  1. Yeah...I guess if I want to go to a sporting event and be cold, I'll go to Lambeau Field.
  2. I guess I personally don't notice or care about the appearance of the grass too much. Then again, my own lawn at home isn't exactly a golf course.
  3. I thought overall it was fine. We didn't have too much problem getting in, as we left Waukesha a little after 10 AM and were in the parking lot drinking by 11 AM. We had pre-purchased preferred parking in advance. I didn't think the drunks were too bad...frankly, there were less annoying people in the stands than at the exhibition game we went to last Friday. People in the parking lot around us were pretty nice. Yeah, most of the crowd was a little late getting in, but by the first pitch, the park was pretty full, so who really cares?
  4. Have any pitchers really been injured recently batting? I can't recall.
  5. Here's what I'd do: - Rearrange the divisions so each one has five teams. Yes, I realize this would necessitate interleague play throughout the year. However, it just bugs me that the Brewers play in a division of six teams, while the AL West only has four teams total. I'm in favor of expanding interleague play anyway. I enjoy getting to see stars from the AL play at Miller Park, if only for a couple games a season. - Do more community outreach programs...build new local ball parks in inner city areas so kids have easier access to the game. I know they already do some stuff like this, but the more, the better. - No more racially based programs or ceremonies. I'm sorry, but it bugs me when they do stuff like the "All Latin All Star Team" and such. Jackie Robinson's number is already retired in all stadiums, so I wouldn't do another "Everyone wears Jackie's number" game, either. - Hard salary cap. Level the playing field just a bit more. I would also have a minimum pay roll requirement so the Marlins couldn't get by on a $21 million-ish payroll in this day and age.
  6. Free gym membership.
  7. Mariners and Dodgers. Dodgers because I was at a game in LA back around '97 and have liked them ever since. Mariners because I like Ichiro.
  8. Last year they were a traveling home run derby. Now they're nothing. They don't have a draw, and probably won't break 70 wins.
  9. Mr. Attanasio's kid looked like he needed to get slapped around a bit.
  10. Yes, that part I agree with...jumping on a pitcher early when they haven't really even hurt anything yet is pretty silly, for sure. It's like some fans believe a relief pitcher can only throw strikes all the time, or they're worthless.
  11. Yeah, I agree with Peavey. That would be the only way I would have really cared to see it happen. I can live with Gwynn for 25 games or so, though.
  12. I guess I don't think attending a ball game either means cheering everything or sitting on your hands. Part of sports is voicing your frustration when things go wrong. If that wasn't the case, there wouldn't be sports talk radio (now, whether that's a good or bad thing is a matter for a whole 'nother discussion). Yes, I am not saying booing should be excessive or habitual, but if fans really don't like something legitimately bad on the field, I have no problem with it.
  13. So you're saying anyone who boos at a game if you don't like it, is being childish? I think that's a little judgemental.
  14. Ryan Braun, first game, sixth inning.
  15. Looks like a 60% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, according to weather.com.
  16. Houlie: Wow, sounds like someone was desperate for a commission check or something. Surprised you didn't hang up on him first. The only experience I've had that was similar was trying to get my Xbox Live account canceled a couple years back (hey, another bad customer service experience there, go figure). The guy I was speaking to didn't seem like the brightest bulb, and asked me the same questions like three or four times. I mean, how many times do you have to ask me for my phone number, when it's the number I'm using to call you? I've had a few bad experiences with Charter as well, particularly with their billing when we first got cable here. Eventually it all got sorted out, though.
  17. Eh...not everyone does. My wife works at a high school, and gets like one personal day for the semester. Of course, she had all of last week off due to spring break.
  18. Nice try, but "boo" is a word. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/boo
  19. I was pleased to find a cart on Friday night where they were selling 24 oz cups of High Life. Of course it cost 7.50 for one, but that seems like a better deal that a 16 oz bottle of Miller Lite or MGD for one dollar less.
  20. I thought the show was pretty good overall. I really enjoyed the Flair/Michaels match...it was a nice moment for Flair at the end. Mayweather/Show was a lot better than it had any right to be. Not the best 'Mania of all time, but a pretty solid event.
  21. Not taking Monday off, but will be taking off Friday to go to Opening Day at Miller Park. I can at least watch the game on TV at work, though.
  22. Um...what? As far as WAUK or WSSP regularly carrying the Brewers, that would be a gigantic coup, which is why it won't happen. I happen to listen to each from time to time, but in terms of ratings and advertising income, neither is anywhere close to WTMJ's league. In a way, that is too bad, because either one would make the Brewers their crown jewel in terms of programming, and probably devote quite a bit of airtime to Brewers talk, as already noted in this thread. Heck, both of them already do, to an extent. WTMJ has gotten better with the Brewers talk in the last year or so, in my opinion, but you still get the feeling that the Brewers are treated like the ugly stepchild compared to the Packers.
  23. I thought the Linebrink trade was a good move at the time, but it clearly didn't really work out well. I guess we got a draft pick or something for him leaving, but that's not a lot of consolation, since he wasn't really stellar with the Brewers, which was kind of the point.
  24. I've always heard Wendy credited with it, but that could be.
