  1. I firmly believe there will be no suspensions for anyone. It's becoming more and more clear by he day that MLB has nothing and is just blustering. I don't think there's anything "clear" about this whole situation. Well, judging by how they've acted during this whole situation (going back to last year), I feel it is. If I was a gambling man, I'd bet on Braun not being suspended over him serving any games at this point.

  3. And of course that all ignores the 9 year, nearly $250 million deal he got from the Tigers. I don't know why people ever acted like we had any realistic shot to re-sign him. It's not like Attanasio and Melvin didn't try, either. He didn't take Scott Boras on as his agent to try and negotiate a team friendly renewal.
  4. Williams sounds great, but hard to get too excited about pitchers this organization drafts given their recent track record.
  5. I think it's mainly a lack of quality starting pitching. Not sure how a different manager or "leadership" changes that.
  6. The thing is, he already kind of did, didn't he?
  7. Have people on this board already soured on Jonathan Lucroy that much? He's 26 and under team control through 2017. I don't see the need to upgrade our catching prospects right now.
  8. I would probably be interested as well, and would bring at least one other person. Definitely a weekend date would be more doable.
  9. Here's a link to the Michael Hunt column alluded to earlier: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/time-for-brewers-to-plan-for-next-year-b9925062z1-210029551.html While not prepared to concede the division to the Cardinals and the Reds with two-thirds of the season to play, general manager Doug Melvin gave a general idea of the direction Monday when he told me, "If we make any more trades this year, it's going to be for two or three years from now instead of now. "I'm not going to be trading any young players to win games."
  10. A guy like Scooter will draw a few extra fans to Miller Park (for a little bit), but let's not pretend he had anywhere near the same hype of Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, etc.
  11. Well, I just watched last night's episode, which was an appropriate break from tonight's Brewers game. I guess I don't know at this point where this show is going. I kind of saw that ending coming but figured someone would escape. Crazy stuff.
  12. This is hilarious: So Wrigley is unique. I asked Uhl where else one might find such a delightful relic. "They might be used in prisons," he said.
  13. Jon Morosi from Fox Sports has been saying that Ramirez will probably draw interest quite a bit towards the trade deadline. I don't think that means a trade is imminent (or necessarily even will happen), but we'll see.
  14. It's not like this is new behavior from Molina though. He has a history of disrespecting umps. I recall a couple years ago when he infamously stripped off his catcher's gear at home plate after being ejected. Then of course there was the incident last year where he spit on an umpire. The guy is a thug, plain and simple.
  15. As I noted on Twitter just a bit ago, Doug Melvin just said roughly two weeks ago that Scooter would stay in AAA the entire season. I think either Attanasio got on him to make some moves, or the team has just completely become disillusioned with Weeks.
  16. Being reported by Nashville Sounds official Twitter account.
  17. In exchange for LHP Tom Keeling (AA). Francisco will wear #21, apparently. This is being reported by Andrew Gruman, Bob Nightengale, and others on Twitter.
  18. He's a AAAA type guy, but I would rather have him playing 1B than a backup shortstop like Gonzalez.
  19. I firmly believe you can keep Braun around along with a few core players (Segura, Lucroy, etc) and do a mini-rebuild that could make the team competitive again in a couple years. I don't buy the idea that if the team sells off aging and expensive players in the next couple months, it dooms the franchise to being cellar dwellers for 4-5 years.
  20. "Never say never", but I just can't envision a scenario where it realistically happens. He means more and is more valuable to this franchise than any other team. I think they gave him his current extension with the full intention of having him be the face of the team for years to come, and eventually having him go to Cooperstown as a Brewer, getting the number retirement ceremony at Miller Park, a statue someday out front, etc.
  21. Maybe it was a combination of both.
  22. Ned Yost gets swarmed by Chiefs security: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/ned-yost-surrounded-security-kansas-city-chiefs-practice-134246991.html
  23. Where can you actually find this in the park though?
  24. My favorite by far is the cactus league nachos. I haven't had a chance to try any of the more exotic fare so far this year. Regarding the brats, I think Klements can be good if actually prepared properly and served with a bun that isn't total junk. I usually skip the brats at Miller Park due to the fact they are being prepared well, it seems.
