  1. I'm thinking about picking this up for PS2 pretty soon, like maybe this week yet. Would love to get a PS3 and get this, but I can't really justify the cost right now, plus I hear there may be some upgrades to the PS3 coming soon anyway, so it makes more sense to wait?
  2. The audio has been either over modulating or distorting for the past two days. Don't they pay attention to this stuff? Or do they just figure "Well, the game is going out over the air...that's enough"?
  3. I took a break in the middle of the game when Turnbow came up to bottle a batch of beer I had made. It was time well spent.
  4. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Good luck in whatever you do, Brady. That said, don't even think about it, Doug.
  5. Looks like a really cool place to see a game. A guy I used to work with has been there and said it was really great. Too bad the people of Pittsburgh don't get to cheer a better team to go along with it (but good for us Brewers fans, I guess).
  6. I've seen it shown quite a few times on ESPNews so far today.
  7. Some of you really think Branyan would be a better option at 3B than Bill Hall?
  8. Yeah, that's my biggest pet peeve Menotti...when the same group keeps trying to start it over, and over, and OVER again...after the fifth or so try, give it up and watch the game already.
  9. Figured this warranted a thread: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080429&content_id=2612731&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Several days and an aggravation later, it appears that A-Rod rushed his right quadriceps too soon. Rodriguez was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain on Tuesday and will spend at least 15 days on the disabled list, the latest in a sequence of maladies plaguing the Yankees.
  10. Not to beat a dead horse, but all the riding last night on Yost about "deciding to start Sheets in cold weather" in the chat and elsewhere was pretty ridiculous, IMHO.
  11. Weird, this is the first time I had ever heard of this thing, though I wouldn't have known since I didn't grow up in a big metro area.
  12. In my view the "Tampa Bay" thing is similar to the "New England Patriots." Not that big of a deal, IMHO.
  13. At the very least, it's good to see another young and rising team in the AL. Tampa could really be a powerhouse once their new stadium is built and their fanbase continues to grow. As for the name change, I don't care...the only part I don't like is that you can't call them "the D-Rays" anymore. "Bay Rays?" "T-Rays?" What is it?
  14. I don't have a PS3 or 360, so no GTA4 for me, which is fine as I have enough other games to play at the moment on PS2 and Wii. Would like to get a PS3 eventually, but I can't justify the price tag right now.
  15. FV: Good points. Personally my wife and I are lucky as both our cars are paid off (though I'm in a similar situation to jwill as my car is getting up there in mileage quickly). Our house payment is pretty reasonable (we're on a 30yr fixed at around 5.8%), though I could see doing something like either doubling the payments or refinancing into a 15 yr down the line, possibly. Biggest thing we have to take care of is my wife's student loans, which are slowly going down now that she has a steady good paying job. I also refuse to carry credit card debt...only have one card I use, and I pay the full balance every month. It really helps build a good credit rating, too.
  16. Sounds like you had an easier time than I did. I had the same surgery last summer, though not a double. The first night after the surgery was horrible. I think I vomited about six times from the pain medication I was on, and actually blacked out and fell over in our hallway as I was leaving the bathroom, banging my head against a railing and giving myself a bloody nose in the process. After that, they told me to stop taking the pain medication they had prescribed and just take ibuprofren. I was back to work about a week and a half later (on a light schedule, a benefit of being self-employed), but I didn't fully get over the soreness for several weeks after that. Anyway, glad to hear you are doing so well.
  17. Geez, you're 30 and you already have your house paid off? That's quite a feat.
  18. Definitely an important series either way. Really, now that Brewers fans are coming out in droves, and realizing the Brewers are actually decent, the "take back MP" stuff has died way down.
  19. Which makes no sense, in an open air stadium in a city that can often have relatively lousy April weather, like Chicago. Really, though, they've had a pretty easy schedule so far.
  20. To clarify, I was half-joking, if that makes sense. Basically what I meant is that the Brewers have no reason to "baby" Sheets like they maybe have in the past...I'm not saying they should literally "shred his arm", but they may as well get what they can out of him. It's not like they have reason to keep him healthy for next season.
  21. Is it that hard to accept that sometimes players (especially young ones) get over-aggressive, especially on the base paths? No one here was in the dugout, as far as I know, so no one knows whether Yost sent him or not, either way. (pared back long quote --1992)
  22. Yes, I'm sure Yost was just being "lazy." Come on. At some point, the bats DO have to get it done. That's their job.
  23. The roster situation is pretty ludicrous, but it didn't have anything to do with the big egg hanging on the scoreboard behind "Brewers". Are we really waiting for Mike Cameron to be the savior of the team?
  24. Eh, Jenkins was still relatively productive the last couple years of his contract. Not really sure what better option we had, other than Geoff.
  25. I agree completely with brewcrew00. Yes, the manager always bears some margin of blame in any loss, but if the offense scores a grand total of ZERO runs in 10 innings, it's really time to look at the 8 guys in the lineup who are supposed to hit the ball and score runs. Oh, but Ned Yost didn't somehow will them to hit with runners in scoring position, so it must be his fault, once again.
