed to appreciate the team sticking with him.
  19. I'd love to work a trade where we could get Ka'aihue and possibly Alex Gordon from the Royals, but that obviously wouldn't involved Prince.
  20. They could still offer him arbitration after the season though, even if he is a FA, right?
  21. Haudricourt wrote today on his blog that the Brewers had a scout at the Mariners/White Sox game where Daniel Hudson made a start last night; so maybe there is something to the Brewers-ChiSox rumors after all. He also mentions they would probably want Dayan Viciedo (3B who could move to 1B) in a deal.
