  1. Wife and I are there from March 20-27th. Kind of wish we had waited on plane tickets, as we're paying over $300 per person round trip, including a changeover in Vegas. Ah well, I saved on hotel and car, so I guess it balances out.
  2. Good lord, that franchise doesn't seem to have any direction, does it? For all the money they've been spending, it hasn't been returning dividends. I guess on the upside it gives the Brewers one less division opponent to worry about in the near future.
  3. Plus he was supposedly looking for a fairly sizable multi-year deal before the start of the off-season and I think that scared off a lot of would-be suitors. Now the market pretty much dried up and he was stuck taking a deal like this.
  4. I see Trevor Hoffman is already there again, working out as usual, according to Haudricourt. His workout regimen must be part of the reason he's been successful for so long.
  5. Supposed to get up to an inch here today. I guess I can handle that. Wish it would start warming up just a bit more, though.
  6. Salmons looked pretty good last night.
  7. I always liked Surhoff when he played here. He seemed like a good guy that always played hard and hustled. He actually put together a pretty solid career himself.
  8. AJAY, nice mock ups. I think those looks pretty good. I still like the current "M" logo, but wouldn't mind if they went to an alternate cap (are they allowed to do that?) with the current color scheme, like in your pics.
  9. I wouldn't consider any of those guys to be core guys on the team. Counsell and Gerut are both utility guys at this point, Edmonds may not even make the team. If Zaun fails, they have other internal options. Hoffman is some sort of freak of nature, and Hawkins may fit into the same category. Certainly the three starting pitchers you listed are being counted on, but Suppan's status seems tenuous. I am reasonably confident Davis and Wolf can both be quite solid this year. I think there are fewer question marks on the Brewers team than the Cubs' at this point.
  10. Yeah, "brutal" is putting it nicely. I made the mistake of drafting him on my fantasy team last year. I'm more inclined to call him a "one year wonder" as well.
  11. I always thought the Royals had the best looking powder blue, personally.
  12. I'm pretty sure they said they weren't changing the gray ones for the time being.
  13. A lot of the Cubs are getting somewhat long in the tooth. I think they're going to have a bad season.
  14. I liked the powder blues, but I think they should be left in the past. I like the current logos and color scheme.
  15. A white hat would look better than those red "patriotic" ones they debuted this past year that made them look like Cardinals copycats.
  16. Yeah, someone quipped on the JSOnline blog that "it'll probably cost $200 and you get two terrace reserved tickets". Probably not too far off from the truth, but still not a bad deal.
  17. Huh? A website dedicated to both the Brewers and Cubs? That's certainly different.
  18. Saw this on JSOnline and sounds like a good deal: The new uniform top will be available exclusively at the Brewers team store at Miller Park and at the FanZone Store at Maryvale Baseball Park beginning Friday morning. Throughout the month of February, shoppers will receive two free Brewers tickets to an upcoming game with the purchase of the new jersey. If the jersey is purchased at the Brewers Team Store at Miller Park, the tickets will be for one of three select games in April. If the jersey is purchased at the FanZone at Maryvale, the two tickets will be for a 2010 Spring Training game at Maryvale Baseball Park. The jersey will be exclusive to the Brewers Team Store and the FanZone in Maryvale for the month of February.
  19. Yeah, ditto. I will consider my dark blue "Brewers" Braun jersey a collectors item now http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Per Tyler Barnes on Twitter. http://ow.ly/i/wNk
  21. I've used the Mr Beer kit myself. Pretty simple. I've probably made about 10 batches over the past couple years, and only had one that turned outright bad (it somehow spoiled, even though I was always careful with sanitation...not sure what happened with that one). The Mr Beer system probably takes about an hour and a half of actual "work" to make a batch (including clean up). The only thing I haven't really found is an easy way to clean regular beer bottles when you're done using them. Unlike other systems, the Mr Beer unit itself is pretty easy to clean. Just put it in a sink with warm water and soap and scrub 'er down. No tubing to worry about, etc. I really need to get off my butt and make another batch soon.
  22. No, I don't believe that is true. Previously a deal to move to either Fremont or San Jose was thought to be in place, but those have seemed to fall through. They're still considering possible relocation destinations, it seems. They may also build a new stadium in Oakland yet.
  23. I couldn't care less about a player's personal life unless is starts somehow impacting his on-field performance. I don't know why any of that junk was brought up in this thread to begin with. Anyway, the reality is that Escobar showed he was ready to play in the majors. I think in the long run he will prove to be more valuable as a player than Hardy. I'm looking forward to watching him in 2010.
  24. Well, like 10 years ago possible contraction was discussed. However, even some of the teams that would seem to have been poorer, such as the Twins, Marlins, and Rays, have new stadiums lined up. The A's seem to be not well off right now, and I expect they will either get a new stadium or move sooner than later. The Royals seem to be relatively secure as well, having just completed a nice renovation to Kauffman Stadium. These things tend to sort themselves out.
  25. Since I'm not a big NBA watcher, are either of those guys anything to get excited about?
