  1. I can tolerate him in small doses, but there's no way I would want him to be the everyday guy in the event BA departs for other pastures. It's not like he's horrible, but the Brewers should be able to do way better at this point.
  2. It's just come out from Adam McCalvy and others that Weeks is done for the season. Hamstring surgery is expected. Hopefully he can get fully rehabilitated in the off-season and come back strong in 2014.
  3. I remember hearing insinuations that Bill Schroeder didn't like him. I also recall Sutton saying some rather back handed things about the Brewers as well.
  4. I'm of the mindset that "Hope is not a plan." He'll stay on the team and probably continue his trend of hitting poorly except for one or maybe two hot months. No one should be surprised next season when it happens. The Brewers are simply in the situation where they need to wait for his contract to run out at this point.
  5. Uh...wow. Yeah, I don't know if I would have been able to restrain myself in that situation. What a mess.
  6. Rickie is entering his later theoretical prime years. I don't know why some can't simply accept he's probably on the decline.
  7. That tends to be how these things go. My sister-in-law and her husband have been putting up my brother in law (my wife's other sibling) for the past couple months. He graduated in May and is trying to find a job. It makes sense for him to live with them, since they're in the southern part of the state where he's more likely to find a job. His parents (my in-laws) live way up in the north woods where there is probably zero chance of him getting a job. Well, they're already tired of him, so he's going to be moving back with mom and dad "temporarily". We'll see if they take him back later. I think it was Ben Franklin who said, "House guests are like dead fish...after three days they stink."
  8. I see this around the UW-Whitewater campus a lot. There are special crosswalks up and down Main Street (which borders the campus) that obviously require drivers to yield. Most of the time pedestrians are pretty good, but sometimes you'll get those one or two that seem content to take their sweet time walking at a snail's pace while there's a line of cars waiting during rush hour. If you're not handicapped or elderly, you can walk briskly across the street...otherwise you're just being a passive aggressive jerk.
  9. Weeks had an amazing June, and has been terrible the rest of this season. You trade him for anything you can get if someone is seriously inquiring. I'm guessing the front office is still fooled by the Weeks "mystique" if there is such a thing for the Brewers.
  10. It's definitely a nice gesture, and it sounds like there will be more initiatives coming yet.
  11. I thought this would be his breakout year (ie. maybe make the All-Star Game or at least be in serious discussion for it), but his slow start curtailed that. I think we're definitely lucky to have him around, especially on a team friendly contract.
  12. This is why you'll never see a free or cheap beer night at an MLB park again: http://mlb.si.com/2013/06/04/a-mistake-by-the-lake-remembering-the-10-cent-beer-night-riot/ re: The email I got, he said that actually someone on their team already had a similar idea, and that they were considering their options right now.
  13. FwIw, I emailed Rick Schlesinger about my idea and he got back to me very promptly.
  14. It was very well thought out. He strongly showed his disappointment over it without being wishy washy, but at the same time didn't engage in any over the top sanctimony or condemnation. I supposed it helps that he had a few days to digest this.
  15. I hate to say it, but that start yesterday had me thinking "He's looking not so much like the Ben Sheets replacement we hoped for, and more like the next Jeff Suppan." I know he isn't that bad, but he's been really disappointing overall this year. I think the smart thing for the Brewers to do at this point might be to hold onto him, hope he finishes the year strong, and then either trade him this winter or simply keep him for next season. Then you look at trading him if the team is out of contention and he's re-established his value.
  16. I noted this earlier in another thread, but the Brewers are claiming Braun merchandise sales have actually gone up since the news broke on Monday. And I have to admit that story linked above made me smile just a bit.
  17. Here's link to comments from Aaron Rodgers that just came out: http://www.620wtmj.com/news/local/Rodgers-shocked-disappointed-in-Braun-after-suspension-217126341.html ------------ Previous topic: Braun Suspended for Remainder of 2013 Season
  18. This video from LOLBrewers is pretty spot on. You can practically see the blood dripping from the mouths of some of these people: (warning, language): Ryan Braun is the Worst Person Ever: http://lolbrewers.tumblr.com/post/56474875103/ryan-braun-is-the-worst-person-ever#_=_
  19. To be fair, when the Cubs signed him, contracts were starting to get really bloated and the deal didn't seem that far out of line.
  20. Are some of you really not getting it? Braun is under a long term contract. He isn't going to be DFAed or traded, or whatever other ridiculous scenario certain fans want to dream up. The Brewers aren't going to throw him under the bus by doing a promotion that basically says, "Yes, our star player is a cheater and we all hate him now! Get rid of his jersey that is now like toxic waste! Braun effigy burning to follow after tonight's game!" I mean, come on now...I realize emotions are high lately, but I'm tired of this sort of irrationality. By the way, it just came out that Braun merchandise sales have actually gone up since Monday, according to the Brewers.
  21. Yeah, Paul Molitor was one of a handful of people that did cocaine in the '80s and also the one baseball player who has been through a divorce, so we need to always bring it up whenever he is discussed. Kind of like how Hank Aaron admitted in his autobiography that he took a greenie one time, so it's extremely important and critically necessary to always bring up his amphetamine use whenever he is mentioned.
  22. I did cheer for him today, but someone had their dog dressed as a beer vendor and won in a landslide.
  23. I think a County Stadium price night would be fun. They haven't done anything like that in a while, that I recall. One idea I had would be to do a sort of "Super Tailgate Party". Like basically people could tailgate before the game as normal, but random players and team personell would go around and give stuff out, chat up the fans, etc. Maybe have a band playing on a stage somewhere. Could be a fun thing. They aren't going to do any promos that cast Braun in a negative light. People have to remember that he's going to be a Brewers player for a long time yet.
