  1. It feels so weird that the Astros are now basically at the same level as the Yankees, after having been terrible for the last several years. Good for them. I hope they beat the Yankees.
  2. Last game of the season for the Brewers. I'm a little bit saddened, despite how lousy this season has been from a win/loss standpoint.
  3. I think it was a pretty honest interview. You certainly get the impression that Attanasio realizes a real rebuild is needed, and that it will take timr (if that wasn't obvious already). I also like the comments about Stearns and Counsell.
  4. Attanasio says they had a total of 44 (!) candidates that they examined and looked at. Certainly seems like they did their due diligence.
  5. The Astros, and also the Cubs, had extremely long rebuild processes that were arguably not the norm. I don't think most people are suggesting the Brewers need to spend 4-5 years rebuilding. We already have some good young pieces in place.
  6. The Brewers are holding a press conference today at 1PM central time to presumably introduce the new GM.
  7. He sounds very intriguing so far. I'm glad they went with someone young who has experience with doing a franchise rebuild.
  8. Hopefully he is fine. At this point, if you have to shut him down the rest of the season, you do it without hesitation.
  9. That's good news...hope it works out for you. And yes, the things some companies now make prospective job applicants go through are pretty ridiculous. I think the era of online applications has made things worse, especially for the unemployed.
  10. No exactly a great one for the Crew tonight. Some interesting discussion on Twitter tonight about possibly starting Arcia in the Majors next season, though. Better days are ahead. This season reminds me of 2004 in a lot of ways.
  11. What industry or type of career are you pursuing? Maybe someone here can help. Not all employers are like that, jerking prospective applicants around needlessly...it sounds like maybe you just need to broaden your search outside of a narrow niche, maybe?
  12. That stinks. I'd be looking at other prospects.
  13. I read about this earlier. Anyone know much about him? I know the Rays seem to be a franchise some on this board would like to see Milwaukee emulate.
  14. Davies is 22 years old. Let's give the kid some time. I was excited by his first start and look forward to seeing him hopefully develop as a solid starter.
  15. Ouch. You'd think they would have just rescheduled the second game by that point. I suppose all ten fans in the stands by that point wanted their money's worth, though.
  16. This...this is exactly what they're dealing with. I would keep making contact, or say something like umphrey posted. I wouldn't hold my breath that this company will get around to actually offering the job anytime soon, though. I think you're best off continuing to search and trying to schedule interviews at other companies.
  17. Yes, that's basically what happened, as I recall. Zach, Prince, and CC all left, not due to lack of effort from the Brewers, but because those players all knew they could get way more on the open market.
  18. He's 22...let's give him some time. I agree he's not going to be the type to overwhelm batters with his fastball.
  19. How about this Zach Davies? Almost screwed up going around third base... Not sure if that was Sedar's fault or not.
  20. Even if part of the salary is deferred, you still have to pay it - so his salary is $7.5M. If you want to mess around with time value of money, then call it $7.4M in current dollars. And a $2M buyout for the following year if he falls apart in 2016. So potentially $9.5M was the cost to keep KRod when someone wanted him now. The problem with this logic is that it can be applied to multiple players on the team. Braun, Lucroy, and Lind all come to mind. I don't think any of us would want to see any of them traded must for the proverbial "bag of balls". I'm not saying I don't want to see them traded...just that I wouldn't give them away just to clear salary. I feel the same way about K-Rod. re: the domestic violence aspect, I literally never hear anyone around baseball talk about that. The only time I hear about it is from people here and on Twitter (and I mean specifically Brewers fans only). I really don't think it's as big a deal as some on this message board make it out to be. He was never prosecuted for it, so maybe it's time to let it go. Or does it have to be like Paul Molitor and someone still has to bring up his cocaine use, decades later?
  21. That's the speculation on Twitter, at least as of last night. It's possible the Brewers just keep him around next year. It's looking more and more like K-Rod is Hall of Fame bound, and he's been pretty much stellar this season (last night aside). They'll need someone in the back end of the bullpen, regardless of how bad the team is in 2016, and $5.5 million isn't a huge salary these days for a proven closer.
  22. You mean he wasn't going to go the whole year without a single blown save? What is the world coming to?
  23. It seems like this question always comes up on here during these discussions, for whatever reason. He said in his autobiography that he took a "greenie" one time before a game, became quite ill from it, and never used them afterwards. They were legal in the US and not banned by baseball at the time.
  24. Apparently Paul Molitor and Bruce Springsteen are friends. Interesting article: http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_28695704/hes-one-twins-paul-molitor-pal-bruce-springsteen
  25. Dumb, dumb, dumb.........maybe it's the fact that the Brewers know they won't be good until 2017 and need talent to due so. So trade away a 30yr old pitcher for a stud OF prospect. Exactly. This is the bottom line. We traded Fiers at the height of his value, which is basically what we needed to do this season with most of our veteran players. Maybe Fiers goes on to be stellar for the next few seasons with the Astros. So what? We most certainly aren't competing again next season and will probably only start to be real contenders again in 2017, or more realistically 2018.
