  1. Whoops, I knew that. I meant to say "sign with Texas after the draft". I don't know why I put "trade deadline" in there. Too early in the morning yet, I guess.
  2. I think that speaks more to the Rays' injury problems than anything.
  3. I think that speaks more to the Rays' injury problems than anything.
  4. "You can never have enough pitching." While I haven't followed Jones extensively, it would be nice to have him as a viable MLB option down the line, whether as a starter or reliever.
  5. The thing to keep in mind is that you wouldn't know what you'd be getting out of him at this point. He probably wouldn't be able to pitch until July at the very earliest. So you'd be getting a pitcher coming off major surgery who hadn't pitched in over 9 months. That's not a guaranteed recipe for success.
  6. Supposedly he's a "great game caller", but I haven't seen Bush do that badly when Rivera is pitching. I think Rivera should get one more start per week right now. Kendall just is not showing enough offensively or defensively at this point to justify being used so much.
  7. Nope, he's going to sign with Texas after the trade deadline, thus screwing the Brewers out of any compensation draft picks. I think he genuinely hates the Brewers now, for whatever reasons.
  8. Melvin said the other day he had spoken with Ray's agent, who told him it would probably take him a while to get ready. Made it sound like he wasn't a realistic option.
  9. Eric Gagne has signed with a Can-Am League team, the Quebec Capitales. Story is on MLB Trade Rumors if you care to read more: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/05/eric-gagne-signs-with-canam-league-team.html#comments
  10. And I bet Corey is regretting turning down the Brewers last offers. There's no way he'd get close to the deal they were probably offering if he were to go on the market right now.
  11. Listening to 540 ESPN this afternoon, I was surprised to hear from a few Brewers fans who seem bothered by the untucking thing. I don't really see why fans of our team would really mind it, let alone fans of other clubs. It's just a simple little celebration thing...I don't get what the big deal is one way or another.
  12. I say, good for us Brewers fans. Let's get as many of our guys on the team as possible. We had enough years where we would get Dan Plesac or someone as our lone representative, and maybe get lucky to see them play one inning. It's our turn to get the NL team loaded with a bunch of our players.
  13. "slightly off topic, but i don't see what everyone has with Julio. The brewers need someone to throw into the first to save their quality arms, he is that. It seems like every year we find someone who isn't pitching great and try to off him off the club. As long as Julio isn't getting innings with the game in doubt, I don't mind him on the team." Not sure what you're saying...you mean if he's just eating innings you want him gone, or you want him gone regardless? I'm not quite following what you meant.
  14. Yeah, it's like someone else pointed out in the comments section on that blog...it used to be the Cards could count on an easy 10 or 12 wins a year from the Brewers...now it's anything but. Must be frustrating.
  15. No, based on Riske's recent performances and injury issues. Actually, Julio has seemed a bit better recently.
  16. I would flat out refuse to pay a shipping fee on an item I'm picking up in person. Just a way for them to make a quick buck for doing nothing. But yeah, $7.00 total is not bad. That said my wife had a good experience with LotF when she bought an autographed Braun ROY bat from them last year, so they can't be all bad.
  17. Yeah...the Cardinals have had plenty of success in recent times, while the Brewers went through a much longer stretch of futility. Now that their team is on a bit of a downswing while the Brewers are playing winning baseball, you'd think they could just accept it, since that's how things usually go in sports. Some of them are almost starting to sound like Yankees fans in how they think they're entitled to dominate the division year after year, regardless of what other teams are doing to get better.
  18. I like how they keep clinging to their World Series win from 3 years ago. I think they forgot that those championships don't carry over from year-to-year indefinitely.
  19. It seems like those types of moves would be fairly lateral (giving up offense for some pitching improvement) and not really keep us in position to contend this season. I think the Brewers basically have this season and next season to realistically make the playoffs again. 2011 will probably be a rebuilding period, with Hardy, Fielder, and others likely gone by then. The window is closing fast. I'd hate to see them sacrifice the short term right now just to creaet another window of opportunity much further down the road at this point.
  20. Yeah, I saw that as well. Sounds like we should not bet on Riske returning anytime soon to help out the bullpen, not that the bullpen is really a weak spot on this club right now.
  21. Wow, a bunch of bitter sad sacks over there right now. A few of their fans seem to get it, but just saying "It's disrespectful!" without any reasoning to back it up is getting pretty old from their side.
  22. It accomplishes making the Cardinals and their fans look like the hypocrites that they are, by and large.
  23. Just got a tweet that ESPN is reporting Peavy to Milwaukee rumors. I haven't seen anything yet, so not sure if this is anything concrete or rehashing the rumors that have been floating around.
  24. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/45980702.html "The Cat" has been called up. Swindle sent back down to AAA Nashville.
