  1. bobskube has shown himself to be a reliable source on some other things in the past. I don't remember the specific instances, but I know there was some stuff this off season he hinted at that ended up happening. Not sure of his exact relationship with the Brewers.
  2. Instead of "starts" just suspend a guy for 1-2 weeks.
  3. Well, there's nothing to say Mark Attanasio is the one specifically pushing for a trade for Peavy (though he'd probably have to give his approval, I'd assume). Maybe bobskube or others would have more insight into that. I would point out that none of us really know the Brewers' ultimate payroll flexibility or finances, either.
  4. Well, it tells me they're going for it this year. Mark Attanasio wants to bring a championship to Milwaukee. I'd take a strong chance at making the World Series this year, even if it means things might get shaky two or three years down the line.
  5. I think they're just easing him in. He'll get more chances soon enough.
  6. It's not accurate to take his road ERA from this year and assume that will be his total overall ERA for the rest of this season. I could just as easily point out that he has a career ERA at Miller Park of 3.43.
  7. Also got mine today. Thanks again.
  8. Definitely true. But for this season, I think acquiring Peavy would make the Brewers heavy favorites to not only win the division, but possibly the NL pennant as well.
  9. I'd do that trade in a second.
  10. What was even weirder about that was the fact that Rivera was used as a defensive replacement the very next inning, if I recall correctly.
  11. I know the bats didn't do too much, but the Brewers also caught some bad breaks in these last two games. Hopefully they'll come back refreshed and ready to do some hitting on Friday. I especially hope so, since I'll be at the game Friday.
  12. Well, I guess we really don't know what we'd have to give up at this point. The Padres don't exactly have a lot of leverage if they want to move him and his somewhat sizable contract at this point. He could just as easily veto another trade, too. If Melvin would have to empty the farm to get him, then I doubt anything will happen. But if he would just have to give up, say, Parra and maybe one lower level prospect, then I think he will pull the trigger.
  13. Also, if the player himself mentions it, there must be nothing to it at all.
  14. I hope if anything happens, it's with the Brewers up by a bunch of runs late in the game...then send someone like Julio in to bean Pujols. Otherwise I'd rather not risk any of our guys getting hurt in a retaliation bean ball war.
  15. Ennder, you don't need to go that route every time Parra or his "mental makeup" get mentioned, seeing how it's been talked about by more than just people on this site.
  16. I'll be optimistic and say: 18-10. 21 HRs.
  17. Well, I don't think anyone is suggesting calling Salome up yet this year (barring injury or a September call up) but for next year I really hope he's a viable option to make the team. I guess that's what you're getting at, though. Hopefully he'll turn things around this season. He has plenty of time.
  18. I think if the Brewers do end up making a trade for Peavy, Parra will almost certainly need to be included at this point. Though with Josh Wilson as their best option at SS right now, you would think Escobar might be appealing to them as well. I guess that's my way of saying "I don't know for sure."
  19. But who do you replace Counsell with? I don't see any free agents that are really viable, and a trade for anyone who would be an upgrade would probably cost too much right now.
  20. No chance Salome will be ready by that point?
  21. This just popped up on MLB Trade Rumors: "Bud Selig has repeatedly cautioned clubs about the economy, and at the owners' meeting last Thursday he told them he was doing something about it and sternly advised them to listen. The commissioner told the owners that his office planned to roll back the recommended signing bonuses for the June 9 amateur draft by 10 percent." Full story here: http://www.mlbtraderumors...lots-for-june-draft.html Will the union have a beef with this?
  22. With the way Hart is hitting right now, there's no way he should be hitting higher than 6th in the batting order. I'd almost be tempted to do something radical like bat Braun lead off, rather than stick Corey in that situation. It's been tried before and hasn't really worked.
  23. That's interesting, and must mean there's something tangible going on. Especially considering how adamant Haudricourt was earlier this year that Peavy was absolutely not coming to Milwaukee. A few more shaky starts from the Brewers' pitching might motivate Melvin to get aggressive on something. But with how well San Diego is playing right now, they probably aren't inclined to be sellers at the moment.
  24. I would think given the lack of offense in the last few games, all of those would be fine ideas at this point.
  25. Supposedly ESPN had a blurb last night about the Brewers looking at making a deal for Cliff Lee. Did anyone catch anything more on this? I assume it's probably speculation on there part at this point.
