  1. Yeah, that's how I feel. Knowing the Brewers though, they'll score like 10 runs off Lincecum tonight, just to provide the mirage that they "have it" again.
  2. I really think sticking with Suppan and Hoffman at the start of the season really damaged the team irreparably for the season.
  3. Yeah, I doubt there's any way they give up Bumgarner at this point. However, Sanchez doesn't excite me at all, either.
  4. From Adam McCalvy: Gallardo to DL after all (left oblique). Officially rules him out for All-Star Game. D Davis activated from DL. Story coming to Brewers.com
  5. Isn't that sort of how the UK series ended, with the Dwight equivalent ("Garreth") taking over? I could be wrong, as I haven't seen the whole series, but I seem to remember something along those lines.
  6. I'll be at the game, sitting in section 119 with my dad. I'm looking forward to seeing Bumgarner after all his hype, but hope the Brewers can pull one out.
  7. I'd hate to give up Lawrie; but if you can get Hellickson, it's probably worth it. From what I've heard, he could end up being an absolute stud pitcher.
  8. Sabre. I don't think Gervais would be a good fit. I think most people know who he is now from his movie appearances and such ("The Invention of Lying"). I definitely don't think it would work if he played the same character from the UK series. I just don't think that style of humor would work at all with the US version.
  9. Weren't there rumors previously about the Braves looking at Hart, but not being really interested? I could be thinking of someone else, though. Hart to the Padres seems like it would make a lot of sense, but it doesn't seem like they'd be willing to part with a lot.
  10. My real feelings on Bush and Davis is that they are both pretty average-ish starters. Just one is a righty and the other a leftie. As far as which one is really better than the other, I guess people can take their pick. It's mostly a wash, IMHO. Neither is a guy the rotation should be built around or should be expected to be a long term solution for the club after this season.
  11. Yeah, but with Parra where he is at age-wise, can you really count on him being a real #2 pitcher most of next season? I would love to think that, but the realist in me feels like he is more like a solid #4 starter at this point. I know lefties supposedly mature later; but I just don't like hoping for best case scenarios to work out, which seems to be what this club does all the time with its pitching staff.
  12. I agree. I guess I sort of find the calls for bringing up Luis Cruz somewhat laughable. I remember during Spring Training, a lot of posters on this board were questioning why he was even on the 40-man roster. The guy might be having a nice season in AAA (not a great one: .287/.330/.438/.768), but he is just there for backup insurance, nothing more. He's already 26, too. If the organization thought he'd be something, he would have been up with the Brewers already.
  13. The only scenario I can see is signing a top flight ace (like Cliff Lee or someone like that, not an aging middle of the rotation veteran). I just don't see us competing dollar wise with a team like the Yankees (who will have two rotation spots possibly open next season, if I'm not mistaken). I just hope he and Melvin realize there are only so many really good pitchers that are going to be out there, sort of like this past off-season. The odds of landing even one legitimate #1/2 type pitcher in free agency is very slim for Milwaukee.
  14. Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't done Braun already. They have other young superstars like Longoria, etc. A Braun figure makes total sense. Gallardo would be nice too. I wouldn't be surprised if some custom Brewers Sabathia figures end up on eBay eventually.
  15. I said this in another thread, but I don't think trading Hart and Fielder (guys who will soon be free agents and getting rather expensive) is necessarily a sell-off. I think it could be viewed as a re-tooling for next season. I think especially with Prince, fans will understand that the team simply can't pay him the kind of money he's looking for and necessarily remain competitive. Supposedly the Brewers scouts are all meeting in Milwaukee this week. I expect some moves to start happening after the All-Star break, if not before. Melvin and Attanasio aren't dumb. The writing is on the wall that this just isn't the Brewers' season to make the playoffs again.
  16. Latest rumors are that Lee may be going to the Twins. That would be something, seeing Minnesota actually make a strong move before a trade deadline.
  17. It's a one day contract and first pitch (the latter honor usually reserved for employees of various corporate season ticket holders, and the like). It's not like they're retiring his number or giving him a statue next to Robin Yount and Hank Aaron. I give Jenkins credit for being a Brewer for a decade, and sticking with the team through some really rough times. He could have moved on to greener pastures, and didn't. That's more than can be said for a multitude of others who gave lip service to liking Milwaukee. This gesture is well deserved from that stand point.
  18. Yeah, as much as I love Braun, he is frustrating to watch right now. He is just screaming as a guy who could use a day or two off. Not sure what could be wrong with him otherwise, as he doesn't appear to be hurt.
  19. Newsflash: All 29 other teams in MLB currently interested in Ryan Braun. Film at 11.
  20. If the reason for putting him on the 40 man roster is to protect their investment, I have no problem with it. It's not like MLB or any players have gone out of their way to help the Brewers the last few years.
  21. His stance does seem to look slightly different. I'm not sure about the swing, though.
  22. I've seen them in various collectible shops around the area, but usually going for $20 or more.
  23. At least they made him throw a lot of pitches in the first inning.
  24. Well, the one thing that gives it some credibility is that Kenny Williams is known for taking risks and making moves. That's why he's one of my favorite GMs, personally. Tom Haudricourt has also said he wouldn't be surprised if such a trade wasn't at least discussed. However, if it comes from Bleacher Report, I take it with a HUGE grain of salt. This is the same website that reported a Zach Greinke trade to the Brewers was "imminent", and allowed someone to put up an article reporting that Carlos Zambrano had come out of the closet.
  25. How about trying to lock up Weeks, Fielder and Hart? Because it would be very expensive, and we have very good possible internal replacements for at least two out of those three? Anyway, it appears they've already tried (twice if I'm not mistaken) to "lock up" Fielder, and Satan, er, Boras, won't have any talk of it. Weeks is not really that special as a player, I'm afraid to say, and doesn't deserve some big long term contract. Plus Lawrie is waiting in the wings. Hart I'd be OK with locking up, but he'll probably want to test free agency at this point. Anyway, the whole point of trading Hart (and/or Fielder) is to acquire good young SP. Not guys two years away, guys who will be ready to start next season at the latest. If we're not going to trade for good pitching, and can't compete with the Yankees and others in FA, how the heck is this team going to get any better when the most glaring need isn't addressed?
