    I have to admit this whole conversation has made my head hurt a bit. Getting back to the original discussion, there was a very recent report that Sheets' agent made some comments about Sheets and absolutely would not talk about when Sheets is coming back. It did not sound that promising, as far as him being back with a team anytime soon. I'm trying to find a link to the article right now... Edit: Here it is: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/06/agent-tightlipped-about-ben-sheets-status.html Andrew Marchand of 1050 ESPN Radio spoke to Ben Sheets' agent, Casey Close, who gave away very little about his client's status. Close said he would make no comments about where Sheets might end up and "wouldn't even say how Sheets is doing," according to Marchand. Sheets had surgery in February to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow.

    Look at it this way, if yesterday's loss means Julio will never pitch for the Brewers again, I'll take it.

    I think this was Macha giving Julio his last chance, to a point. He had ample chances in that inning to at least show something, but all he showed was that you can't count on him at all. It's just a matter of who they call up now. Dillard would be a good option, but I guess he just pitched on Sunday. Someone on the JSOnline blog suggested Mike Burns (Nashville's closer). I guess he is pitching well down there right now, though I don't really know anything about him otherwise.

    Bad game all around, but enough freak stuff happened where I think you just chalk it up to "It wasn't our night", and come back tomorrow ready to play. Hopefully Cameron and Braun are both OK. Also, something that just occurred to me...what happened to Jerry Augustine? Haven't noticed him on the broadcasts lately.

    Tom Haudricourt says the reports of the Brewers shopping Hart around are bogus. That doesn't mean teams aren't looking at him, though, I guess.

    I certainly hope so. He looked horrible out there tonight. Also noticed he seemed to snap at Kendall when Macha pulled him? Did anyone else see that?

    I've never heard of a team actually doing something like that, so it would really be something.

    I agree with MJLive. I just think the media is over blowing this so they have something to talk about until the finals.

    I think people understand that. Heck, without Jeff Suppan the Brewers probably would have missed the playoffs last season. It's just the irony of Sheets being injured when the team actually made it to the post-season finally that I think got to a lot of people.

    This texting program sounds interesting, I just hope it doesn't become something for anonymous fans to tattle on fellow attendees for really minute kind of stuff. Hopefully the Brewers will use some discretion and common sense in regards to which complaints they follow up on.

    Yeah, if it comes to keeping one or the other, I think most would much rather retain Cameron at this point. I say re-sign Kendall if he comes cheap, otherwise let him walk.

    Yeah, I don't have a problem with what he said, either. I do have a problem with how dismissive other teams and the media in general have seemed to be regarding the Brewers this season.

    I ended up making the exact same prediction for June, so if I'm right again that will really be something.

    His team lost a hard fought series and are now done for the year. I can understand why he wouldn't be in the mood to stick around and give some fake congratulatory gesture to the other team.

    Honestly, I think some of you need to take a step back and take a deep breath. I'm not trying to be patronizing (really, I'm not, so please don't take this the wrong way) but all the freaking out about Gamel's playing time or lack thereof is getting a bit disconcerting around here.

    Theo's not a dumb GM, though. He probably has a decent idea of what it would take to get Corey from the Brewers. If we could trade him for a good young pitcher (something Boston has an excess of right now), I'd do it.

    Well, I do remember during this past off-season when there were some rumbling about him being traded, Hardy came out and said that he loves playing here and wants to stay. Now, maybe it was just the usual impending free agent friendly speak that most guys do, but I didn't get the sense that was the case here. If I had to guess right now, I bet Melvin will approach Hardy again about an extension during this off-season, and hopefully then they can get something worked out. Barring that playing out, I would almost rather see them hold onto him through next season, and either trade him before the trading deadline if the Brewers are out of it, or let him walk after next season and take the comp picks. The only way I'd trade Hardy right now is if a team bowels Melvin over with a great offer. He's just worth too much to this team to let go without getting a huge haul in return, if you're going to trade him right now. A core of Braun/Gamel/Hardy over the next few seasons would not be a bad thing at all. I would have to assume at least one of the other younger guys will sign long term, right? If Braun ends up being the only one to step up to the plate and put his money where his mouth is, that will be a bit disappointing.

    Yeah, Powell is a great one, that's for sure. The Braves were lucky to get him, and I can't blame Powell for relocating to his home area. I still think Provus is doing a fine job this season, and get the feeling he'll get better as he gains more experience working for the Brewers.

    Well, Hall went 1-4 for with that huge triple and scored a run, so it's not like Macha's hunch didn't play out, at least partly. I also wouldn't call 40 ABs for a hitter/pitcher match-up a small sample. I also think if Macha was really "abusing" Gamel, Melvin would step in and tell Macha about the situation. If Melvin isn't too worried about it, I won't be either.

    As has been pointed out to you time and time again, sports are an emotional outlet for many people. Expecting fans just to be emotionless robots who only cheer when they're supposed to and never boo and athlete for any reason is just being unrealistic. You have to realize that. Fans of any team are going to boo when a player under performs or gets hurt a lot. Yeah, it might not be "classy" but fans aren't always going to think about that in the heat of the moment, during a game.

    This was on MLB Trade Rumors this morning: According to Colin Fly of the AP (via the Chicago Tribune) Brewers GM Doug Melvin said he's not involved in any trade talks now. Many writers have wondered about Milwaukee's interest in Jake Peavy, but the Brewers aren't currently negotiating with the Padres. "We don't have any trade discussions going on with anybody," Melvin said. Well, take that for whatever it's worth, I guess.

    Can he be used as an out fielder? A platoon situation with Corey Hart would be intriguing.

    It sure seems like Peavy's camp has dinked around on this quite a bit this off-season. You have to wonder if he actually wants to get traded or not.

    I just don't see why any team would be that interested in trading for Penny unless it was for next to nothing in a trade. The guy is just not very good anymore.

    With Ortiz looking like he's on a fast decline (possibly even going on the DL and heading for a AAA rehab stint), I could see the BoSox wanting Prince this off-season...and I would hope Melvin would ask for and get the moon for him.
