  1. I don't know if Attanasio can really be buying that. What he says during interviews on FSN and what he really thinks are probably quite different. If our farm system is really that much better than all the experts say, why aren't we calling up a 2B to replace Weeks and starters to replace Burgos, Peralta, etc? Why do we have backup shortstops playing first base? Hard to sell our "great farm system" when other teams are calling up top notch prospects and we keep trotting the same junk out.
  2. Cactus League Nachos are my favorite. My cable started cutting out towards the end of the game so I changed the channel after the 8th inning. I guess I didn't miss much.
  3. I'll be Debbie Downer and say 10-17.
  4. There have only been two others in franchise history. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130529&content_id=48939422&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Only two other Brewers in the franchise's 45 seasons have had six hits in a game: Johnny Briggs on Aug. 4, 1973, at Cleveland and Kevin Reimer on Aug. 24, 1993, vs. Oakland.
  5. I guess the question is: Does Seid really deserve to stay if Melvin leaves?
  6. Regarding Ryan Braun, I don't think he would demand a trade if the team went into rebuild mode. I don't get the sense winning a championship is necessarily his biggest motivator. I think he wants to be the biggest fish in the smallest pond, and sees that being his legacy as a Brewer. Maybe I'm being naive, but I've never gotten the sense he would be impatient about winning.
  7. If Attanasio really does make the ax fall in the next few weeks, I would hope Melvin, Seid, Roenicke, and Kranitz would all be gone together. No point in holding on to major parts of what would be seen as a failed regime. Of course, the upcoming draft starting June 6th would complicate this.
  8. My only untouchables would be Braun, Segura, and possibly Lucroy. Everyone else would be on the table at this point. I just wouldn't be looking to trade people just to trade them. I want back prospects that can be ready in 1-2 years to contribute at the big league level. I think with the right trades, we could look at a short term rebuild rather than one taking 4-5 years as some have posited. I really hope that if this team doesn't go on a major run in the next 2-3 weeks (like winning 10 of the next 15 games or so) that Doug Melvin really starts looking to deal. No point until waiting 'til the last week of July with how this team has performed.
  9. Well, we had fun today at the game, despite the loss. We brought a couple friends who had never been to Miller Park, and they enjoyed it. We also had a fun tailgate, despite the crummy weather. At this point I'm just trying to enjoy watching Segura, etc. and not really worrying about the team record because this franchise is just screaming "rebuild time".
  10. The problem is where would you play him, especially if Corey Hart comes back soon?
  11. This is why I think Attanasio is going to be forced to give in and accept a real rebuild, even if it's a short 1-2 year one. Some combination of guys like Hunter Morris, Logan Schafer (not really a prospect anymore but just an example), and Tyler Thornburg won't bring back a top pitcher to patch yet another gap in our rotation that has developed.
  12. Adam McCalvy reported on Twitter around midnight.
  13. Very good analysis, 'stache. One thing is set in my mind: If the Brewers have to go through a rebuild process again, it shouldn't be under Melvin. It would clearly be time to bring on a new GM, and preferably one from outside the Brewers organization.
  14. The franchise is in rather rough shape right now, as evidenced by the quality of the team they're putting out right now. I don't necessarily mind that they tried to "go for it" one more time this year, but if the team doesn't turn things around in the next 2-3 weeks, they should be looking to sell off some major pieces and start a real rebuilding process. I'm basically saying everyone other than Braun, Segura, and maybe Lucroy should be made available. I think the next two months will be extremely telling for this franchise. If they try to stick with what they have now (barring some miracle turnaround in the next couple weeks) I'm going to be very frustrated. I've been a Melvin/Attanasio supporter in the past (look at my avatar) but right now it's hard to be too optimistic. I was against the Lohse signing (though I cheer him now he's a Brewer), and it's showing that it was a short sighted move, despite the fact he's basically been our lone bright spot in the rotation. As far as the manager, I don't think Roenicke is a bad manager. Is he a great manager? No. But like with Ken Macha, I have a big problem pointing the finger at the manager when he's handed such a terrible starting rotation. Baseball starts and ends with your starting pitching.
  15. After reading Ryan Braun's comments from today, I have to believe the locker room isn't a fun place to be right now.
  16. Did you read this somewhere? Just wondering. If she can get $350 for a single ticket, more power to her! I hadn't heard anything about this, but yeah, I agree.
  17. Why can't they just call him Joe Hennig? Whatever. Glad to see him get a chance to shine at least.
  18. That's really what this situation is starting to remind me of, too. Of course Bill Hall actually got benched at a certain point.
  19. Look who got to meet the Bella Twins yesterday:
  20. Great story. I had never heard about this. Thanks for sharing. Like many others, I was too young to have memories of the 1982 season (I'm 33 now). Hopefully I'll get to see the Brewers in the World Series at least once in my lifetime, but I'm having my doubts it will happen.
  21. re: Rickie Weeks. I'm not ready to say his career is over, but there's no reason he should be starting regularly at this point. He just looks completely lost at the plate, and it's not like his glove work makes up for his deficiencies. It's time to give someone else a chance.
  22. No, Johnny just really, really, enjoyed college. As someone pretty familiar with Whitewater, I can tell you he isn't really well thought of around the area. I think he's trying to become an actor now, and he appeared in some local car commercials a while ago.
  23. He pitches tomorrow, so we'll see then.
  24. Wow, just saw that for the first time. It's a real shame the Astros aren't in the NL any longer.
  25. So that's what a win looks like. I had sort of forgotten.
