  1. I know, I was kidding. Seriously, I think they'll still pull off 60 wins this year, but barely.
  2. How soon before relocation talk starts with the Nats?
  3. I bet what's happening is teams are offering scrubs that Melvin isn't interested in...he's going to hold out for something the Brewers actually need right now, not mid-level prospects or a marginal MLB-ready reliever or something.
  4. OK, in that case I could get on board...maybe Rivera/Mench for a solid bullpen arm.
  5. I wouldn't trade any of our catchers for "whatever we can get". They're too valuable right now. The Brewers have possibly the best depth at catcher in the entire NL. I have no doubt one of our catchers will be traded before the end of the season, but it will be for something the Brewers actually need, not just to dump a player.
  6. Don't need him...we already have a Cordero as our closer.
  7. I'm not really concerned if a player, especially a Brewer, makes the All-Star team...if they do, great, but there are so many factors that go into the selection each year that have nothing to do with how good a player has actually performed on the field. I mean, when most of it is based on fan voting, a lot of deserving players will get overlooked in favor of "names" or whoever is popular at the time. I think that Bill Hall is legit...but I do worry as well that a lot of the team's hopes for 2007 are riding on him and the other young guys making HUGE steps up in their game.
  8. He has a funny name. I'd take him.
  9. I frankly don't care which of the outfielders they trade (assuming it's one or a combination of Mench/Jenkins/Clark). This logjam situation needs to be fixed to allow more flexibility in the bullpen.
  10. "It's just spring training, it's just spring training..."
  11. I agree that Turnbow is too valuable at this point, given that he's performed well so far in spring training, and the rest of the bullpen really hasn't (other than Cordero). If the Brewers trade him, they should get a lot for him. I wouldn't trade him for less than an upper level, MLB-ready infield-playing hitter at this point.
  12. I really thought the Brewers would be above acquiring a Russel Branyan-type at this point, but I'd do a Branyan for Clark/Hendrickson trade in a second, given that Corey Koskie looks like he won't be coming back.
  13. Wow, someone complaining about a Brewers player being featured too much on Sportscenter. That's a new one.
  14. Sounds interesting, but if it does become a regular pitch will probably only be used by a handful of pitchers regularly, like the knuckleball.
  15. No problems. I'm using Internet Explorer and it's working fine for me.
  16. Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere already, but figured many on this board would be interested: www.baseballamerica.com/t...63445.html
  17. It seems like the Red Sox have been rumored as a potential trade partner of the Brewers all off-season. I'm somewhat surprised something hasn't happened yet, even a minor deal of some kind. I do think trading Turnbow and someone else for Lowell could be worth it.
  18. Branyan's one of those guys, that while I'm happy if he has success elsewhere, is one of those "diamond in the rough" scrapper types that the Brewers should be above needing at this point.
  19. Doesn't sound too bad, thought it feels the Brewers would be giving up a lot of potential for two marginal players. Potential meaning whether Jenkins and Turnbow bounce back to their former All-Star forms.
  20. The revised Crawford trade is more reasonable. Not convinced they'll consider giving him up, though.
  21. Hard to say exactly. I wonder how much damage his terrible second half did to his reputation. I mean, he was an All Star closer last year, though. I can't believe some team wouldn't take a chance on him, or that we couldn't get a trade similar to the Kolb for Capellan one a couple years ago. The Brewers don't really need any more prospects ... 3B is Milwaukee's most glaring hole right now.
  22. I'm thinking Turnbow will probably be traded, if not now, by the All-Star break. This thread should probably be in the trade rumor forum, I'm guessing.
  23. How about trading Hendrickson to the Mexican League, or maybe some team in Japan could use him? Better yet, how about leaving an anonymous note on his locker that says "Ben, we all hate you. Leave town or else." Seems just as effective.
  24. I really doubt the Twins will want to trade Cirillo, especially for a AAAA "prospect". I wouldn't mind terribly if they re-signed David Bell, cheaply. He's OK offensively and pretty good defensively. If Koskie doesn't make it back, he'd be a fine option.
  25. Didn't Doug Melvin actually try to get a deal done for Manny a couple years ago, but it would've come down to having to trade like twenty guys to even out the salary, roughly? My memory is a little hazy on that one, but it was before the trade deadline.
