  1. I would guess that if he struggles again, we're going to see a change happen, one way or another.
  2. I agree. I just don't see how he will be an upgrade over Suppan/Looper/Parra at this point. I also don't see why he'd come back for a really cheap salary. He's a first ballot Hall of Famer...he doesn't have anything to prove at this point. I think he'll end up retiring anyway.
  3. Aw, I was just having a little fun with you guys anyway.
  4. Do we know for sure they haven't discussed an extension at all? I keep going back to JJ's comments this off-season about enjoying being here and wanting to stay. For all we know he could be re-signed this off-season, though I wouldn't put money on it. I'm sure Melvin isn't just planning on trading Escobar, letting JJ walk after next season, and not having some kind of long term plan for a key infield position.
  5. Yeah, some guys do leave money on the table and walk away. I think that is commendable when someone puts family above making a few more million. As far as Zambrano, I found the article more funny than anything. I don't doubt he is being at least somewhat sincere. I don't think he was just putting that out there to be outrageous or something.
  6. That makes sense. I'm not opposed to PC MMOs, but my current desktop is getting a bit long in the tooth, so I'm not sure how well it would run a new game like this.
  7. Wow, I've heard a lot of whoppers, but I've never heard that the opposing pitcher can only throw fastballs when his team has a decent margin. What a load.
  8. At least a decent amount of people on there are calling Ankiel out about it, from the comments I've read so far.
  9. From MLB Trade Rumors : "After this contract, I'm done," said Zambrano, who is signed through 2012 with a vesting option for 2013. "I'm serious. I don't want to play. I want to help this team, I want to do everything possible to win with this team, but after five years or four years, or whatever I have left on my contract, I just don't want to play. "I want to stay home and see my daughters grow up and hang out with my family more," he said. "Do you know how many Mother's Days I spend with my mother? Do you know how many things I've lost in my life? "It's good to be here, it's good to play baseball -- don't get me wrong," Zambrano said. "But five years, four years, whatever I have left in my contract, I will retire. That's it."
  10. Theoretically, they could have traded Cameron to the Yankees for next to nothing (salary dump), and moved Braun to RF and Hart to CF. Probably just a pipe dream, but like was pointed out, Braun/Fielder/Dunn in the middle of the lineup would have been killer.
  11. I was calling for a possible Dunn signing during the off-season. Then when I saw what the Nats signed him for, I was kind of angry. Trading for him now would just seem kind of backwards though, at this point.
  12. One interesting thing I noticed was when Schroeder and Anderson talked about Gallardo's improving changeup. Would be great if he developed that into a bigger part of his "arsenal." They mentioned that perhaps Trevor Hoffman has helped him out with that.
  13. I agree the "I hate Bill Hall" type posts can get old, but it's bound to happen occasionally. I guess I don't like seeing "my" message board thrown under the bus because your expected level of discourse isn't being met, though. You can make your point without talking down to people.
  14. OK...I know I harp on the HD thing a lot, but this has me perplexed. Tonight's game is not in HD, but tomorrow's is...then Sunday's game apparently is not. I'm sure there is some logical explanation (probably somehow money related), but I can't for the life of me figure out what the reasoning is.
  15. McGehee has been playing fine in his limited usage. Why send him down now?
  16. Do you really need to carry yourself like this here all the time? You're a smart guy, but you do realize you kind of come off as pretty elitist with comments like this, right?
  17. A two weeks notice, at minimum, is a pretty reasonable and generally expected courtesy. As far as your supervisor, I think you'll just have to suck it up and talk to him/her. I guess all you can do is be ready to walk out if they start getting out of hand. You don't have to go into great detail about your personal life or reason for leaving, just say "I'm going back to school and won't have time to work here anymore", or something along those lines.
  18. The problem with Martinez is that he was supposedly demanding $5 million or so, around the start of the season. Otherwise I imagine someone would have signed him by now. Granted the price has probably come down by now, but who knows if he would even come to the Brewers? He probably wants the spotlight of being in a major market yet. Plus, it's not like he was really good last year or anything.
  19. I'd kind of think McGehee would be better at 2B right now anyway. Not that Counsell has been a slouch there.
  20. Even the Milwaukee radio sports stations feel the need to still cover the Packers daily ad nauseum still, so it's not just limited to Madison and the newspapers.
  21. I just don't think they'll send Hall down to AAA. I think Melvin thinks too highly of him, or something. Maybe they hope he will turn it on enough yet that some team will be willing to take him in a trade.
  22. What? I don't get what you mean by that. He hasn't even had that many ABs yet.
  23. Yeah, it doesn't sound like this was intentional suicide if you read the details of how they found him.
  24. Very cool. Someday I hope to have a similar bar/rec room, though it won't have all the cool memorabilia you have. I especially like the signed balls around the ceiling.
  25. I hope it's not just on PC...if it comes out on PS3 I'd get it right away.
